Served with Fries, Watercress, Barnaise
Pea Shoots, Toasted Sourdough
Rocksalt Fish Soup
As always a delicious meal with great service. Fish was cooked to perfection.
Superb meal. Starters, mains and desserts were all excellent with good provenance. Covid measures in place were effective, followed by most and as people in a vulnerable group we felt secure. Lovely views across the harbour and the clever use of mirrors means that no diner is without a view. We will certainly be back!! Can't wait!!
Very enjoyable experience good food well presented in a lovely setting.
Fantastic restaurant. Great food. Loved it.
The first time I have found real Taramasalata since 1982
Excellent service and food, if you like your seafood, this is an excellent find.
Difficult to judge a restaurant in COVID times but there is a tendency for staff to assume greater importance than guests. Menu is creative. Food good but somewhat pricey. Telephone enquiry system needs to be improved as calls are often not picked up and messages left not shared.
Service is always warm and professional and food so delicious we’re so lucky to be able to watch a trawler plod out whilst enjoying fresh Kentish fish!
Great place to celebrate that special ocasion, great views, great wines and good food
Given current circumstances, we were satisfied with Rocksalt's Covid precautions and had a lovely evening. The staff were all very welcoming and efficient and the food was utterly superb!!! Our first visit as we were staying close by, but it will not be our last.Would not hesitate to recommend. Thank you, Rocksalt!
Very good food, friendly and prompt service. Good value.
Food was up to good standard and nicely presented. Ambience and view was good and important part of the experience. Noise made it difficult to hold a conversation especially at the start
Lovely setting with excellent presentation and taste of food. Service was very slow with us having to ask for things instead of being served without prompting. However this did mean we weren't rushed. Prices comparable with similar venues.
We sat outside and the experience was lovely other than the service. There was clearly not enough staff to handle the number of tables
a very poor welcome on arrival and we noticed that several customers were kept waiting at the entrance and being ignored when trying to attract attention
Service was poor but the food made up for the shortcomings.
Really nice mid Sunday afternoon dinner out on the terrace, on one of the last days of Summer. The setting in Folkestone Harbour is lovely. Delicious food.
Everything was excellent even the weather so we were able to sit outside.
Oh. My. God. Best food best service best view! Blew us away!
This place just gets better, been coming here for a few years now and has never been anything other than outstanding.
The staff are AMAZING!
Food was excellent but a bit too pricy even for fine dining,
One thing of note is they have made no attempt to adhere to social distancing with the same amount of tables as on our previous visits and everybody is simply way too close together and you are definitely closer together than government guidelines suggest,I know businesses need to get back to making money but greed is taking over and lives are being put at risk, other pubs and restaurants in the town are abiding by the rules,
Such a shame.
Lovely food, great service and a great view from this wonderful restaurant. A really special place.
We had a fabulous meal at Rocksalt for my husbands 40th birthday. The food, views, staff and service was all amazing. We had 2 young children with us, they were the only ones in the restaurant and were made to feel very welcome.
Well what can I say, we love this Restaurant and we really look forward to our couple of trips a year. Today we had a very good quality meal but it was absolutely ruined by the manager taking it upon herself to utterly humiliate my Fiancée in front of our table guests and neighbouring tables. We were coming to the end of our starter and my fiancée had paused for a moment and crossed her knife and fork, the manager then came over to tell her off as it might confuse her staff she might have finished. She then completely disregarded even the most basic COVID guidelines by leaning right over her grabbing her cutlery without gloves on and moving them apart on her plate. We were all gobsmaked as she waited for an apology and then walked off! I don’t really know what to say from here, I don’t feel words really do the justice on how rude and how stupid this manager tried to make us feel.
The lunch was to celebrate my grandsons excellent exam results and the location was perfect! Our meal was delicious, the service fantastic and so friendly. You went over and above expectations, although I had never been there before I shall certainly look forward to a return visit. Thank you for the little 'celebration Well Done decorated plate', it was just the kindest thought and delighted my grandson! Wishing you well for the future and hope to see you again soon.
Rocksalt exceeded our already high expectations - an absolutely stunning experience with 5-star service, in particular from the lady we believe was front of house. Incredible, locally-sourced food and such great value for money. Visiting Folkestone from London I have to say this beats 99% of restaurant experiences we’ve had in the capital. Well done Rocksalt!
Lovely meal out would definitely recommend Rock Salt
Food was amazing we shared the whole turbot absolutely delicious with tender stem broccoli and chips. My partner had the Gypsy tart and I had the chocolate fondant with raspberry sorbet fabulous 😋
A lovely lunch, a great view over the harbour and delicious food. The service was disappointing though, we waited a while before anyone greeted us, we ordered drinks, waited about 20 minutes before reminding the waitress to bring them. It’s hard to know if it’s due to Covid times, all the staff were wearing masks so it was difficult to engage fully with them. We really enjoyed the food, for starters we had prawns and red mullet and for main course the turbot and skate wing, all were delicious.
We have never visited Rock Salt before, and are not great lovers of fish/sea food, however, we were pleased to see there were alternatives to fish! We both had a chicken dish which was very flavoursome followed by Gypsy Tart with lemon cream. We enjoyed both dishes and if we were in Folkestone again we would go back.
Lovely meal. Service a little slow but friendly. Tables felt quite close together
Welcoming , pleasant staff. Fabulous views of harbour as we ate. Nice linen napkins.
Fresh, delicious, well cooked food in nice proportions.
Recommend desserts as well, if you have room!
Prices different than on website
I just love Rocksalt, particularly on a sunny day. Its location is perfect and can be a real sun trap. It is so magical to sit right next to the sea. The food is also divine. Some can be quite pricey, like the steak but I'm happy to pay a premium for locally sourced fish and meat. The service was a little too relaxed when we were there but it was a sunny Thursday lunchtime in September so they may not have expected it to be full. Tables are spread out and they have wonderful smelling hand sanitiser as you go in!
This is a lovely restaurant with food to match the beautiful views over the harbour. It has an upmarket but relaxed vibe. We enjoyed a great celebration meal and couldn't fault anything with the cooking – fresh fish, punchy flavours and a good variety of non-fish dishes if you are so inclined. The fish soup was perfect and satisfying. Service staff were friendly and prompt, though it was a little difficult to flag them down at times. Hoping we can return soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was cooked to perfection. We were not rushed and all the food was well cooked and the wines were of real quality.
I was happy to leave a tip for service which I thought was good I just think its a bit cheeky adding 12.5% on to the bill in faint writing.
To be fair the waitress told us it was included and we had the chance to remove it but that would have been like kicking a puppy.
Everything was great I just think its cheeky having to ask to remove it. I bet these same people object to spam mail being the default option on their email accounts yet they do the same.
a fantastic evening, great view, wonderful original food and good value wine.
Friendly and informative service.
Extremely nice lunch with good service . The tables were well spaced and there was no time pressure . Lovely position next to the harbour and pier .
Menu very limited for my wife who does not eat meat or fish.
Fabulous meal with a great view, all our choices were outstanding
We always have a good meal and experience here and yet again you didn’t dissapoint! Will be back again soon 😁
