Have been before and really enjoyed it. Last visit on a busy holiday was less successful. Lots of noisy babies, slow service and mix ups with orders. Disappointing but will go back.
We enjoyed our lunch at your restaurant. The braised beef was chewy but the other meals were tasty. We booked a table. It would have been nice to be asked if we would like to sit inside or outside.
Great restaurant with excellent food and service. Perfect place to meet up with friends or family
Had a lovely lunch. Food was delicious. Service was a little slow but restaurant was full as school holidays. Also noisier than previously experienced but again, school holidays. Happy feel to the cafe and good value. Didn't feel rushed and will certainly be back. Thank you.
Having been before and delighted with everything, was so disappointed in the standard of food on this occasion. Vegetarian choice limited and consisted of a plate full of noodles with very few veg. My quineoa dish was stodgy and soggy more like a risotto - struggled to finish it. Battered fish and chips excellent. Chose Restoration Cafe as quieter option to shop cafe - how wrong was that?? Would benefit from separating families from other diners (and I like kids!!) but so noisy we couldn't hear ourselves. Really disappointing. Staff very efficient.
Lovely setting, tasty food and good service. Unfortunately we found it very noisy.
Another lovely visit to Restoration Yard. Always been for coffee or breakfast or brunch & this was first lunch visit . Every bit as good, we both opted for the Buccleuch beef baguette with onions & salad which was delicious. Better to book if you can as depending on time of day it can be very busy.
Perfect place for a bite to eat and catch up with friends with the added bonus of beautiful grounds to wander around .
Lovely fresh food nicely presented and decent portions. Service was friendly and efficient despite a very busy restaurant. It could be noisy as it’s beside a children’s outdoor activity area so it’s very family friendly but that can mean it’s noisy for older clients. I would definitely recommend it
One of my favourite places to go near Edinburgh. The food is always good and the service excellent. A stroll round the shops is great for afterwards. What more could anyone want
My third visit here , last time two years ago when it was dreadful. Had no intention of going back but friends wanted to. Pleased to say it was much improved. Better service, food choices and not quite so noisy. Our meal was very good, vegetable chilli stir fry , and very generous portions.
Great service. Food was good. Facilities were very clean and modern. Overall lovely experience.
This is a great place ; lovely room , good food , good value.
I go regularly and introduce everyone I know!
Breakfast was lovely! Avacado, poached eggs and toast, amazing!
Staff are very attentive and pleasant.
There is no better way to start the day, breakfast at The Restoration Yard!
Lovely interior, but the cafe was very busy and noisy, making it difficult to have conversation over the table.
I picked the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs, which was nice, but the avocado had too much lime, which didn’t go well with the poached eggs. It was served in a shallow bowl, making it difficult to cut the toast. It would have been much better on a flat plate.
I would definitely return, but would try to pick a quieter time so it was a little more enjoyable.
Lovely venue, excellent food and service and we were not rushed. Higher recommend
I took two friends who had never been before but will definitely be back.
The food was hot and tasty , the atmosphere buzzy.
Well done , we will keep spreading the word.
good service ,friendly staff, felt could be more to select on lunch menu ,however the steak baguette was delicious.Party of six we all enjoyed the food
What an amazing outing!! We loved the food and the ambiance. Great with kids, we are definitely coming back.
Went for steak evening. Lovely place for dinner. Service excellent and food extremely tasty. Would recommend
Totally recommend. Food amazing. Service spot on. Dalkeith's secret gem.
I’ve been to Restoration Yard Cafe lots or times and it never disappoints!
This was the first breakfast I have been for and again excellent.
The staff are very attentive and very pleasant!
The restaurant was very busy and noise so not a place for a quiet lunch. I ordered eggs florentine, which was almost too salty to eat, and one of the two eggs was raw inside. I mentioned the level of saltiness when asked how was the food, and the server said she would mention it to the chef. No response was forthcoming. For dessert I ordered Panna Cotta which was ice cold and almost impossible to get thru the caramelised surface. So not freshly made there. A strange coating of black specs were at the bottom of the dish which resulted in leaving it uneaten.
Poor food overall: I would not return.
Lovely settings and atmosphere, had breakfast and very nice.
Food in general was good, although sandwiches were a little dry - you could tell they had been sitting exposed to the air for a while.
Good service, relaxed atomosphere.
Lovely food. Lovely setting. Clean. Good portion sizes, especially the kids meal.
Lovelly place, and the food is really good.
It is perfect for family and friends time.
Service is fine
Maybe a bit noisy with all the kids around, but honestly that is ok
The Blonde older waitress that served us didn’t make eye contact or seemed friendly at all although I was smiling, she wouldn’t have seen it!
When the bill is bought over why isn’t the card machine bought over too? You sit they whilst everyone else is getting served and your ready to go, if we’re to pay at the bar why isn’t it mentioned with the bill?
A lovely few hours enjoying afternoon tea. Little salad pots filled with gnocchi, beetroot salad along with sandwiches. Scones and petit cakes to finish. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a pleasant afternoon with friends. We left pleasantly full and would definitely return again.
Lovely light salad lunch in a sunny restaurant with good service, ideal in every way
My only complaint was the price of our lunch for the quality of the food. I would expect better quality food for the price we were paying.
Lovely bright restaurant & very relaxing even though usually quite busy, so better to book a table depending on time of day! Good menu & food delicious. Only been for breakfasts so far but lunch menu also looks good.
Service is faultless & cucumber water always offered while dining & staff friendly & attentive.
The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly and attentive.
Lovely restaurant with great food. Although music playing softly was a bit quiet as all tables of two and people talking quietly.
Good value for money Excellent quality food especially the kids menu
Been here several times now at various times of the year. Service is always excellent and the food outstanding
Eaten many times there.
Like the setting and friendly atmosphere, hence our return.
Not disappointed yet again.
Excellent visit, lovely atmosphere and good food. Would definitely return and recommend.
Staff were slightly rude and standoffish! In a child friendly environment I would have expected a child’s breakfast menu.
Lovely casual dining in a relaxed atmosphere with kids activity area and shopping very close by
We received an afternoon tea as a present from my daughter. We booked for 2pm but arrived early.
Delighted to see that the amiable staff accommodated us before our time and we enjoyed the experience.
Food was varied and enjoyable and the restaurant had character - witness the Dinky vehicles under the glass top in the tables. (Was sure I had most of them way back when I was younger).
Good day out and the park looks welcoming even though it was a cold day when we called.
