Pea Shoots, Toasted Sourdough
with Bramley Apple Sauce
Served with Fries, Watercress, Barnaise
Another lovely lunch thank you. See you after lockdown.
Great food , good service ,lovely location and views ,drinks a little pricey but staff managed Covid restrictions well and we felt safe and relaxed .
Have been at the Rocksalt many times, but this time the food was particularly outstanding. Superb first course of mussels, smoked bacon and cider. Lovely views in all weather, good service - can be a bit noisy, but overall a great meal
Great food in a great setting overlooking the harbour. Thoroughly recommend it
We very much enjoyed our celebration lunch, we had a lovely table near the huge windows and the view was fabulous despite the rain. Food was beautiful - the fish soup and dressed crab in particular, and the mackerel main with beetroot "ketchup" (not sweet) and horseradish cream was excellent as was also my friend's main of sea bream with crab champ. We were not immediately offered side dishes but added a couple to our order and were grateful for them. We shared a gypsy tart dessert along with some lovely espresso martinis. All in all a great lunch and we were impressed by the Covid 19 safety measures! See you soon!
Absolutely delicious, friendly service and beautiful setting
We really loved the starters and snacks on offer and the ability and will of the staff to allow starters to become mains. The prawns were perfect the fish soup taking me back to holidays in France. The crackling was the most generous portion I have ever had in a restaurant. I regret not ordering the duck breast black pudding and hash brown, ordering the plaice instead because I was at the seaside. A great restaurant it is a shame it is not more local to me, come on Mark open a restaurant in Hastings.
Great food but as the restaurant filled up to maximum capacity with all tables and seats occupied it felt unsafe to be sitting amoung so many in the current situation. Had expected social distancing guidelines to be kept to and without this we felt the need to leave which spoiled the occasion.
A fantastic lunch at Rocksalt, would highly recommend! Stunning food to match the beautiful views, and lovely staff. Can’t wait to come back!
Service was appalling. The service charge is automatically added to the bill which is probably why they’re not bothered. Starter of Burrata was very disappointing. A tiny quarter of Burrata with a slice of rock hard sour dough. Apparently the fish soup was good
We stayed in the room ‘Fergie’ We were unable to put/Push or Force a Plug into any of the sockets so we’re unable to charge our phones.
Enjoyable stay though and the food was superb.
Excellent food, good ambience and great service.
You can see the efforts that is being made despite the difficult circumstances that Coivd has brought.
The tables could be a bit further apart for proper 2m distancing.
Prices have gone up a lot this year and the very least expensive bottle of wine is effectively £20 a bottle for something very ordinary.
Whilst the food remains very good, I think they are in danger of over pricing. We would go more often if the price was more reasonable
Lovely venue over looking Folkestone Harbour, food was amazing would highly recommend and looking forward to visiting again soon!
Absolutely stunning inside and out. Good choice of food all locally sourced. Service good but not intrusive. Will definitely return.
All very good except the side order of potatoes were hard and two were very green, can’t understand how they got through the pass. Complained to the waitress but didn’t get taken off the bill, complained again when got the bill and charge immediately removed.
Interesting wine list the Gruner Veltliner from Austria was delicious.
Particularly enjoyed my Kentish Gypsy Tart good to see it on the menu.
I realise Rocksalt mostly specialises in sea food and I am not a great sea food lover, ( apart from the usual boring stuff such as cod in batter or breaded scampi. ). But they also do a good Sunday roast, so that is what my family went for ... It was a special anniversary and my daughter had asked if the restaurant could offer any kind of surprise for the occasion.. She was told " Leave it to us "...... So we did.... nothing happened, they forgot :-(
The food was good but not outstanding... and portions would have been a bit skimpy if we had not ordered a few extras ... Service was very good .. a little slow, but it was very busy .. Prices were above average for a sunday roast and I probably would not bother to return unless someone else was paying ...
This was a birthday lunch on a Sunday, with invited guests. Lovely round table for 6 with good sea view. Food overall was very good. Beef topside perfectly cooked for me, though the Yorkshire pudding was a touch chewy. The 3 starters chosen (Atlantic prawns, smoked salmon, poached pear) were delicious as was the skate wing main course. Desserts were excellent.
Sadly, service was patchy to say the least. I'd ordered a bottle of Champagne to be on the table...it was, but just standing in the middle of the table, no bucket and no glasses in sight. The two senior waiting staff were professional, but under pressure. The restaurant was very busy, but the junior staff failed to spot when a table needed something, although did respond well when hailed.
Good wine list, reasonable priced for a venue of this quality.
Overall a very enjoyable experience, just the service stopped it being excellent
Food was amazing service was brilliant went for our anniversary meal
Great atmosphere and even better food - a wonderful way to spend our what would have been wedding day!
Importantly we all had a fabulous evening.
I think that a lot comes down to value for money, of course you can go out for the evening with good friends and have a great evening wherever you are but when you sit back and think of the value for money and service you would expect for that I did think there was a lot to be desired. We all like food and well prepared to pay for it which is why we were not put off by the anticipated high cost of the evening however did we feel it was good value for money, well sadly no, was the food good, yes it was. and so to explain. We paid £350 for two courses and drinks, this is fine dining prices but sadly without the attention to detail. We hung up our own coats and retrieved our own coats when we left, no bread on the table although was available to buy no amuse-bouche, served our own wine, don't get me wrong we are more than capable of looking after ourselves and down at your local pub this is exactly what you would do but this was not my local and these are not pub prices. Ultimately there are places local to here with much better service for similar prices at which you come away feeling you had been spoilt with as good food and so sadly I have to say good food but not good value for money on the whole.
Fresh fish and seafood well cooked. Great view right on the harbour. Friendly, efficient staff.
Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, beautiful views. Another fabulous evening here. Will definitely be back.
Excellent food and service, and great view even on a grey autumn day!
Super restaurant with good service and lovely food. It could improve in a few respects. The challenge: tables we thought were a little close together. The tables were sticky. I suspect this was from the regular cleansing!!
Terrific venue, service and food was wonderful. We enjoyed the lunch and will be back.
The restaurant is in a lovely spot, a gorgeous setting for an evening meal. The food was lovely & the staff were very attentive. A great meal to celebrate our engagement!
Although food was average, staff very polite we felt slightly forgotten at some points. Quite expensive for the average taste. But overall an ok meal
Wonderful food with a good selection of drinks too. Great service would recommend.
Great end to a great day out. Sat at table near the bar, on comfy green benches. Better view of the harbour than if we'd sat at a window table. Fish mains were amazing. Seaweed crisps snack also fabulous. Less keen on the charred sourdough. Service helpful and friendly. Not our first visit, certainly won't be our last.
We were very satisfied with the service we received from the staff who worked efficiently. The restaurant was busy and this resulted in there being longish wait for our food after we had ordered. Apart from that we would definitely go there again and recommend it to others.
Delicious dishes for a treat. Beautiful views. Good service.
This is a must do! Top venue in every way. View, staff, menu, and food are in my opinion as good as anything I have experienced anywhere. Well done to all involved.
RockSalt never fails to deliver. The great views and setting are complimented with fabulous service and excellent food. Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
Great location, great food. Let down by inattentive staffing
Superb location and atmosphere, matched by quality of food and service
Outstanding meal with excellent attentive service.
As well as the wonderful view, a great team providing lovely service. We felt comfortable with how they managed COVID processes whilst still giving friendly and efficient service.
The food was superb! Wonderful menu, exceptionally delivered!
Kudos to all for providing such a great experience in such trying times!
Great location, excellent food, lovely evening all round
Gorgeous food and scenery! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars gor value is because the champers is steep and not great tasting. The service was great, but initially we were greeted by a rather irate waitress who spoke/ mumbled to me while looking the other way so I couldn't tell if she was actually talking to me or someone else. She mellowed out later and we had a very enjoyable birthday celebration.
