Well what can I say, we love this Restaurant and we really look forward to our couple of trips a year. Today we had a very good quality meal but it was absolutely ruined by the manager taking it upon herself to utterly humiliate my Fiancée in front of our table guests and neighbouring tables. We were coming to the end of our starter and my fiancée had paused for a moment and crossed her knife and fork, the manager then came over to tell her off as it might confuse her staff she might have finished. She then completely disregarded even the most basic COVID guidelines by leaning right over her grabbing her cutlery without gloves on and moving them apart on her plate. We were all gobsmaked as she waited for an apology and then walked off! I don’t really know what to say from here, I don’t feel words really do the justice on how rude and how stupid this manager tried to make us feel.
A lovely lunch, a great view over the harbour and delicious food. The service was disappointing though, we waited a while before anyone greeted us, we ordered drinks, waited about 20 minutes before reminding the waitress to bring them. It’s hard to know if it’s due to Covid times, all the staff were wearing masks so it was difficult to engage fully with them. We really enjoyed the food, for starters we had prawns and red mullet and for main course the turbot and skate wing, all were delicious.
We have never visited Rock Salt before, and are not great lovers of fish/sea food, however, we were pleased to see there were alternatives to fish! We both had a chicken dish which was very flavoursome followed by Gypsy Tart with lemon cream. We enjoyed both dishes and if we were in Folkestone again we would go back.
Lovely meal. Service a little slow but friendly. Tables felt quite close together
Prices different than on website
This is a lovely restaurant with food to match the beautiful views over the harbour. It has an upmarket but relaxed vibe. We enjoyed a great celebration meal and couldn't fault anything with the cooking – fresh fish, punchy flavours and a good variety of non-fish dishes if you are so inclined. The fish soup was perfect and satisfying. Service staff were friendly and prompt, though it was a little difficult to flag them down at times. Hoping we can return soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was cooked to perfection. We were not rushed and all the food was well cooked and the wines were of real quality.
I was happy to leave a tip for service which I thought was good I just think its a bit cheeky adding 12.5% on to the bill in faint writing.
To be fair the waitress told us it was included and we had the chance to remove it but that would have been like kicking a puppy.
Everything was great I just think its cheeky having to ask to remove it. I bet these same people object to spam mail being the default option on their email accounts yet they do the same.
a fantastic evening, great view, wonderful original food and good value wine.
Friendly and informative service.
Extremely nice lunch with good service . The tables were well spaced and there was no time pressure . Lovely position next to the harbour and pier .
Menu very limited for my wife who does not eat meat or fish.
Fabulous meal with a great view, all our choices were outstanding
We always have a good meal and experience here and yet again you didn’t dissapoint! Will be back again soon 😁
Lovely food. Great views in the sunshine. Good service and would definitely recommend.
Amazing views, great service from friendly waiting staff and delicious food. Well worth a trip!
Really enjoyed my time at rocksalt definitely would revisit.
Amazing food and good service. Second time we’ve been and didn’t disappoint
Prime location and very good food and drinks.
They’ve done well to maintain a warm and safe environment during covid restrictions.
I would go again and probably have the same main course - roast skate.
The food is a little bit pricey but so worth it. Absolutely amazing selection; decent portion size and taste was fab. Slightly disappointing in they seemed to be short of waiting staff so wasn't as attentive as one would like but the food was so good, it didn't detract.
Stunning location and lovely food, most locally sourced.
2nd visit, and outstandingly prepared food. A very memorable occasion.
Everyone enjoyed their meals, both the food and selection of wines/beer.
If we had one minor improvement the staff were very friendly and helpful but could be a little more attentive. However there is a fine balance between attentive and in your face!
Relaxed atmosphere. Incredible food. Did not disappoint.
Stayed for the first time and it was worth every penny. Fabulous service and the food was just amazing. We all ate something different and we all thoroughly enjoyed each course. My Huss was the best!!
We stayed the night in one of the rooms and we had breakfast next morning. My husband and I said was the best black pudding and sausage ever. Can’t rave about it enough.
Will definitely come back.
Delicious and unusual. The blancmange was amazing. Loved it, best ever visit...and felt totally safe!
Excellent Seafood and imaginative menu in a Beautiful setting. Attentive staff and a great lunch experience with touches of fine cuisine. Was recommended to us by a local and can only say it was splendid.
Excellent venue with outstanding fish dishes. Service was ideal - no rush but not having to wait too long.
From the moment you walk into the restaurant you are met with an air of luxury. The staff, menu, drink choices and ambience take a lot of beating. The icing on the cake are the fabulous views and outside seating areas. Highly recommend for business or pleasure.
Fabulous food, v good service . Lovely location overlooking the harbour. Would definitely recommend.
Very good food!!
However, service was very poor, we had to request main, dessert and final bill with no-one coming to check on if we were satisfied with the food and needed anything else etc
Delicious food and friendly staff. Service was good and the view of the harbour eas amazing.
Likely Covid has affected your usual service. Did feel a little abandoned by waiters...had to pour own wine, no one asked how our meals were. Food was exquisite!!!!
If you want a relaxing, good atmosphere, great food and wonderful staff service at a lunch or dinner experience look no further than Rocksalt. We have been going for a few years , taking guests, and cannot speak highly enough of it. Food is always great,
Wanted to visit for some time as I had read a review in The Week magazine. We were not disappointed, very fresh Crab start and meaty Monkfish to follow. We had a pram with us and we were positioned well for our comfort and that of other diners. We felt relaxed and enjoyed a wonderful lunch overlooking an incoming tide in the harbour.
Wonderful views, combined with fab food and service. What more could you want.
Lovely food, excellent waitress, and good choice to eat outside for lunch.
Had a great evening celebrating my sons birthday. Great atmosphere, food and service excellent.
Good food in excellent surroundings, staff were happy and helpful all in a buzzing atmosphere.
Quality of food is outstanding, best view you could wish for while dining.
Always fantastic. The food, the setting, the staff. Will go back for more!

We had a lovely time on Sunday, Rocksalt never fails to be outstanding in all departments, food, level of service and the view.
To top it off we was lucky to have the bill paid by Mastercard and OpenTable which was most appreciated.
Thank you again RockSalt for just being you. 🥰
