Restaurant at The Mallyan Spout Hotel - Goathland
Our Head Chef works tirelessly along side his small, very dedicated team to give the much varied, extremely tasteful and imaginative A la Carte menu.
We like to think that the menu shows a little of what we are about – fine dining done the Yorkshire way! – Food to die for, wine that goes down too easily offered with an unforgettable and friendly service.
Wonderful food and not over priced in a romantic classical setting.
Really enjoyed our meal at the Mallayan spout. The presentation of the food was excellent and all very tasty. The prices were reasonable and the veg was very nice. I had duck breast for main, cooked nice and pink. My partner had the seafood medley which she really enjoyed. The service was very good, a nice relaxed ambiance in the restaurant, I would definitely recommend the Mallayan spout to anyone.
Nice Restaurant. Speedy service and the food was great.
Generous portions of great food in a nice setting. The restaurant can be a little quiet so you may prefer to sit in the bar and lounge areas, where you can still eat from the same menu.
dreadful heated up leftovers from lunch. No offer to deduct from bill.
Tuesday freshly cooked ok gastro food in nice room and attentive service
Bars pretty good
My wife and I had a wonderful meal here on a Sunday evening. This is the first time we have visited the Mallyan Spout but it won’t be the last.
The staff were friendly and attentive and my fillet steak was cooked to perfection.
I can thoroughly recommend visiting here if you are in the area.
Food was lovely but wasn't hot, staff were so good, couldn't attend to you more than they did I would highly recommend anyone to eat at this establishment
nice hotel and restaurant in a lovely lo cation.food and service were both very good .
My husband and I are both Coeliacs and the chef was very accommodating.
The food was excellent!
First Class Staff that were so welcoming and friendly beautiful cosy warm area to sit and relax with a roaring fire and pre-dinner drinks whilst we were taken through the menu. The scallops were so fresh and mouth watering and the venison well seasoned and true to the meats strong authentic flavour. The wine list could do with being a little more inspiring and a broader range, but the prices are very good value. Al in all a really enjoyable meal that is excellent value for money given the quality of the food and the enthusiastic young staff made it a highly memorable experience.
First visit to the hotel and wasn't disappointed, a very worthwhile evening meal choice when staying locally. Warm welcome and excellent choice for spirits as pre-dinner drinks options.
Our visit was for our 30th anniversary dinner. Food was excellent and the service perfect. We were even given a bottle of Presecco from the hotel to help us celebrate! So thoughtful! Highly recommended
Was visiting the area. Lucky enough to find this place for dinner . Staff were lovely and helpful food wad fantastic. Definitely will return.
I booked a table in the Restaurant for 27/8/18 on 4/8/18 and this was confirmed. On 26th August I received a booking reminder Confirmation 171 regarding a table for 2 on 27th August at 18.00. This was to be a special meal for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. On arriving we were told that there was no trace of our booking but not to worry there was a table available. The menu presented to us had a VERY limited choice of main courses however we ordered and the food duly arrived, Both courses were swimming in fat/oil and one was barely eatable (Pappardelle Pasta). I was only able to eat a small amount as the fat/oil was overpowering. We decided not to risk a sweet, paid the bill and left. However we did notice that other diners were eating meals that were not shown on the menu we were given. We will certainly not be dining with you again and made our feelings known to to our hosts in Goathland as did another couple who dined in the bar and they also were far from happy with the quality of their meal. To cap it all, because of the fat/oil I was not well afterwards! A bad end to our Anniversary.
superb food served by excellent friendly staff in a quiet cosy but sophisticated restaurant , what could be better
Absolutely lovely meal at great prices. We had gin and tonics in the lounge area and given time relax and read through the menus before ordering and then being taken through to the restaurant, which was a lovely space. Food was fantastic (hot smoked duck breast with chilli jam and pineapple and ham hock terrine for starters followed by venison and the beef cheek). Great food in lovely setting, will definitely visit again
We dined to celebrate a special occasion and the staff were really helpful with this.
All of the food was really well presented and all dishes tasted good. Minor points were shell in one of the crab dishes and the meat was more medium to well done than medium rare as specified but it was still tender and tasty. The dining room is really nice and suitable for special occasions. Hopefully we’ll be back!
Attention to detail in both the delicious, quality food and the ambience/décor combined to provide an ideal place to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were really helpful - relaxed yet professional. The menu choice was good, along with the wine list. The food was nicely presented and the array of flavours did not disappoint. This was our first visit but it will not be our last!
Very attentive and friendly staff. Restaurant is a very eligant room with a good choice of menu. Well recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Mallyan spout on Sunday. the food was delcious, We both had the Whitby crab starter which was excellent, then we had chicken supreme which was excellent and my wife had the Lamb which she thoroughly enjoyed. we will most certainly visit again when we are next in the area
Delicious, original food which was well-prepared. Excellent, friendly service.
beautiful building both inside and out. warm, welcoming ambiance. polite, professional staff. set menu and specials. the food was exceptional. cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth, perfect size portions. we would highly recommend this hotel/restaurant.
just a small thing, but I would have liked to have seen crisp white table cloths. looked unfinished without.
Excellent service, staff were friendly and professional. Dishes were well presented and menu choice would suit most customers. The chefs take on fish pie was very interesting but also delicious.
We spent 1 night at the hotel and ate in the restaurant for evening dinner. It is laid out very nice with good space between tables, so good for a quiet romantic night. Good choice on the menu, with specials also, good wine choice, average prices you would expect.
The food is cooked very well and fresh, enjoyed every bit, very good service and polite staff, would go regular if i lived local. Excellent restaurant and well done to the chef and staff.
Fantastic food and excellent service in a beautiful location.
