Food is ok, some things overly ambitious. Convenient if at the hotel, otherwise it's likely you can get better quality elsewhere. Service was excellent.
Always wonderful service and great food, including separate vegan menu.
OpenTable 2000+ reviews is NOT reflective of our experience, calling into doubt the review operations. We were one of maybe 5 tables occupied that evening, and had to (try to) call waiters many times for service. Food was acceptable only, with some items that should have been hot merely warm, which given the number of diners was very poor indeed. Overall dissapointing given the very high %age good reviews on OpenTable, and as per my line one, it is impossible to see how it can have got 2000+ good reviews.
Highly recommend them for their service, tasty tapas and wonderful cocktails which are delicious and pack a punch. Delightfully consistent.
We’ve been to Refuel quite a few times now and decided to go a la carte this time rather than choose from the set menu. The food was completely delicious and the service was great as always.
Great venue. Good food & reasonable value for the location. Lovely setting & great staff!
Four of us went for afternoon tea on a Saturday which was actually served in the lounge area, rather than in the restaurant. We were seated in a colourful lounge area with a large coffee table that could of easily have sat 8-10 people around it. So the 4 of us were seated on one side/corner of it. It wasn’t busy so we were able to relax without feeling rushed, and noone else was seated with us.
The staff were friendly and smiley, and as we were celebrating a birthday, they kindly brought out a berry fruit platter for the birthday girl towards the end which was a lovely gesture.
The afternoon tea itself was good value. The staff were really accommodating with swapping the sandwiches as we had an egg allergy in our party. The warm scones were delicious. The green tea wasabi cup cake was defiantly a taste twist, and we left feeling surprisingly stuffed for the good value of £24.00 pp. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
Very good food other than the menu for vegetarians is very limited and below par for 2019. Pasta or risotto not thrilling choices and something you could easily make at home.
The steak was delicious though and great service.
We were on the fixed price deal including a glass of Aperol spritz. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious, all served at a spacious round table. Great location and value (£40 a head including 2 bottles of decent wine), looking forward to another visit. Seeing the kitchen in action makes you realise how much effort goes into this ...
A great place for a date’ friendly, welcoming too.
Great food, amazing staff were so attentive and made the evening that little bit more special
Great service and freshly prepared beautiful food. You can’t fault the atmosphere too. The Fish & Chips were delightful!
The set menu is really great value for money. Highly recommended.
Amazingly sophisticated food even in the set menu (baked beetroot was superb as well as the chicken ballotine). My friends went for a la carte and sang the praises of their lamb and salads. The restaurant felt like an oasis of calm and relaxation in the heart of overcrowded and noisy Soho. It is beautifully decorated and the service is superb: the smiling staff has found exactly the right balance, being very friendly and attentive but without assentation. All in all, what a gem!
Great experience overall. I will definitely come back.
Refuel is my go to place to eat when meeting up with my family .
We had lovely service and food in a calm relaxing environment
The set menu has three alternatives per course and the two that we ordered were great. The desserts seemed quite limited, though, next time I might try the ones out of the menu.
The service was astounding, courteous without being intrusive, and they made us feel comfortable and special. I will certainly go back.
Really lovely evening with friends
Set menu is not as good as previously. Started is a Herring salad, it's ok. Main course is something bacon wrapped in chicken, it's a bit salty and not very delicious. The most disappointing is the dessert, Eton Mess. There's no merringe and it's a bit watery . However the service is excellent, staff are very friendly and polite and ambient is nice
Return visit to refuel with friends. Excellent value deal with Aperol Spritz included in set menu. Sat at bar for pre dinner drink. Bar team awesome, engaging with customers and great drinks. Dinner service just a touch off on this visit. One starter wrong so I ended up having my starter when everyone had finished theirs. Also the chicken ballottine main dish was not to my taste...more ham taste and puréed chicken centre...however others in my party enjoyed it. Dessert was good, but cheese option was in fact just one cheese which was probably not as ripe as it should have been to enjoy at its best. All in all an enjoyable visit, great atmosphere and very pleasant surroundings. With a few tweaks it would have been 5* which is my expectation, based on previous visits.
Had a lovely get together with a friend at the Soho Hotel! Great food lovely staff -attentive but-not overbearing. Lovely surroundings and delicious food
Good atmosphere, some of the food was fantastic, but other bits were very average. We went on the set menu and it wasn't clear what was and wasn't within the menu which made us wary of accepting anything offered (despite it turning out to be free). Polite staff. Drinks were expensive so we avoided - £10 for the cheapest glass of wine.
Great service, great food.
This meal was a gathering of friends for my birthday. I found it strange there was a waiter not assigned to our table but it didn’t matter as the staff were all attentive without being overbearing. I found the lighting to be a little too dark in the evening. If you are on a budget the wine is a little pricy but the service and quality of the food and drinks was very good and so for a special occasion was worth it for the experience. I am disabled and although there are steps to enter from the main reception the staff saw me come out of the taxi and immediately came rushing to offer a step free alternative route to the dining area
I would go back for another meal as the food and quality of staff/service were wonderful
The staff was very welcoming and made our experience their priority!
Locale molto curato, servizio attento alle esigenze del cliente. I camerieri ci hanno letteralmente viziati. Cibo buono.
Ci tornerei volenteri
Lovely food, excellent service and the aperol spritz with the deal was the icing on the cake!
Amazing service from very friendly waiters , fantastic salmon curry , very nice cocktails!
Marvelous evening! Extraordinary service; the best we have had in London, even at much 'finer' restaurants, including the one at the luxury hotel we are staying at now. As a culinarian I appreciated very much that the food was beautifully presented and delicious. My overall impression was that Refuel went above and beyond in every way, including unexpected treats and genuine, eye-contact kindness. Beyond that, the volume level was great. The room was lively but because of the room design, we could talk quietly amongst ourselves and not miss a word. I would not hesitate to recommend Refuel to anyone visiting or staying in London.
Attentive service, good food and a good set menu deal.
I choose the full Refuel breakfast, which includes any hot dishes, I had the pancakes with bacon with an add of hash brown. from the menu, plus they have this outstanding buffet station with fresh (extremely fresh) fruits, granola, cereals, pastries, yogurt etc.
The staff is always very kind, attentive and considerate.
They were doing some work right outside the hotel, so the noise was a little bit loud but didn't bother me so much.
I have recommended Refuel to a number of friends/work colleagues. Refuel is always a pleasure
great food, relaxed atmosphere and very attantve staff. can only recommend
I have dined at Refuel quite a few times and have always loved it due to its buzzy ambience, the eclectic decor and the good food. This time I had a bad experience due to poor service from one individual and Refuel were kind enough to compensate me with a free meal for two which I've now had.
I can reassure you that the service was absolutely impeccable this time. The food was also delicious - the Vanilla and Ginger Cheesecake, Macerated Strawberries is one of the best cheesecakes I have ever tasted, and I have eaten a lot of cheesecake in my life. Huge thanks to Refuel for turning things around - it is greatly appreciated.
Smart venue, great food and wine. Service could have been a little more prompt especially with drinks to begin with. Otherwise couldn’t fault the experience and would recommend.
We booked dinner for a group of 5 last Friday night after eating there once before and enjoying the food.
We all ordered from the set menu (2 courses for £19.50 or 3 courses for £24.50 per person, including an Aperol Spritz).
Service was friendly and quick throughout the night and food was delivered at appropriate intervals. However, the drink service was noticeably slow all night to the point it became a running joke.
The lamb is highly recommended (all 5 of us ordered it) but be sure to add chips or another side as what is included is not enough.
The set menu dessert options are disappointing and limited (especially for an additional £5). We opted for the regular dessert menu which for a couple pounds more, is well worth it.
I’m not a foody but the Avocado and Lime Cheesecake with raspberries and honeycomb is the most delicious and complex (equally) dessert I’ve had in years. Just writing about it makes me want it again.
Overall, a great evening and very reasonably priced for central London.
Good ambience, good food and the set menu is very good value. I would come back for more.
Fabulous meal in a lively restaurant. Perfect for people watching
The £20 for 2 courses deal is excellent value, although drinks are expensive and you will have to order sides.
Nice vibe and great location.
Nice restaurant with fantastic service. Portion sizes are a bit small but overall great food.
