Arrived to be told I had no booking despite paying a deposit the week before. Also told no paperwork for my deposit.

Finally sat down at our table nearly half an hour after arriving. Only after we asked a second time to be seated. To be told it’s over there straight ahead. We couldn’t even see the table where we were sat at in the bar area. Lady promptly walked off.

No bread on table as informed. No salt and pepper. Only one small slice of bread given with page starter. All this despite butter on table.

Plenty of broccoli and carrots but only 13 roast potatoes between 6 people.

Mint sauce and horseradish sauce brought to table long after we started and only after we asked for some to be told it’s over there on the bar.

Waiter/waitress nor maitre de bothered to check on us once. Never asked if we needed anything not asked if we enjoyed the meal.

The Hotel was comfortable, staff were polite and friendly , the food was good and served hot, nice to see real ale on sale at bar , and good to see water wheel working now.
And the staff were very helpful getting me on my way out the snow . Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you.

a shame there is always a snag to spoil a review )

The Staff was fine apart from a lady who seemed to be in charge. She was very bossy and unwelcoming, and I felt Like she wanted me to say “forget it lets go”.

The wine and dine deal is good value for money. We did have to ask several times for wine which is a bit annoying, but food was good and there is lots of choice.

The meal deal, £25 for 3 courses and unlimited house wine, is very good value for money. Food was good quality with plenty of choices, if a little limited for vegetarian/vegan options. Service was top notch and at no point did we feel like non residents. Would be happy to recommend.

I booked this venue as I had never been inside, but had walked past it on so many occasions over the last few decades that I knew it was time to step inside - and I was so glad that I did.

The decor was great, the section of room where I had booked was far enough away form prying eyes and ears that we have a bit of privacy without feeling cut off from the outside world, and the food and drink was top notch.

It really helped to set the scene and the whole evening went off amazingly.

I will definitely rebook for my next event, or just for a lovely bit off nosh off the beaten track.

Many thanks again

This was my second visit to this lovely restaurant and my partners third and it didn't disappoint at all. Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and the service was polite, friendly and helpful in every way. I introduced my son and his girlfriend to the delights of restaurant 41 and they loved it.

We will be returning on August 12th and will be recommending it to our friends and family. You cannot beat this restaurant for wonderful food and drink, helpful friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere at a more than reasonable price.

See you again soon

Probably the best meal, all round, that I've had in the last 10 years ! I have been born and raised in Medway and I always thought the roffen was an 'exclusive' members only club. It may be so for the gym and poolbut i encourage you to visit it for a meal. Absolutely first class

4 of us came here for the first time after seeing the "3 courses for £15.50" deal. Nice decor and lighting. Very quiet for a Fri night, with gentle background music playing. Menu for the 3 course deal was limited but we all enjoyed what we had. My main course of salmon served with a chorizo and lentil stew was fantastic and the ham hock starter was good too. A decent wine list, and we enjoyed the chilian sauvignon blanc. Service was reasonable. Price very reasonable!

This is the first time we have been to the Roffen and the experience was very pleasant. We originally booked into the restaurant using open table but got a call from the manager explaining there was a large function taking place in the restaurant that was likely to be vocal (hen-night) and gave us the option of eating in the brasserie. We took this option and had an enjoyable night. Excellent food, with good portion sizes and very attentive staff. A nice venue, we'll definitely return.

The food and service were the high standard we have come to expect. What I particularly like is that, in addition to the main menu which changes monthly, you can order from the bistro menu and also have a starter as a main.

While they were a touch surprised to see non-members at a private members club, The Roffen were happy to accommodate us in their dining area. We'd booked early on a midweek evening, and were, in fact, the only diners at the time. Nevertheless, our host (who was also working the bar), went out of her way to make us feel welcome.

My dining partner and I ordered from the three-course set menu, and agree without hesitation that everything relating to the food itself was fantastic- the portion size, presentation and preparation were all extremely good. My duck a l'orange main was probably the best I've ever tasted, succulent and with sufficient sauce to provide flavour without overkill.

I'm happy to recommend the location very highly.

I booked the wine and dine which is excellent value and a comprehensive menu was given. The choice is not restrictive and you can choose from a The Bistro or restaurant menu or mix from both, I love the idea of an old school pudding which is changed along with the menus each month. The ambiance is wonderful for such a large building and a cosy restaurant. Our waitress Jane was very helpful and explained all the various options, the house wine which we had white and was very nice considering it was free whilst eating as part of the deal. The food was exceptional the swordfish steak and chocolate soufflé was perfection. We are not members as that was not required and we will be back.
