Always a pleasure at Revival Kitchen. Consistent food and quality. Always enjoy it all.
Among the best places to eat in the Bay Area. Highly recommended!
The food was delicious. We had the vegan Calzone and pink trout. The ambience was curbside Covid-19 vintage. Not much anyone can do about that. The service however was lacking.. Our server was not very attentive. There was a heater nearby that he put right next to twp other diners. We had to ask to share some of the heat. Highly recommend Revival Bar and Kitchen
Revival did a nice job setting up outdoors. That's kinda it for the good stuff.
The host was acting strange and we only got good service from one waiter. We didn't even have a single waiter helping us out - we probably flagged down 4 different employees throughout the night to get help (put in an order, ask for the check, etc.). The food was okay. Under-seasoned but decent dishes. A limited menu doesn't help in this regard.
I know I won't be going back, but maybe we just caught them on an off night and you'll have a better experience.
Super slow service!! Inattentive server. Ordered the brisket - it was about a 3 oz portion—half of which was fat. Dessert looked tempting but was not up to another 30 minute wait for a dessert. Had a snack when I got home.
so lovely-- kind servers. DELICIOUS food. Especially the ribs/ kale salad/ pizza
Will go again and again
Great place. Great food. Go!
Consistently outstanding!
Despite short wait staff, the Maitre Di filled in with enthusiasm.
We went for brunch before going to the Berkeley Rep. Great food and friendly service. The restaurant is very nice with a mediterranean flare. The prices were a surprise. Great value.
Thanks for your nice review, Peter. We love providing delicious food from our favorite local farms and making our community happy!
Service took a long time, even for drinks, even though the place was mostly empty at 7 pm. My appetizer was good, but my vegan paella was completely inedible- burned on the bottom to a one-piece solid gummy black mess, and dried out on top. It was a poorly thought through combo of whatever veggies were on hand and wouldn't have made sense anyway. The waiter asked if we all enjoyed our meals, and I shook my head sadly, but he just sort of stared and didn't follow up.
Dear Anne, Please accept my sincere apologies for your unpleasant experience on Tuesday. The paella is one of our most popular dishes--you should have enjoyed every bite. Clearly we have an issue with our kitchen staff. I am off on Tuesdays, so I unfortunately was not able to intercept the poorly executed dish. I would love to make this dish for you on your next visit, the way it should be--slightly crispy on the bottom, with an interesting tangle of sauteed vegetables on top. Chef Amy
We had reservations for the theater break intermission to Gatz on 2/22. All went well. We got our seats timely, enjoyed an excellent meal and great service. Also, please accept our sincere thanks for providing vegan fare.
Thanks, Bart--so glad you enjoyed RBK. Vegan food is becoming a bigger part of our menu!
My son and I were there at the theater intermission of Gatz. We had an hour and a half. It was crowded. Our order was taken. We received our drinks and one of the two appetizers we had ordered. We waited another hour and nothing came. At that point we had lost our appetite. The waitress and manager were apologetic and gave my son some credit for the future. It was a weird mess up. The apologies were welcomed, but still.............
Please accept our apologies, Odette. We do work hard to seat and feed everyone in a timely manner. We are training and shaping our team to be stronger. Chef Amy
Server was great, a little overworked, but as attentive as he could be and he remember our drink orders from our last visit. However, the bar was very slow. It took half an hour to fill the drink orders. Salads were inventive and delicious, however most in our party thought their mains were just 'ok.'
A perfect place to go when seeing a show at the Berkeley Rep. Worked out great. Walked right from theater to our table in about three minutes.
Service was good and the place was packed. Make a reservation for sure. For was pretty good, good enough for how convenient it is.
Excellent food, excellent service. Noisy. Restaurant was very busy with waiters literally running between tables, but service was good in spite of the crowds. Food was exceptional.
I always love revival! This visit there was a flock of theatre goers trying to eat dinner in a short timeframe. They did great! Super friendly service and they got us out on time. And as always, the food was fabulous.
terrible service. server would disappear for 35 mins at a time. food he initially recommended was not available to us. We spent 4 hours waiting to be served everything.
Our main course never got filled by the kitchen - seems there was some sort of mixup. We needed to get to a show, so couldn't stay while they worked on it. However, our server handled it very well. He was apologetic, credited back an appetizer and did the best he could to attentively resolve the problem. He is the primary reason I will overlook this mishap and return to Revival again.
We were part of a large group of people taking a dinner break from a six-hour Berkeley Rep production. We were seated and fed quickly. The waiter offered to bring all our courses at the same time, which we gratefully accepted, getting back to the theater in plenty of time. I enjoyed the fish and the salad. The staff did a very good job
Excellent food, cooked exactly to order, efficient, friendly service. Tables for two are arranged with enough space in between to allow for privacy of conversation. Of course, the noise level is high enough to make conversation difficult, but that seems to be par for the course in restaurants these days.
Service was slow since several people arrived at the same time and lots of them ordered pizza, as we did. But managment recognized the problem and poured extra wine into our glasses. The food is consistently good at Revival, and the staff is courteous and attentive. I always find this restaurant meets my expectations, and I go there a lot.
The food is good, but service very slow. We waited an hour to have any food or drink even though we had a reservation
We had 5:45 reservation to dine In between Berkeley Rep program (as did half the audience!) We were seated at 5:50. Had great server who took our order promptly. However, we ordered entrees only and those didn't arrive until 7:00!!! Play started again promptly at 7:30!! We had to eat in 15 minutes. Given all the advanced reservations, why didn't you offer a Theater Special that could be served quickly. We didn't hold it against our very apologetic server, but I've never had to eat dinner for two at $150 in 15 minutes...
Dear Kathy, Thanks for your review--please accept our apologies for Sunday. We were down a cook, and the entire crowd arrived at once, but many of the guests arrived 15-20 minutes late, adding to the crunch. We do have a theatre special on the menu exactly for this need-speed. We will work with our staff to direct guests to the "speedy menu". Thank you for understanding. Chef Amy
Love love love Revival. Great decor, spacious, excellent staff, creative delicious food!
Service wasn't the server's fault – the kitchen was way back up and it took over 40 minutes to get our order. Revival serves a lot of the pre-concert and pre-theater crowd, and its inability to organize the kitchen enough to send out orders in a timely way is bad news for diners, who, when they get their dinners, have to wolf them down and bolt. And that's a shame, because the food is very good (although the scallops on the paella that I paid an extra $12 for were overdone...).
Food was awesome! Service was horrible. It took 45 minutes for the wine to get to the table. I guess they don't chill their sav blanc. We ordered a bottle and they said they had to flash chill the wine? Never heard of that. So we ordered another bottle and they returned 20 minutes later and told us that bottle was not chilled either. So I said can you bring us a wine list of what you do have chilled! Crazy.
Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner based on listing in OoenTree, (mis)understanding the chef had prepared specialties for the day. Instead we weee met with “regular menu” fare. It took more than 10 to meet the waiter. Once we hid, he was very attentive. Kitchen was supper slow. Appetizers & entrees took over an hour to come out to the table. We weren’t in a rush, but that’s not timely. And, many around us must have been waiting as long or longer.
Excellent food for sharing and great service
Thanks Amy
Location is great for going to Berkeley Rep. Good bar and desserts. Food is meh. $11.00 green salad is small and uninspiring for price. Butternut with ginger soup bland and served lukewarm. Steak tasty but overcooked veggie, nothing special for $35.00. Overall, convenient but overpriced for so-so food.
The food is lovely. The music/noise/whatever is horrid. We found ourselves eating fast just to get out. We remembered that was why we had stopped coming here.....now we were reminded.....too bad....the food is very good and we would love to have this as a convenient restaurant for the Theatre and Cal Performances.....we probably won't be back.
Good food and nice ambiance. Staff were accommodating.
The service was very attentive and thorough with explanation. I loved the charcuterie broad; the presentation was simple but very elegant. The pork chop entree was a bit blanded, a little under seasoned. Overall, waitress was great and atmosphere was wonderful.
Thank you for your nice review, Smiles. We appreciate your support. Chef Amy
We've eaten here many times and the food is consistently, reliably good. It's a great place to have dinner before a Berkeley Rep performance, or just for a nice evening out. Tonight we had hot crunchy sweet potato croquettes, a delicious salad with pears, radicchio, and blue cleese, and perfectly cooked salmon. The atmosphere is lively and the service was good.
Thanks for your nice note, Gengembre. Those are some of my favorite dishes and I'm so glad you enjoyed! Chef Amy
Excellent food, cocktails, and service. A little pricey, but worth it!
I love Revival - great food....delicious vegetarian dishes, all food well prepared and well seasoned...nice wine and beer available. great location for dining in downtown Berkeley. The venue is broad enough, that I eat there a few times a month and always feel there is a wonderful tasty variety.
thank you for your lovely review!
we had a nice dinner, but the service was erratic... lots of people bringing out food who did n't know what the other was doing..... wines were not great. ambiance was a bit cold and stark.
Thanks for your review, Karen. Unfortunately you witnessed the first night of two new hires who were still green around the edges. We appreciate your patience, and support. Chef Amy
The food at Revival is fantastic - even a pretty standard Kale & Beet salad was just wonderfully flavored, and the cheese was melt-in-your-mouth high quality. The vegetarian croquettes were divine, 10x better than the ham and cheese ones I got at an unnamed high end restaurant in the City last week. The service was a little slow to start (it was restaurant week), but our server was just the right amount of attentive, very knowledgable, warm and authentic (and my family works in fine dining, so I'm attuned to these things!). The ambience is fun and stylish, with wallpaper that came out of vintage music machines. We had a vegetarian meal this time, and ate like queens, but last time I was there I had the burger and thoroughly enjoyed that too. The dessert, salted caramel hot fudge sundae, was divine, and even the decaf was delicious. Amy Murray has created an excellent approachable menu - it's a new favorite!
I had a 5:30 reservation on a Sunday and service and kitchen were simply overwhelmed. Everything was slow and came with a lot of apologies, when I saw a waiter at all. This whole experience felt understaffed and it showed. The food was fine, but not so fine as to justify the service experience.
Worst service ever
I'm sorry to hear that, and am looking into staff training to resolve this issue. Thank you for your feedback. Best, Chef Amy
