Red Dog Saloon Nottingham
Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.
- Surfaces sanitised between seatings
- Sick staff prohibited in the workplace

We had 4 members of staff attend to our table during our meal. 2 out of the 4 had the attitude I would expect when visiting red dog. The first staff member, a gentlemen we dealt with was lovely, with a great smile, the second, an amazing women. Went above and beyond to serve us and fix the issue of the wrong order being brought to our table. The women who actually served us our food.. didn’t look like she wanted to be there, didn’t care, and wasn’t helpful at all. Walked away from us when we were asking question regarding the confusion of food she brought out to us. Luckily the women who took our order (which we knew she’d taken down correctly because she read it back to us) nearby so I raised my concern with her. Lastly, the gentleman who took our payment, again didn’t look like he wanted to be there and wasn’t paying attention. Didn’t smile or seem interested in his job at all. Overall, Red dog is an amazing place to eat, the food is incredible! Luckily I wouldn’t let the members of staff who were clearly having a bad day reflect on the staff members who were amazing, or the amazing kitchen staff who work hard to make the most amazing food. I do recommend Red Dog, and I will be returning as I main to try every burger on the menu, but I would recommend keeping an eye on certain staff members because I’d hate for there to be a bad reflection because of some bad days.
The carnivore platter was very over cooked, chewy and tasteless. Nowhere near worth the £49 we paid for it. Would not recommend.
Poor service had to ask for knife and fork, staff never asked how our food was and can’t say it was value for money!
Service wasn’t great
Food was over priced
Didn’t get any chips with burger which was a shock
Automatically had 10% tip added on
A great place to eat, central to the city and with a great feel. Food was delicious and the 2 for 1 cocktails before 7 were delicious.
Hair in the burger, replaced by another meant to be exactly the same but missing ingredients like cheese! How does that even happen!
The food was tasty. The service was overall good. Just a few things forgotten, drinks took a while to get to the table. The food portions were quite small in comparison to other smoke houses we’ve been to. More chips than meat. Probably wouldn’t go again as the other smoke houses locally are better. (Reds True BBQ for eg)
Great food, great sized booth, excellent service by friendly staff
Where to start.... we initially came into the restaurant as we had a booking, the waiter then asked if any of the guests had allergies (which 1 did). To then be told shortly after that everything in had 'egg' in. Which was very odd for a BBQ place. I've never heard of BBQ food to have egg in, including chips which is a very confusing one to be honest and all the guest could eat was a salad. We left, and then returned as we called to ask if the Pork Ribs had 'egg' in them, to which we were told 'no'. So, this could've all been done at the start meaning 30 minutes would not have been wasted in deciding on if we stay or if we leave. We then ordered and the food was very good, but the service was poor. If any of your guests have any allergies I would avoid this place at all costs as they really don't know what they are doing when it comes to allergies.
Amazing burger, very pricey. Used to have weekend deals but they have gone. Bit of a shame
No one took an order from us for 20 minutes, burgers were inedible due to the amount of salt on them, loaded fries and cocktails were good though.
The food tasted great but the portions are a little small vs how big it all looks in the promo pictures. Prices were ok but burgers come separate to food.
Service was only ok. I would probably visit again but not in a great hurry
We ordered the 6 piece chicken wings which came out raw (we do have pictures to back this up) and had to ask for the dish to be sent back to the kitchen, nothing then came of this to which we then had to ask to speak to the manager. As a result £3.50 was removed from the bill - which is not the point - however this was appreciated. Sadly, we will not be returning.
Food was amazing really nice recommend too meat eaters
Fantastic food and service only thing is gents toilets had mystery liquid on floor
The food was absolutely incredible! We had been looking forward to trying here for a while. Incredible food and the staff are so accommodating, friendly and welcoming. The only fault I had was the restaurant itself was really cold. But the food, service and everything else was fab. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Love the food! Outstanding service from the restaurant crews
Recommended and I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are hungry
Possibly the best burger I’ve ever eaten, good value for money the only thing that let the night down was there wasn’t many beers draft or bottles available and had to wait 15 minutes after we got our food for cutlery and sauces, but overall very good
Lovely food, friendly staff, but the food took over an hour to arrive, others who ordered after us seemed to be getting their food so somehow our order seemed to get missed and eventually our server realised and apologised. The food made up for it though, really tasty and didnt disappoint.
Poor service. We had to ask several times for drinks and the food order was wrong on many levels when it arrived. No rush to go back
Poor service, still waiting for a drink I paid for I reckon
I was unsure about booking due to some of the 1 star reviews on trip advisor but I’m so glad I didn’t listen to them! The food was unreal! Burgers were insane, juicy and full of flavour! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend!
Food is good however the menu isn’t clear at all and your meal will end up at lot more expensive than you anticipated
Crammed right next to another table so asked to move then food didn’t come for an hour and 10 mins didn’t have what I ordered pulled pork sandwich glasses got smaller when ordering cocktails will never go again awful experience
Food overpriced and nothing special. £12.50 for a standard burger that doesn't come with chips/ a side isn't good value.
Service OK but everyone seemed unsure what they should be doing.
Manager seemed very inconvenienced when we turned up with a push chair, shoved us in the furthest corner then proceeded to sit a loud party of 14 next to us.
Food was incredible, massive portions, and outstanding flavour 10/10 would recommend to any bbq lovers, would definitely go again
Ordered platter came within 10mins which was to quick for the type of food, realised the food was re-heated! Staff were building something in next room and making a lot of noise! Will not return!!
Always enjoy red dog. Only thing that I can complain about is loaded fries weren’t hot and they had run out of tomato juice at 7.30pm.
Clean plates all round. Great wings
Great food and great value for money. Music just a bit too loud
Overall the food was lovely but we though the price was very expensive, it’s silly how you don’t get any sides with it. You pay £12.50 for a burger and then you have to pay £4 more for fries! it’s stupid. Compared to your Instagram page and the photos you add we expected a lot more than what we got, the flavour was nice but the overall burger was very dissapointing, we are glad we came but we won’t be coming again until something changes regarding price.
Amazing food and restaurant. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Punisher burger with fries 10/10
Luke from Sheffield
I had a smashed burger which was very tasty but abit on the small side, next time I would probably order a normal burger as I noticed others who had them they looked alot more filling! My friend had a brisket sandwich that was packed with meat, I tried abit it was tasty but very dry! But is a nice place good atmosphere! I would definitely visit again just order something different next time.
First time coming here and loved the food! It was quiet so service was quick and the girl who served us was really nice!
Food was basic and a tasteless.£7.50 for “loaded cities” was a little plate of chips wi mince on top 🤣bare in mind we drive over 50 miles to try this place! Never again
Good themed restaurant in central Notts. Food and service was fine, but the final bill was extortionate, £95 for 3 of us, couple of drinks each, some fried chicken and a couple of starters to share.
Server did not realise one meal was missing, one meal was cooked rare instead of medium well. Spent it back and it took 25 minutes for another burger to come out.
Had multiple servers which made following up with food very poor. As our main waitress did not even realise a dish had been sent back.
The food was really good! However the price of the burgers does not come with fries, which makes the meal quite expensive.
