Very friendly atmosphere & dishes we ordered were all nice. It seems the deep fried whole chicken is the most popular dish, which we didn’t order, and it comes with a firework stick, very entertaining. Had a live band with uplifting music which was wonderful but if you are there for chat & catch-up, suggest to get a table away from the band as it’s quite loud (but if you like the music, stay close to them & maybe dance!). The only downside was the waitresses keep coming every 5-10min (so many of them!), asking if everything was ok, which interrupted our conversations & got on our nerves. Friendliness is good but it’s too much. Would suggest to watch attentively from distance whether any customers require attention instead. Overall it’s a nice place & good for a birthday party or something.
We had Sunday brunch to coincide with the amazing Gospel Choir. A really enjoyable experience.
Food is average but the choir is fabulous!!!
Great place with live music! Food and jams, best combo ever. The band did a great job entertaining the crowd. Enjoyed it!
Ambiance and food is lovely. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Have been here a few times now on a Friday and the only negative I have is that it's the same live singer on a Friday and she always sings the same songs. She is a good singer, but would he nice to hear some new material.
Great food and service but boy is the live music LOUD. Impossible to have a conversation, so if you're happy to just make eyes and/or use semaphore, great. Otherwise, ask for a quieter table. The staff were brilliantly accommodating and moved us when it all got a bit too much. A delicious evening though - and I would go again (with my ear trumpet in my handbag).
I loved the set up and staff and the choir. I wasn't too keen on my vegetarian option of sweet potato steak. It was drowned in a very salty sauce and in fact didn't finish it. Overpriced for a sweet potato. But my partner was very happy and we had a fabulous time . I'll come again but won't order the same. I would have loved a fried fish option :)
Great food & atmosphere, highly recommended for a Sunday lunch with fun entertainment
The House Gospel Brunch is a must go experience. Thoroughly uplifting!
Fab place with a great vibe, live music and good food
Lovely food and ambience however noisy if you want to enjoy a meal and chat
Food and cocktails/drinks took a very long time to arrive but they were both enjoyable
Very helpful and friendly staff
Celebrated wife’s birthday! Excellent food and service! The Tuesday night band was amazing!
Here visiting from the States and everything was SUPERB!!
What a fabulous experience! We booked the gospel Sunday brunch on 1st September and had a great time. Excellent service, great food, wine and cocktails and the gospel choir was just amazing. We will definitely be back!!
5 of us went for the Sunday Gospel Brunch for a family celebration and the Red Rooster hit the all the right spots. We were originally at the 'back' but they did move us to a brill table neat the choir. Our server was fantastic- friendly, helpful & even asked us if we wanted to hold the mains till the choir had sung. The food & cocktails were lovely & the choir talented & fun. Time yourself so you have finished with the menus/ starters & can pay attention to the performance .
We had an amazing time at the Red Rooster. We booked a table for the Gospel Brunch, which was truly a great experience. The atmosphere, the food, the people (including the staff) was fab!
The original restaurant in Harlem is amazing, like going to somebody’s house for a big energetic family dinner, but this branch was disappointing - just another loud London restaurant. Service was a bit erratic and odd, the coeliac in our party was given very little guidance on the menu (“Can I eat this?” “No.” “How about this?” “No.” ... ad infinitum) and pretty much the only option available to him was quite boring, and my god the place was loud. Had been looking forward to it but wouldn’t go back.
Such an amazing experience with the gospel brunch - my boyfriend loved the fried chicken waffle, and I had fairly good vegan options, that were very tasty. The music was awesome (a bit less gospel than I’d hoped but still awesome) and they got everyone dancing which was so fun. Service with Christy was amazing, and I’d definitely go back!
Good food with a great atmosphere. The portions are huge and we definitely over ordered. There was live music which gave it a really good vibe
Easy for tourists to find. Waitstaff courteous, knowledgeable, and just plain nice. Very happy place. Warning--ambiance is happy, energetic, and LOUD--but it is joy. No serious conversations till after all the wannabe dancers have mingled and jumped.
Went for the gospel brunch and the choir were fantastic. Enjoyed the cocktails and the service was friendly. Just found the food, although nice, to be totally overpriced.
Had a very good time at red rooster, highly recommend
What a brilliant evening out. Food, cocktails and music are all outstanding. Super friendly, positive atmosphere and service.
We went for Gospel Brunch and it was brilliant. The food was lovely, the cocktails were amazing and the service was super friendly and helpful. We had a really fun date. Pretty good value for money too. Probably better suited to those that are not too shy to join in a bit!
Yes the atmosphere was great. Service friendly. Food was fantastic and I highly recommend the gospel brunch.
The food was really disappointing. We ordered the Bird Royale Feast for 2 people to share (£44) because it came with a lot of sides. The biscuits tasted overwhelmingly of cheese, the waffles were dry and the mac'n'cheese was fine but nothing special, I've had way better at other places in London. The chicken was bland so you really needed the sauces and gravy but they came in very small pots so we asked for more. The service was great, the staff were very welcoming and quick. The menu contains hardly any information on what you're getting or why it's special or interesting. Also for some reason they present the whole fried bird first with a rocket candle before they take it away to be chopped up. Honestly, this is really embarrassing. They do it so you can take a picture but two adults eating dinner on a saturday night are not going on the gram to post a picture of fried chicken with a candle in it. That experience was awkward.
Love everything about it but it's just simply too loud
The choir was great and the ambiance lively, however the food was very disappointing. Sadly, it looked better than it tasted. It was very bland, overpriced, and not the well seasoned soul food I was expecting. Unfortunately, I will not be returning in the near future.
Had the best time! Went on Sunday and didn't expect the Gospel Choir to be singing house music - they were amazing! It was great fun with everyone up and dancing! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional. Would highly recommend and will be going again!
Love the gospel choir and that is the only reason I’d go back. Food is expensive and not very tasty unless you order the posh KFC. Service is friendly but slow. Meals not served at the same time, stuff missing etc.
Staff polite and attentive.
Vibe is good especially with the live band.
Will be visiting again.
It was quite disappointing as I was really looking forward to the gospel brunch experience. I order the breakfast sandwich, my friend order the waffle and purple gang cocktails.
Drinks - inconstancy the first 2 were completely different colour from the second 2 and were warm.
Breakfast sandwich- I sent it back to the kitchen 4 x and only ended up eating the last one as I was starving and my friend had already finished by this point. The sandwich was swimming in water and was soggy. When I finically got my food 45 mins later it was tasteless. The kitchen really need to get it together. If a dish isn’t working well take it off the menu.
The waffle- 3/4 of a waffle to be precise came cold and was not very impressive at all.
Overall a pretty poor ode to Harlem.
Service wasn’t great, we were given the bill without asking for it, the sandwich wasn’t initially take off the bill then it was. Nothing was done to rectify the experience and the service was still applied. Staff seemed generally disinterested and did not even say goodbye until we did.
House Gospel Choir was the best thing about our experience.
1st time here at the Red Rooster after finding the entrance it was a very good experience. Food was delicious with plenty of flavours. The service was good very attentive. Love the pictures in the restaurant. Didn't get chance to listen to the band as we were in a rush. I will come back again.
The aguachile which I saw on tv and specifically went for was outstanding - layers of flavour.
Pietro was exceptionally helpful and pleasant.
The ambience, concept, location and live music are great.
The chicken dish that my friend ordered was delicious, superbly battered and fried.
My lamb ravioli / lamb shoulder special dish worked well and was flavoursome but it didn’t knock my socks off.
I guess if they had a tasting menu that would be a value addition.
Went on a Sunday...Sooooooo wish the house choir was on for longer had a fantastic experience
Red Rooster gospel lunch was good but not great. We booked a table for 6 people months in advance but ended up slightly behind the singers under a speaker, so the sound was deafening but we could only see the backside of one of the singers.
Great venue and lovely music yet very loud. the food was very expensive and not special. The portions were small and the fries were soft. Staff was Nice but forgot our requests. If you want to spend this kind of money on food, go to a better restaurant.
Place is great with good vibe and really good food. Only bad thing, the portion sizes were maybe a bit small for the price we paid. Other than that, 5 star!!!
