We arrived early in the evening at 6pm. Service was attentive and we were promptly seated. There weren’t many other tables as most people were there for drinks. The food was good quality and filling and the set menu represented really good value. I would come again.
Great place to get together with a group of friends...........enough of a buzz, but still quiet enough to chat. Staff were friendly and food very reasonably priced for the location - only criticism would be that some options on the menu weren't available.
BBAC is a great city venue. The food was good and there is a wide ranging selection on the menu. The staff were friendly and the makeover of the restaurant has been well done. My friend and I enjoyed our lunch/ afternoon get together and will go back.
I use this place regularly, but this visit was a shambles. I booked through Opentable but this doesn't seem to have logged and so I didn't receive the discount advertised. Service was poor and as the kitchen were short staffed there was shortage of sandwiches and those we received were not well filled. As well as a pretty dreadful experience for which I was charged a service charge, I then get a chaser from Opentable to enquire as to why I did not attend to take up my booking. Shambles!!! An unhappy Opentable member!
Good food and service. Really nice location, the room was not too big but it felt quite spacious.
Having enjoyed the slow cooked lamb shoulder a few times, melting pieces of delicious lamb on-the-bone, on the last visit the same dish was awful. A couple of small, very thin slices of tasteless meat, doubtless pre-packed with 'gravy' for schools or other cheap establishments. Not good enough!! Another Balls Bros is serving the same dire option.
Three friends, I’ll comment on my meal and service. Restaurant was pleasant, fairly empty for a Friday, Balls Brothers was mainly a chain of wine bars, these added sandwiches and morphed into a fully fledged restaurant. It should have stayed at stage two. My starters of prawn cocktail was a mediocre sauce on reasonably chunky prawns, separated from the lettuce and a wedge of lemon. It’s supposed to be a cocktail, the clues is in the name. The beer battered haddock was placed on an ocean of chips, chips were ok oven chips but far too many, the batter was not crisp enough, when I added vinegar it softened to a doughy consistency, the mushy pea and mint was fine, I left the tartare sauce. Not enough seasoning in the whole meal. The cheese course was bland and obviously just taken out of the fridge, that’s not good.. the service was good but we were one of the only diners left..
Food was decent. Place is good for a work lunch but service was extremely slow.
We loved the feel of the restaurant and the refurbishment has breathed new life into a tired building. The overall effect is a warm and welcoming. The food was great, we pre ordered and this worked well to minimize waiting time. All our orders were correct and all the food was cooked well. The waiting staff are diligent and nothing is too much trouble which is great. All food and drinks are really reasonable. It was a very enjoyable lunch and we have rebooked for another celebration early next year.
I had booked Rocket and wasn't made aware that Rocket had closed down and my booking swapped to Balls Brothers Adam Court which I didn't feel was good service. However that is my only complaint.
