Roast Wicks Manor Pork Belly
Mashed potato and Kent Bramley apple sauce
Food was fantastic and it was a special meal for my daughters 21st and they did bring a scoop of chocolate ice cream and happy birthday message with a candle.
It is expensive but it is special.
The tables are very close together over by the corners We felt rather cramped in. The food was lovely apart from i have to say the Roast Potatoes. Very hard, not much potato inside and generally tasteless but apart from that all was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it and will most definately come again
If you fancy a Sunday roast you can’t get better than Roast. Excellent choice, generous portions and a beautiful setting overlooking Borough Market. The beef was awesome and the crumble to die for. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was exceptional. The service was polite, friendly and efficient. Everyone seemed to be working swiftly and quietly going about their business. Upon entering the gents' WC just before leaving, the lady receptionist was frantically cleaning, and apologised profusely for delaying my visitation....beyond the call of duty!
Overall, a really lovely experience.
The Beef Wellington was so tender - absolutely delicious.
When I went for breakfast I could not fault it. Food was amazing but dinner was totally different. Dry, tasteless and underwhelming.
Go for the breakfast!
It was a bit of a disaster from start to finish. Our table was 30 min late, and until I asked for the fourth time what was going on, there was no apology or explanation. There was an excellent bar man who gave us each a glass of Prosecco and said sorry after 25 min... but no one else seemed to care. From sitting down, our mains took 90 min to arrive (starters were faster) and we were at the restaurant for a total of 3h which is madness! The fire alarm went off five times and the waiter didn’t know if they had any Prosecco by the bottle (only by the glass, it turns out, as they have a policy to only serve by the glass - weird) and took 15 minutes to find this out.
I can’t give it 1 or 2 stars as the food was very good, but it felt quite overpriced and a bit like we’d walked into a posh faulty towers. Would I go again? No way.
Sunday roast beef was uncharacteristically a bit chewy.
Claret advertised was wrong year than that served but still good.
Considering that this is a reasonably expensive restaurant, we were left pretty disappointed. Pork Belly was tough/dry and not the succulent melt in your mouth stuff that you can expect even when eating at a reasonable gastro pub.
That said the sticky toffey pudding was reasonable. The wine we had was also pretty good.
Good quality food, in a great location, with very attentive staff, excellent place.
Very disappointing having been here & had many lovely meals before. Dried out charcuterie board with over toasted ciabatta - no oil to dip that in. Cold soggy chicken with over cooked lentils as a main & the promised Parmesan & truffle frites were delivered as cold fat chips with a sprinkle of Parmesan on top. The side of broccoli was almost inedible having been seriously undercooked. In short it was terrible & the carpet was absolutely filthy - crumbs everywhere. Not good enough & they trade on the name only these days!
Location great. The food was ok. Toast very cold and thin so too crispy. Disappointing. Staff were friendly but a little slow and it wasn’t busy
Really disappointed with this visit to Roast having been many times a few years ago and enjoyed it. Everything we wanted bar the fish and chips were off the menu and I was offered substitutes by the waiter which the chef then couldn't / wouldn't do. I then ordered beef wellington done medium rare and the waiter came back and said they didn't have any more bar one which was already on and was medium to well done and I could have that one!! I cannot tell you how embarrassed I was that I recommended this restaurant to my family and then had this shambles of a dinner. I will ever return and will make sure that I tell anyone thinking of going not to bother either. When the maitre'd asked was everything OK, and I said no and proceeded to tell him, he just walked away as I spoke. So very rude!
Tasty food. Large portions. Great atmosphere. Great location in Borough Market close to London Bridge station. Great service but a bit slow. However we were not in a rush so this was fine.
Expected so much more. Poor first impressions! Decor scruffy and tired. (An old display of foliage and Xmas baubles was sitting on a surface next to bar area!) Toilets not v clean, particularly the floor in the ladies cubicle which had a thick layer of dust in the corner. Carpet in the raised conservatory eating area was v scruffy. Left waiting in bar area by person who greeted us who said he would inform us when our booked table was ready. After 15 minutes we had to ask the bar staff about our table as the original person never returned!
Food ok. Nothing special and certainly not a reflection of price. Monk fish main was quite dry and overpowered by the lemon ‘jus’. Crab cakes were v bland. Steak and kidney pudding was good.
Service poor, had to try to attract waiters attention on many occasions to ask for more water and the wine we had ordered. We had almost finished our starters before the wine finally arrived!
Large groups of people were having afternoon tea at 1pm. This gave the impression of the restaurant being more of a tourist attraction or of people using ‘afternoon tea experience vouchers’ rather than the ‘high end’ ambience we had expected.
A real shame as it was a birthday treat for my husband. There are so many other lovely places to eat in London for this sort of price that we won’t be returning.
Dear Ruth Thank you for your extensive overall constructive feedback, we appreciate and take on board your comments. We have already acted on some of the points you raised with our cleaning company, we are also due to have a complete re-vamp too very soon. I am sorry the host did not follow up on to make sure you were been seated.I have spoken to the chef regarding the food element. Our afternoon tea on the day was a party of american ladies, who paid full price. Bruno Zuliani General manager
Lovely experience from start to finish.
Food and drinks were really delicious.
Looking forward to the next time I go.
I wasn't impressed with the coffee (just a milky coffee instead of a latte) or the eggs (almost hard boiled instead of runny)
Lovely food but we had to wait over an hour for a pre booked table on a Sunday afternoon.
Table booked for 3pm to celebrate my Mother's 80th birthday . On arrival we were told to wait in the bar area which was very crowded. We then stood for 50 mins (80 year old included) during which time requests for an update on the situation were basically ignored by the staff. The whole situation seemed basically chaotic and why they don't allocate a time limit for tables is just beyond me.
When we eventually sat down, food was passable and, to be fair, waiting staff were friendly, albeit with further long delays between courses. No adjustment to the bill, not even the offer of a drink to reflect the fact that we were standing for almost an hour. So clearly par for the course as far as Roast is concerned.
Overall a disappointing experience which took the gloss off an otherwise enjoyable day.
Lovely setting and great venue. Was quite warm with sunshine through the glass, but not an issue.
Excellent food and friendly service
Good traditional Sunday Roast. Need to thicken up that gravy though....
We have wanted to go to Roast for a Sunday Roast for a very long time. We waited for an occasion - my wife’s 40th birthday and we had an amazing time. The menu was perfect and we shared an amazing Chateaubriand with the perfect crispy roast potatoes and the fluffiest Yorkshire pudding. The wine list was extensive and had some good value wines to suit all budgets. The artisan bread to start was more than enough, but I also had the nettle soup which was gorgeous.
The only reason for the 4 star review is because the service was impeccable until it started to get busy. We found it difficult to get the attention of the waiting staff. We also witnessed a rather terse exchange between the reception staff which made for an uncomfortable exit.
We will definitely go back.
Total spent £277 for three courses for three people and two bottles of red wine.
High standards, good quality, wonderful atmosphere..after my 18 years of experience in service and getting twice award of excellence from TripAdvisor I can say that was a proper harmony between kitchen and service..thank you !
Badly cooked. Very slow. Very overpriced. (Details below).
Toad in the hole was burned and inedible; lamb was cooked very unevenly. I guess there was pressure in the kitchen because everything arrived very slowly (we were almost late to the theatre two and a half hours later). But we expected better because it was really very expensive.
Absolutely great service, food was quickly made and flawless.
Lovely place. Food was amazing!
