Always have liked the Red Lion, been many times before. Our last visit food quality had gone downhill.
Menu not changed much either.
Maybe it’s just the current climate? We will visit again to see if there will be an improvement, if there not then we shan’t be returning.

Fantastic food and service, very attentive and thoughtful staff who asked if we wanted a bowl of water for our dogs. Was going to go back next week as we enjoyed it so much, not with Tier 4 sadly!

Although discretionary I do feel it slightly enforced when a restaurant puts a service charge on the bill they present you. The service was ok, just ok, not that there was a problem with it but we weren’t asked if our food was okay, which I would consider a basic thing for a venue like this. As above, the service was ok, however, I didn’t consider the service worthy of a 12.5% service charge but not could be bothered with embarrassment / awkwardness of asking for it to be removed. It was a nice meal/experience but with a slight improvement in staff training it could have been superb. Service is everything.

Lovely and Festive with a great team and atmosphere. Hollie (her birthday is 23rd December) was excellent and very attentive. Lovely pub in a beautiful village. Good food and excellent wine. Hope the Green man can open again next year to add even more reasons to drive to Grantchester!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with excellent food (flat iron chicken) and a great ambience, with good service. Also fine attention was made to Covid guidelines without spoiling the occasion. A wonderful pick me up experience in these difficult days.

Had a really lovely meal here on Sunday, we both had roast turkey and it was amazing. The team serving us were all great too. Drinks came quickly too, and the Shiraz was great. Lovely environment to eat in too, really great experience. Thanks to the team.

No lunch time menu. So you either eat a starter, child's meal or spend £16 on an evening meal.

The reduced menu is very poor - my daughter is celiac and requires gluten free food but there were no gluten free starters, very limited main courses and only ice cream available as a gluten free desert. My venison ragu was tasteless, and there was only 1 bitter at the bar (Green King IPA). I understand that these are challenges times but the menu should be more inclusive and each of the limited options should strong ones.

A lovley pub that we have attended many times.
However we waited an hour for a starter, our sons allergies weren’t taken on board either. So unfortunately will not be returning.

Great food and a warm (but very Covid-compliant) welcome when we had lunch there on Friday. The Christmas burger was excellent, and the session ale was lovely too. Recommended.

Fantastic lunch at the Red Lion, very attentive and helpful staff, so thoughtful with my elderly parents. Really great food and service. Beautiful spot hidden away in Granchester we will be back!
Great experience as always. The Red Lion is my favourite local pub and we enjoyed the last lunch before the second lockdown hits. The updated menu is very good, both my slow cooked venison sauce pasta and apple crumble were great autumnal dishes. Staff are welcoming and covid measures sensible. Pub is also very child and dog friendly.
Roast was poor, sticky gravy. Rubbish horseradish. Waiter was unapologetic. Will not return
Overall a good place to eat and drink with your other half especially for a cooked Sunday lunch . Would highly recommend this to anyone. Worth the while to book first .
The Red Lion is about a 20 minute drive for us, and it's really good to have it as one of a favoured handful of trusted restaurants closeby that you can go back to and know you'll get a good meal and great service

The Red Lion is reliably 'very good' ... never had a bad experience there ... we shall definitely return again with our family or friends when lockdown is over.

Such a fantastic pub - this is my third visit now and it gets better each time! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, a great selection of drinks, and some of the best pub food we’ve ever had. The layout and procedures felt totally Covid-secure too, so no worries there. All in all, a really positive experience all round - we can’t wait to go back again.
The coffees were cold, had them changed still cold. The place was cold.
Over priced, 12 1/2 percent service charge. Saying all that the food was very nice. Well overpriced for fish and chips and burgers
Visited the Red Lion on a busy Tuesday lunch and had a great time. Covid procedures make you feel very safe and the service was impeccable. Ashley our waiter was so friendly and very helpful with recommendations and helping us rebook our next visit. Food was superb! Can’t wait to return for our next visit!!!!
