Saturday - Sunday: 09:30 - 17:00
We had a lovely meal even though we did arrive at a change over time - 11.30am (not brunch and yet not lunch). We had to wait for 15mins or so due to this, however the waiting time did not bother us.
Would thoroughly recommend the lite bite - beef with carmalised onions and mature cheddar on toasted bread - really very nice.
This is my 2nd time visiting this restaurant and will definitely return for a 3rd when I am back in Edinburgh in December.
Fabulous location , great walking and shopping , good simple food.
The building exteriors and interiors are fabulous .
Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff and great environment. Definitely return. The food is so tasty.
Had lunch here with 3 girlfriends. Very tasty food. Lovely surroundings with big glass windows so bright inside and green country side outside. Nice touches like mint and peeled cucumber in the water for the table and good napkins. Wasn't rushed so plenty time to chat and relax. Busy so would recommend booking.
Have now been a couple of times & have found the food & atmosphere perfect. Great for catching up with friends. Areas inside and out for eating & the coffee bar is great for s quick coffee & cake if out & about or dog walking
Most amazing food. Great environment. Attentive staff. Highly recommended.
Nice place and good food- very scenic and excellent dog walking! Also fantastic tree house and shop
Always consistently good, the menu is imaginative and never disappoints. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful.
Lovely afternoon overall for a family get together. Service slower than the the last time we visited but we were not in a rush.
Love the decor of the airy bright room and the novelty table tops.
Cater for vegetarians and vegan also so great place for afternoon tea.
Lovely grounds for walk also
Fabulous! We celebrated the first anniversary of our law firm. Such a perfectly lovely place.
Great brunch and lovely staff. Appeared to be quiet but buzzing by lunchtime. A LOT of kids but it is the school holidays
We booked afternoon tea but were very disappointed the cream was off, we asked for more and this was also off. The staff apologised but no deduction on bill.
Great place to meet for relaxed casual meal. Easy & plentiful parking, woods/parks for walking, lovely children’s play area, nice shopping; but above all good food at reasonable prices with excellent service (attentive but not intrusive) in a lovely location close to Edinburgh but easily accessible from major road network.
Have eaten here on numerous occasions and never been disappointed. Great food and service within a lovely atmosphere.
Waited over an hour for food to be served from arrival time. Place didn't even seem that busy!
I brought a 94 year old friend for lunch and we both enjoyed it very much. The staff were friendly and helped my friend to walk from the car, parked up by Restoration Yard, into the restaurant.
One point: the disabled toilet could be more obviously signed. We walked from the restaurant to the lift and then took it upstairs, not realising that there was a disabled toilet just round the corner. Upstairs we met someone with a pram who had had the same experience.
A question: how far can one drive a car into the Yard if the person has mobility problems?
We love going to Dalkeith Country Park and the food at Restoration Cafe is always lovely.
A lovely experience! My friend's birthday and a family occasion.
We had a fabulous brunch - every bit of the full Scottish Breakfast was delicious! Very pleasant unobtrusive servers too.
Taking my friend for her birthday celebration we had a relaxing and lovely meal followed by a wander in the shop. A great way to spend the afternoon.
Had been previously for afternoon tea and enjoyed it so booked a table for lunch with a friend. Beautiful setting, great staff and a lovely lunch. Like the touches like water with herbs. Would definitely recommend.
Could be even better if there were more vegan/gluten-free options.
Restoration Yard is a great venue. It is a class act at many levels. The food is good , the service friendly, the parking is easy and then there is the retail therapy- what’s not to like?
Had a lovely lunch with friends here, great food, great service, the staff are very friendly.
Regular users of this restaurant; at least twice a month for breakfast. Unfortunately this wonderful gem has gone down hill since New Year. Quality of ingredients, choice on menu and service have all suffered. Too many staff who wander aimlessly and no consistency to customer experience. The restaurant could be amazing but it has to decide what it is and what demographic it is aiming at. Actually really upset that we are loosing such an asset to the area.
Took a friend here who hadn’t been before and she loved it. We’re coming back for afternoon tea soon!
Very welcoming and excellent service. Good value for money. Only downside was a disappointing goats cheese and beetroot salad, that was sadly lacking in Goats cheese.
Would recommend and will return.
Always a pleasure to dine here. It’s set in a beautiful area in the country park, very peaceful. The food is consistently good and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
The brunch menu has been cut massively with no healthy options not even fruit and yogurt. Did oblige me by making 2 poached eggs on toast but much preferred old menu with smashed avocado, roasted vine tomatoes. Lovely service though and would come back for brunch if menu expands again. Looking forward to steak night on Friday
Full menu was unfortunately not available until 12, which was not apparent when booking. We were therefore restricted to the brunch menu. Our waiter then unfortunately forgot our order, and food was very late (more than 45 minutes ) arriving. Frustratingly, by this time, other people were now being allowed to order from the full lunch menu. Staff dealt with our delay well however, and discounted our drinks. Food was of a good standard, although the lamb panini was rather odd. Great decor, lovely view, good atmosphere. Got a little loud at busiest periods. Would visit again.
Visited for brunch for the first time (having been in for lunches previously) and we lucked out that it was a beautiful sunny day for my birthday! Sat on the patio and the service as as excellent as the sunshine :) Really attentive even when the restaurant became busy. The brunch was delicious and everyone in our group of five was really happy with their meals. Will definitely be back - huge thanks for a lovely meal!
Lovely setting, friendly staff and good food. Baby changing facilities were very clean. Child friendly.
Our 2nd visit, again really poor service and various ingredients missing from the set salads. Under staffed on a busy sunny Friday. Friendly staff but they are rushing about apologising.
Four of us arrived before 1.30pm and it took until 3.00pm to have a salad and a coffee . We’re going somewhere else for lunch next time!
Food was very poor value for money. The leek and potato soup was simply water. The main course was OK but expensive for the quantity provided. My wife's whitebait was overcooked.
Service was very slow and uncertain. There seemed to be no direction or management.
The steady thump of heavy rock music was unnecessary.
It was good when it opened but seems unable to maintain consistent standards.
Very disappointed with the food. Burger was burnt and dry and fish cakes were soggy. It’s not the first poor main meal unfortunately. The more basic foods are great though and ambiance is good
Restoration Café is a good place to meet; service can be a little hit and miss. Took us a while to get attention (when we booked we were told were very busy - Easter Sunday at 1045 - only a few tables in and still took us a while to get service.) We waited a long time on coffee then was served cold - soon rectified. Brunch was 'ok' - nothing special though; no butter for toast, no jug of maple syrup for pancakes, full breakfast and eggs benedict fine. Great location - could do more to make it a great food experience too.
Lovely afternoon for lunch, going for a walk and browsing the shop. We had lunch but Afternoon tea looked tasty so will try that next time
Lovely location, handy lunch time snacks. Portions sizes too big in some dishes and service slow.
Nice food in very pleasant surroundings and very friendly attentive staff.
Took our two boys age 5and 6 they loved the restaurant and the food veiw was lovely and adults had time to enjoy it all too
Would go again
