Roganic
The team is comprised of the original Roganic line up, amongst other past and present employees of UMBEL Restaurant Group.
Roganic runs alongside Aulis London, a development kitchen and eight seat chef’s table which opened in Soho on 14th October 2017.
“We really enjoyed being there first time around and it feels so right to be back. We had so much fun last time Roganic was in London and I’m confident that the second time around will be no different” Simon Rogan
Wow what an amazing experience. Stunning food, service and ambience. Can't wait for a return visit.
Been meaning to go since it opened but finally made it- lovely evening- has the wine flight with the meal and did not disappoint. Nor did the food. Did the 6 course and in hindsight the 10 would have been do able- you don't leave stuffed but you certainly don't leave hungry - plus a little goodie bag of breakfast treats!
A very fulfilling experience.
One thing I’d “complain” tho’ -
Since I do not eat beef, an alternative main course was offered - truffle pudding. Altho it still taste nice but as a main course it’s not quite up to scratch - the beef main course both looked and tasted (according to my companion) better than my truffle pudding.
Nothing short of perfect from start to finish. Definitely deserved there star. Thank you so much to the whole team.
A flavour sensation with every dish! Absolutely loved our meal at Roganic (we did the 6 course short tasting menu which we considered very fair value at £65). My husband had the regular menu while I had a vegetarian option, which didn’t compromise in the slightest on quality or flavour. As each dish centres around seasonal vegetables, it was perfect for adapting. Two excellent alcohol free drinks also for me and my husband did the wine flight which was very enjoyable. Superb service throughout and loved the thoughtful touch of a breakfast goody bag to go. Highly recommend
Excellent in all respects! Loved everything......!
Tasting menus are meant to challenge and this one certainly did. It was a real exploration of tastes and combinations which we enjoyed. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable with just the right amount of humour.
The only thing that didn’t really gel was the decor and the ambiance; high-end food and wine of this quality deserve a modern and sophisticated setting; this was a bit too 1970s student flat for me. But definitely recommend it for everything else.
Exceptional experience and very attentive staff
Loved it! Great food and attentive staff. Will definitely be back soon
amazing food and service! The produce used was amazing and a playful take on each dishes full of depth, tuxture and flavour.
I agree with some of the earlier reviews that suggest this was a little disappointing.
Although the food was good, there were no ‘stand out’ dishes. The courses seemed relatively simple and the creativity of L’Enclume did not seem to be on show here.
I also felt the wine flight wasn’t great value. The wines were generally quite young and they lacked the finesse you’d expect at this price tag.
The staff were lovely however unfortunately I’m not sure we’d go back in a hurry.
Superb presentation and service.
We visited Roganic for dinner on Thursday following much excitement to be able to book a table there fairly easily. Sadly, the excitement was not justified.
Starting with the décor, it feels like the place is an unfinished flat, cold and industrial. I cannot say it felt relaxed or all too welcoming. Though my surroundings aren't always all that important in my eyes, this made an impression. It may have also been noticeable as the restaurant was about half-empty even at 9pm which I found odd considering its fame.
The staff are attentive and friendly though, so I cannot fault that. They had a really lovely approach and look after their guests very well. The presentation was very well executed and detailed each course as it came to the table. I did like the start when a sealed envelope containing the menu was presented - one can choose to be surprised or peek inside.
Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment for us was the food itself. Among all nine courses, there isn't one I would be in a hurry to have again. Often the key element of each course could not truly be tasted and the combinations were often nonsensical. The starter had an unfortunate plastic aftertaste. However, following it was the tongue with pea mousse - the taste of the meat was nowhere to be found, overpowered by the (lovely but dominating) pea mousse. A lovely tomato consommé with trout was oddly accompanied by a honeyed oat bread and cultured butter (the bread was good indeed though it lacked a little salt).
I am not sure if it was just this one particular menu that may be off, but for us, it was a rather disappointing experience.
This is a special place for a special occasion and each of the courses was a sheer delight. The taste, the look, the textures, everything works perfectly.
Interesting and well executed and presented food. Nine course tasting menu not too much. Neeeds the buzz of more customers which it deserves!
If you have ever been to the Lake District and like food or fine dining, Simon Rogan is likely to be known to you but I had not eaten at one of his restaurants before. I wish I had not waited so long! This food truly is amazing and the service and everything that goes with it in a league of its own. I do not usually like the Michelin star type venues where the chef and the food is more important that the guest and you are made to feel grateful you got a table. This is not one of those venues. The staff were fantastic, casual whilst being efficient, descriptive and helpful whilst not being too in your face or over the top. I used it for a business lunch and we were able to have a proper chat without felling as though we were being disturbed but we were still both able to enjoy the food and the service.
I will be eating here again very soon as this is a new favourite!
We had the 3 course tasting menu and were extremely impressed with the creative and freshness of the food. The service was excellent but not intrusive.
Perfect flavour combinations in every course of the short lunch menu with highlights start and finish in the preserved raspberry tart and the exceptional caramelised apple. Wines very good, if rather expensive. With James leading the team and excellent offerings from the kitchen, this prettier iteration of Roganic deserves to do well.
