Good food. Seemed overwhelmed upon checking in for our reservation. Other tables got food before us and we waited an hour and a half to be served. There were only 3 tables seated. If they would’ve just communicated the supposed computer problem with tickets up front we would’ve been more understanding. They seemed to scramble to find a reasoning as to why we waited so long before being served. The “manager”, Devon, needs some more training or personal skills.

I am glad to see you enjoyed the ambience and cuisine in spite of the service failure. We were staying at the Woodstock Inn because it was our 50th anniversary so we went to Richardson's to celebrate. The experience was amazing. The atmosphere was cozy which felt like we were celebrating with family.
The waitress knew it was our anniversary so she gave us a complementary champagne toast and a scoop of maple walnut ice cream with a candle in it for desert. The night was amazing.

Our party was seated on time. The room was quite noisy and the piped in music didn’t add favorably to the atmosphere. Server was prompt w/ drink & appetizer, which was very good. Then it took forty five minutes to get our main course. There were apologies several times but no explanation. When the food finally arrived it was alright but not hot. The manager & waitstaff did take the cost of our beverages off the bill in compensation. But overall it was very disappointing

I loved the ambiance at Richardson's tavern (clean, cozy, nice fire in the fireplace) and the service was wonderful. We really enjoyed our cocktails: I had a cosmopolitan which was perfect, my husband enjoyed his winter warmer cider. We love to get clam chowder wherever we go - here the chowder was overly thick and not hot enough. The New Onion soup was amazing! The Seafood Stew was good- loaded with seafood but not outstanding- the broth was just ok. I had a special -Fresh Atlantic Hake with Low Country Hoppin John, ginger-lime Beurre Blanc which was very nice. The big disappointment was dessert (which we rarely order) we ordered a warm chocolate tart with cherry brandy compote which was stone cold and flavorless- we both had a taste and opted to leave it behind.

It’s a shame their food is so mediocre while the atmosphere abs service is wonderful.
This restaurant is inside the best hotel in the area and you expect so much.

They need to work on the menu and hire new chef. It is travesty that they serve drive inn level food in such a gorgeous hotel.

Interior decor, service was great that’s why it’s such a shame food pulled down the grade so much.

The tavern was warm and inviting on a cold winter evening, especially by the fireplace. Great ambiance and service! The fondue was perfect for sharing, the garden veggie sticks were delicious as usual, but the shepherd's pie was perhaps a bit too rich. Excellent wine and cocktails. Prices were just a little too steep to win a 5-star across the board rating.

My husband and I dined at the Tavern with our two grandsons and had a wonderful experience. All of the staff were very attentive and were certain all of our needs were met. We felt completely safe with all of the precautionary measures in place due to covid.

The door service at the restaurant was less than acceptable. Snarky attitude from start to finish. Food was less than acceptable. Had the Hunters Stew, it was frozen and reheated, meat was chewy, the supposed wild boar was dry beef cubes and duck was dry chicken breast. And the whole dish was just digusting not to mention expensive. What a horrible experience. My girfriend ordered a harvest stew which had seasonal vegetables over rice. The rice was mushy and the vegetables just melted as they were thawed from being frozen for so long. The plates were reheated and not properly. On top of it we were charged a $30 service charge for our $200 less than acceptable dinner. What a let down for the Griswold Inn. I dont recommend this place nor will I revisit this place ever again. There are plenty of bed and breakfasts that serve real food and great character all round.
