One of two pubs still standing in Brighton that applied for the original 'Beer Shop Licence' in 1830, it’s richly decorated in the Regency style of that era - strewn with ornate furnishings, gilt mirrors and luxurious drapes. Even the lavatories here come complete with mirror balls and sparkle …
There’s plenty of substance to go with the style though. The Regency Tavern offers a wide choice of traditional cask ales and distinctive international lagers, as well as an excellent wine selection, sourced from independent producers around the world.
And it wouldn’t be The Regency without a sparkling atmosphere to backdrop your dinner and drinks.
Fantastic team. Food was lovely . Highly recommend
Lovely pub..... lovely food and beer... and very well looked after by Jason. Thank you
It's the place to be on cabaret nights. Great staff, service and music.
Very welcoming, brilliant show, outstanding services and very Covid friendly.
Wednesday offer of 2 pies 2 sides for £10 outstanding value. Service very good by a young man working on his own front of house. Only down side was £24 for a bottle of pinot grigio. Overall very good
Great meal, great staff, great fun - thank you :-)
Amazing roast with loads of veg but disappointed that only lamb was available, no other roast choices
Absolutely loved eating here, the food was delicious, the staff were lovely and engaging, and the place itself was cosy yet wonderfully decorated. We will definitely be back!
Lively pub, intriguing decor, friendly service and great pies for dinner.
A wonderful night watching the brilliant Chris Hide singing. Would definitely go again. Very friendly pub, nice pies, ended up singing and dancing along! Good night had by all.
I was celebrating my birthday. Unfortunately there was two separate table for a party of 9. There seemed to be one member of staff on rushing around doing everything.
When the food came it was just average , most of us had roasts. The house wine to my horror was £ 19 a bottle. Overall it was a bit disappointing.
Very good quality food at a reasonable price attentive staff took a while for food to arrive but wasn't in a hurry so a good Sunday lunch
Fantastic friendly venue. Clean, really nice decor and staff. Well worth a visit. Good mix of locals use it too. Off the beaten track. Food is delicious, hot and very nice. Opens from noon everyday
Sunday roast was fine. Service was good, it was reasonably priced.
Really good Sunday lunch, all fresh veg and meat was a good cut!
Staff friendly and polite.. generally a nice place to have s quiet Sunday lunch 😊
This pub is such a charmer. It's unique, a bit quirky and the vibe is so welcoming. The staff are super attentive and friendly. Love it!
We had a fantastic night last Friday, my sister and I both opted for a veggie pie , (named Heidi)
this was very tasty, she had chips with hers and I had mushy peas.
The live singer (Jason Lee) was absolutely amazing and enthralled everyone.
Really good night was had by all
We've been to The Regency Tavern quite a few times for Sunday dinner but not for a while. It's always been pretty good but I'm afraid to say that after this last visit we won't go back again.
I had the roast pork and the other two had beef. I only had two small slices of pork and by the time I'd cut the thick fat off the edges I ended up with a piece of meat the size of the palm of my hand. The 3 spuds were a decent size but certainly not crispy. The veg was alright but they had no cauliflower gratin left so we had to have the leek one which was a tiny dish between the 3 of us. Two of us had apple pie and custard afterwards (still hungry!) which was quite nice but very obviously shop bought and the pastry was rather spongy and cake-like however, we did enjoy it.
What really lets this place down now is the pub itself. It used to be very flamboyant and bright with lovely lighting and quirky decor but after 15 years the decor is still exactly the same and extremely tired looking with flaky paint and peeling wallpaper in places. There was even something red splashed up the front of the bar near the ladies which could have been wine or even blood. Clean it off! My partner rested his arm on the back of the bench seat at one point and got the sleeve of his jumper caught on a nail sticking up! The place needs a damn good clean and one of the ladies toilets was unmentionable! I think all of this was reflected in the fact that the place was not even half full. Years ago you were lucky to get a table without booking two weeks in advance. They really could do with stripping the place completely and revamping what used to be a great little pub. The staff are nice and the live keyboard player/singer is a lovely touch (shame the big piano isn't there any more though).
