   We really enjoyed our meal of steak tartar followed by the hake. The staff were very friendly and we loved the surroundings. I would definitely recommend it

   The Acanthus restaurant presents itself as an upscale restaurant in a deluxe setting, but we were thoroughly disappointed with it. Service was slow and inattentive, so that several times we were left to wonder when we'd be able to order next. The French-styled food was not as good as you could get in any of half a dozen other restaurants in a radius of a few blocks: Pierre Victoire, Brasserie Blanc, or even Cafe Rouge would be more satisfying. Both my dining companion and I felt queasy after dining there, and we had completely different meals. The chicken Milanese was particularly unsatisfactory, stolid in texture and without much flavour despite the occasional hint of truffle in the jus. As for the dining room, it was a strange mixture of over-formal and tacky: high ceilings, chilly air, ridiculous college arms painted under the ceiling, and the thumping baseline of some completely inappropriate music, just audible enough to annoy.

   Excellent! We left 2 sandwiches and 2 cakes and we were not invited to have a doggy-bag as I had been last time I came. My companion didn't want me to ask for one and as it was her treat I left it. Do you not offer that service now?

   Special treat for my wife with surprise Champagne and Roses! Beautiful hotel and lovely Dining Room, The Acanthus. Very relaxed and refined and fitting for such a milestone. Only gripe is that the food could have been hotter but the service was first class and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Look forward to our next visit!!

   We had a great experience. We had to leave to go and catch the start of our play before our desserts were ready to come out. The staff said we could come back after the play and eat them later! They had to reset the table and seat and serve us again which was totally going out of their way, but they were so gracious about the whole thing. That would have never happened in the USA where we would have just been charged for the desserts without getting to eat them. I would highly recommend the restaurant for top notch service. The staff, setting, ambience and food all were great!

   From when the car was picked up and parked to the after dinner cocktails in the Morse Bar; what a fabulous place to celebrate my friends birthday. We both fully enjoyed the experience and the service from everyone was just excellent, the staff were very attentive without being in your face. The only thing I would suggest is if the Sole could have been filleted or to have a fish knife to peel meat from the bones. The fish was cooked beautifully though, and presentation on the plate was excellent. Complements to the chef!! My friend has already suggested we visit for a cream tea in the very near future and perhaps another birthday meal in February. I cannot wait to visit again for our cream tea. Thank you so much for making it a special occasion, really appreciated.

   We booked Tuesday dinner well in advance but needn't have. The restaurant and hotel front is being renovated, business is slow, only two tables were occupied, BUT- the mushroom soup had remarkable flavor and texture, the roast pork belly had that perfect crisp thin strip of fat and reasonably tender meat, the presentation was elegant and the service could not have been more attentive or friendly. My waitress recommended a robust Malbec - just right!

    Went there with my fiancée for our 3rd Anniversary. Staff were particularly helpful and friendly, could not fault them. Food was amazing and well worth the trip. We sat in the Morse Bar whilst waiting for our table, this was tasteful and the ambience was amazing. To top it all off, we were presented with a complimentary treat after dessert wishing us a happy anniversary.
