3 Course Sunday Lunch, it was an excellent experience and the outlook is terrific.
Fabulous food in a lovely setting with efficient, friendly service. Everything was great
My favourite. Food and wine is Devine. The service is fantastic.
Great place, great food and great service! I would definitely recommend this restaurant
Eating at Rocksalt is always an enjoyable experience and this was no exception.
Lovely evening celebrating our daughters Birthday, everything was perfect.
A surprise, delicious lemon meringue tartlet with birthday candle was presented, which really made Emily's evening, thank you very much.
Very much looking forward to visiting again.
4th visit to Rocksalt, first time for lunch. Great service from when we arrived and throughout lunch. The food was wonderful, I had baked hake and my husband had his favourite ray wing with brown butter caper sauce, both dishes full of flavour and like a good film we didn’t want it to finish! We had the plum and apple crumble with custard for afters which was like a little taste of heaven, the pastry was so light and took us by surprise. All matched with a great bottle of Riesling recommended by our waitress Rachel. Lovely touch at the end was a lemon meringue tart with a candle for my husbands birthday.
For me wine is always a very important partner to food; so I am always highly irritated by the incredible markup on the cost of a cheap bottle: Over £33 (including service charge) for a bottle that they probably paid around £5. It does spoil an evening for me, which is why I always prefer to dine at home with friends where I can crack open and really enjoy a bottle worth £30...
Lovely food great service no complaints
Great location and ambiance with a nice bar, open terrace and excellent dining room with harbour views. The food was superb - good portion sizes and excellent flavours all presented well. Staff were polite and helpful without being in your face. Prices were reasonable for the quality and setting. Recommended for all dining requirements from a table for 2 to a large party.
it was exactly what was required .i am deaf and can find noisy places difficult but it was fine.
Everything was excellent. Thanks
My husband and I love Rocksalt. The weather wasn't the best so the sea view was not brilliant but the food was. We both had the king prawns with garlic & chilli. He had them as a main course after oysters and I had them as a starter and then had hake. Everything was lovely and fresh and tasty.
Really lovely situation next to Folkestone harbour. The service was great and the food delicious!
Our waiter was very knowledgable about the wines and ingredients and made us feel very welcome from the moment through the door....very impressed
Have been several times. Always enjoyable although this time very quiet. Food was very good and the views excellent. Would recommend it to either business of social friends.
I was rather disappointed which is unusual at the Rocksalt. We were sent upstairs for a drink whilst our table was prepared. This had never happened before. We sat upstairs for some 40 mins expecting to be told when our table was ready. In the end I asked if we would be told and the waitress said no. This should have been explained In the first place. We returned downstairs to be told our table had been seated! The waitress fumbles around for another table and seats us. I was asked 3 times if we had any allergies. This was our wedding anniversary so more disappointing! They did bring out a small lemon pie with a candle in it but said nothing like, happy anniversary or anything. I will certainly think seriously before returning . Oh and the food, distinctly average.
Booked for 1pm for 2 people. Took 30 before our drinks order was taken... service in general very slow untill it came to taking money and a tip when the waitress appeared and was overly friendly and all of a sudden interested in our day...
Left the restaurant at 3:20....
Other than that the good was incredible. The parsnip tart was delicious and a great selection of wines available.
Booked a window table which was not available on arrival, sent up to an incredibly noisy bar, not for over 35's I reckon (we were all in our 60's) HOWEVER mamnager dealt with probelm swiftly and effectivley and more than made up for the initial problem.
Very good 1st time I've used food excellent service excellent
Lovely location. Staff were very attentive & enjoyed every part of our meal. Worth the trip
Great staff, terrific food and lovely relaxing ambience. Booked a table for next visit.
Had a table by the window with the lovely views over the harbour for our anniversary lunch. Food was very good and staff most welcoming and and efficient. A lovely touch was a mini lemon meringue pie with a candle to help us celebrate.
Would definitely recommend and will be back
The fish was beautifully cooked and desserts were delicious
Excellent birthday meal for our daughter. Wide range of menu (we went for Sunday Lunch) and even a sensible children menu for the smaller appetites. Will definitely go back on our next trip to Folkstone.
only thing is that is too noisy.....food is lovely and service excellent.
Second time occurred had charged for two bottles of wine not one. Once pointed out were quick to change bill but wouldn’t expect this.
Also slower service than usual but were reasonably busy.
Lovely small dessert and candle for birthday celebration given which was very nice.
Thank you for an enjoyable meal. The birthday desserts were much appreciated!
We will visit again soon.
Excellent quality food with a nice ambiance and harbour views. Service was faultless too. It is expensive but the quality is there. Ideal for a special occasion.
After an initial hiccup in service - we were shown to our table and left abandoned for 20 minutes while later arrivals were attended to. Clearly an error but I had to call someone over. They were very apologetic and did everything to retrieve the situation including complimentary drinks. The subsequent service was exemplary.
Very calm and relaxing atmosphere great menu and very good attentive and friendly staff not just one or two but everyone serving was so pleasant. The food was great my starter seaweed crackers and creamy smooth taramasalata my husband very tasty pate then I had a grilled plaice so moist and well cooked plus truffle chips my husband a very tender well cooked rib eye steak veg and truffle chips, for my dessert I was brought a lemon meringue tart with a candle as it was my birthday which was a lovely gesture, my husband had the apple tart great. The wine recommended by the manageress was great and she was really nice as well. It is not always possible to be able to say that every part of a dining experience was great but it truly was.
Food was spot on and all the people serving was really helpful and attentive
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, staff were extremely polite and welcoming and the food was out of this world. 100% recommend.
Lovely atmosphere - food well presented. I thought mine lacked a little flavour but was tender.
Lovely setting. Varied menu with emphasis on fish understandably. Pleasant staff.
A large party at one end of the restaurant, having drunk themselves silly in your bar beforehand, made so much noise I could not hear what my guests were saying. We had an interesting conversation in the taxi home about the legal requirements of restaurants to ameliorate excessive behaviour of guests for the sake of the more reasonable guests My guests are QCs and, like them, I have a wide network in Kent. Rocksalt will be advised against for encouraging the loud, drunken, inconsiderate crowd to be avoided..
Not been here before but had heard about it. Location is great would have been good to get in via the railway line but understand you may have plans for that. Most impressed with the food and presentation. All excellent. Staff very attentive and pleasant. Our entire visit was extremely good. Thanks we will be back.
Having lunch at Rocksalt after a walk from Sandgate is becoming a favourite way to spend a day when we are on holiday in Hythe. We enjoyed our food and the wine was delicious and the service was spot on! Well done Rocksalt.
Always a superb setting, the Sunday Lunch is right on value for excellent food, careful with the crackling it’s a huge portion! 👌👌👌
Very enjoyable and looking to visit in the future. Love looking out across the harbour and found the staff good. My wife has a few intolerances and this was no problem to the restaurant.
