Red Gum BBQ
Red Gum BBQ uses only free range & grass fed meat and Pitmaster Martin & his crew slowly smoke these with red gum over custom made pits in house daily, to ensure diners get the mouth watering meat they have come to expect from us. The meat is the star but at times its overshadowed by our amazing Southern-style sides & desserts - from cornbread with honey butter, to brisket chili cheese fries, broccoli salad with buttermilk dressing & pumpkin pie. Things Melissa remembers from growing up in the Southern US.
Enjoy the largest selection of Victorian craft beers on tap on the Peninsula - carefully selected to support small brewers and the best and most unique new beers out there. Our wines are Mornington Peninsula's finest.

It was our first time visiting and it was delicious we will definitely be coming back. The food...amazing...the service great...the atmosphere..lovely.
Aw always amazing!!!! Food fab, space fab, staff fab, drink....first time I've tried it but fab!
Food was pretty good, however prices were excessive given portion sizes.
Great BBQ flavours in a nice open and airy setting, can be noisey i think but we had a great night.
Amazing food at reasonable prices. Service is fast and there are plenty of staff to take your order. It can be quite loud given the open dining area but it adds to the atmosphere. The only improvement I would suggest is a few smaller tables for occasions where you don't want to be sitting next to strangers.
Our first visit and it was great. It was a relaxed and friendly environment with great food. Definitely the spot for my next family gathering.
Food was outstanding, the staff where very friendly, Martin was great , definitely go back again
Brilliant food, friendly service and did I mention brilliant food
The food was great, they seriously know what their doing. Great atmosphere. We will definitley come back.
A little disappointed 2 slices of brisket for $31 a bit steep and 1 slice 2/3rds fat that didn’t eat previous photos on gallery didn’t reflect on what wa served
Ambience is great. Good rustic atmosphere. It was very warm inside, despite the high roof line and some large fans, and we were seated far away from the
hot smoker equipment. Not sure what the comfort level would be on an actual hot day, (It was a pleasant 22 degrees outside when we visited). The food is delicious, however very expensive for my mind, i. e. $36 for 300 pork ribs, which was 5 ribs with very little meat, or $21 for 150 grans of brisket, which seemed like about 75 grams on the plate. Would visit again for a special occasion or with a larger group, which may make it seem better value.
A bit disappointed in meat selection, no big steaks, only brisket, no lamb, pork ribs had little meat on them
Sides were all good....sevice is excellent
Delicious food, great atmosphere. Food came quickly, though hit and miss with the staff.
We purchased one of everything and got to experience all the wonderful food. Great experience. The food was amazing and well presented.
Great food and service was excellent and the meals came out quickly
Nice spot tucked away in beautiful Red Hill. Food was amazing, service was great and price was reasonable for what you get. 10/10 would recommend.
Not in the least bit palatable .. overpriced and underfed .
Lovely flavours for what we were dished up but very small serves. Hard to share 2 slices of brisket with 8 people. Ribs were extremely overpriced at
$69 for 600g and not that great. 8 tiny chicken wings... no where near enough as all dishes were meant to be shared. Salads were ridiculously small again expecting to share and again over priced for what was served. Hand cut chips.. a joke!! Looked like chip scraps and over priced for the serve we were given! We ordered what was recommended and it wasn’t nearly enough! Oh and dessert was yum but expensive!
The food was very flavoursome and the meat was so tender , I would highly recommend this place to my friends
What a fantastic place! Everything was top notch, we will be back, thankyou
Nice flavoured ribs but disappointing the amount of meat on the ribs. Not sure about the corn bread as a side aa it was more like a dessert. Chilli fries were ok.
Excellent food, great service, great atmosphere.
We can’t keep away
Great place for the family, a couple of big shade sales would have made sitting more pleasant.
Loved it! The service, food and atmosphere were all amazing! Loved the menu and the food was delicious!
What a great place!
Good quality American BBQ food. Value for money I think the serves are what you would expect.
And what a place. The setup is awesome, decor, everything.
A must if you love your meats and looking for a new place to go
Good food good service. Love the local (Melbourne) craft beer selection and great cornbtead
Great setting. Nice freindly staff. good food. Loved it
Food was disappointing. $36 for 6 of the smallest ribs I’ve seen. Hardly any meat on them and the meat that was on them wasn’t tender. Sausages were spicy but bland. Pickles and cauliflower steak was the only saving grace.
Have been looking forward to eating at this BBQ place for some time and it did not disappoint!! Meat, sides and dessert all delicious and service was lovely. Great spot for kids too. Thank you Red Gum BBQ!!
Great spot for a casual dinner with great food & an atmosphere comfortable for all kinds of groups.
Drinks & food equally as delicious & price point is slightly more expensive than you would expect but it makes up for it in service & atmosphere & venue location.
amazing meats and smokey atmosphere but very expensive for portion sizes
Great food, cozy setting and lovely staff.
The smoke/bbq smell was extremely strong though and left smelling of smoke. Staff could also be a bit more attentive to seeing if you needed more drinks/water etc.
Overall experience was really great though. Food is always delicious.
Great place to catch up with some friends. The staff were super friendly and provided fantastic service. The food was as expected... AMAZING! The Ribs and Beef brisket was our tables favorite. The chili chips were the perfect side.
Really tasty unique Southern cooking. Service was great even though it was really busy. Will be back !
We thought the venue was fantastically set up, the atmosphere was alive and we loved the staff and service. However I found the slow cooked meats were a little the same flavour and really quite expensive for what we got. Just a little to costly for Lunch? Most probably won’t come back. Not really value for money. Unfortunately.
We had the Valentines Day special which we thought was very good value as it included a drink and dessert, it was all delicious - we ended up taking the leftovers home as we couldn't get through it. The space was really relaxing and comfortable. Would definitely come back again maybe for a family gathering!
This was such a fantastic find, the decor was gorgeous, the music awesome, the staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. The meal was a little on the pricey side but worth every penny.
Love red gum, the food is incredible. You really do get what you pay for, the food is sourced and cooked with love and you can tell.
Now been to Red Gum BBQ twice, will be going back again and again Thanks Guys
Food was nice but I think it’s over priced, $100 for a couple and 2x of the sides were Mac n cheese and raw broccoli
