Red Dog Saloon is an Austin, TX Barbecue restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.
Barbecue grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smoldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavor, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

Love the restaurant- loved the food- it was busy but the service was lacking. We usually tip very well for good service but couldn’t even justify the 10% on the bill. Will definitely be back but hopefully the personal touch improves, it was just “can I take your drinks order” “can I take your food order” nothing personal but having worked in hospitality- putting in that extra for the customer does go a long way. Had to ask 3 different people for side plates as most forgot to bring them. Etc etc Was a good evening for our anniversary but shame about the service.

Came yesterday on a date and ordered the USS oregan. When ordering we were told they had no beans and would we like fries instead we agreed. When the platter arrived we noticed there was only one sausage we asked the waiter if there should be two and he went off and asked his colleagues, he came back and said I’ll go and get you another. When he returned he told us the chef had said no it’s just one. We explained to are paying for two people so surely there should be two, but left it like that. We finished the food which was lovely apart from the mash which was really nice but a little cold. And ordered two sticky toffee puddings which took a good 30minutes to come out and when they did the waiter said that one had gone funny and asked if we would still like it after having a look the bottom looked raw and sloppy so we decided to send it back, we didn’t get offered another dessert to replace it the waiter just brought another spoon over to share the one good dessert. When we asked for the bill we noticed they had charged us for a side of chips I explained that the lady that first served us had explained that there were no beans and did we want chips instead so we shouldn’t have to pay for them. The waiter then walked off and another waiter brought us the revised bill. The food was delicious but other things let it down.

Too noisy on a Saturday night if you want to talk properly. Quite pricey for what you get. Food took a long time coming because it was busy and when ours arrived it was cold and we had to send all four meals back then wait a further 20 minutes !

Food was fantastic as usual, service was pretty slow. Only downside is the crap music that was playing, used to have some good ol soul music on, start playing some decent country music 😌

We thoroughly enjoy our visits to Red Dog in Southampton. The selection of food is impressive, and usually good quality. The service is normally good, and occasionally exceptional. In this occasion, the food was good, but not the usual high standard we’re used to. The brisket seemed quite dry, the ribs were quite tough and a few other minor irritations. Not enough to stop us coming again, but a little disappointed. The service on this occasion felt a bit like we were being rushed. We were eating quite a substantial amount of food, and had paused for a few short moments with food still on the dishes, and got asked if we were all done, as one example. The music seems to have gone down hill in recent years, seeming to get more rowdy and loud. Rather than fitting with the theme of the restaurant much. As I said, we’ll likely go again, we really enjoy the food overall, and hopefully this instance was a one off.

I have been to red dog twice this week, once with family and once with a friend. Both times the food has been excellent! Great presentation, well cooked food, cant fault that one bit. Service at red dog is the only thing that lets them down. Both visits service wasn't great,.. when we are ready to order i found myself looking around for a server, same if you wanted another drink or the bill. The server did check back in both times to see how the food was, but overall thats the only thing that kets red dog down.

Food was well.made and was delicious. There were 5 of us and we all.had different meals but all were lovely. Our server was great, we were not rushed. A lovely meal out!
