Good food, good service, would recommend to a friend.
Celebrating leaving cert results with family.
Good value and tasty food with good service
We had a lovely meal the other night. We will be going back again.
Super meal excellent service most enjoyable experience and good value.
Well done and thank you.
Busy night but excellent service and food. Finally found a spot in Dublin where I got value for money
Loved the food, good value and staff all lovely
We had a very good experience in Roly's, there was a slight change made from the Bistro to the Café which they very easily changed and we were very kindly contacted shortly beforehand to say the table was ready for us when suited, this considering our reservation was for quite a large number of 12 people. The service was superb, our waiting staff were so very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was very good and value for money in our opinion. We will definitely return and recommend.
Have not eaten in cafe for years. I must say we were all pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food
A great restaurant with good service. The quality of the food offering is consistently good.
Excellent wine list at reasonable prices.
We will return.
A wonderfully old fashioned (in the best way) dining experience with a welcoming greeting, professional friendly service and food of the highest quality cooked to perfection at a reasonable price in comfortable surroundings.
I don't like writing bad reviews
But when we arrived I was told
Quite strongly we had only booked for 2 and I had to show my booking on the phone that it was 3 also on the open table app menu was different I asked for fish and chips and was informed not available I do think they should have updated the morning menu
Our reservation was confirmed by email, however when we arrived no reservation was recorded.
We were shown to a table quite quickly. Too many staff serving the same table, got wine order mixed
up and generally service poor. Found the food very good and really tasty, portion sizes quite small.
It was a lovely dining experience. It was also very nice to see customers coming in for the take-away items. It is very efficiently and cleverly run. Well Done.
I will definitely return - I am looking forward to it.
Its our annual stop after the Knit and Stitch show and this year we had some extra friends join us.
they were delighted with the food choices and prices.
Lovely restaurant and bright atmosphere
Friendly staff too.
Thanks Rolys. See ye next year again!
We dined early, so few people in, hence the noise and ambience rating. It was full by the time we left.
Welcoming staff. Prompt service and very tasty food. We had Thai fish cakes followed by Fish and chips. Both delicious. Would eat here again and recommend to others.
Hi Sylvia, thank you for your feedback! Looking forward to seeing you soon, Niamh at Roly's
Food was ok, from what I had been told, I was expecting a lot more from this place. On arrival at 4.55pm, having shown the details of my reservation for 5pm, I was told by the floor manager 'We don't open until 5.30pm and the chef doesn't start cooking until then, Oh, you're in the cafe'. Not the most pleasant of greetings!!! Will not be returning.
Having had a bad experience at my previous visit, I decided to try again. Overall, the set menu was full of really good choice, the food was of excellent quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and the value was very good also. The duration of the meal from when first seated to finishing the main course was about an hour.
However, we ordered our dessert and coffees at 7.05pm. The desserts on offer consist of Tapas type mini desserts which are pre-made and on display in the entrance area of the cafe. They simply have to plated and delivered to the table. By 7.30pm we gave up and left without either dessert or the coffees. The waiter admitted being at fault, but we still got no dessert. We were the only people seated in the rear part of the restaurant during that time, so we were hard to miss. Nobody even approached us to see if we were waiting for something. We paid and left. A pity to spoil a good meal and put a slight dampener on our evening.
If you do not want the more formal experience of the upstairs Roly's cafe is an excellent alternative. V pleasant experience, good food at a reasonable price, value for money wine, excellent service.
The food was excellent and great value for money, 2 courses for €19, lots to choose from. The wine list is also reasonably priced. Good service and atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
FOOD AND AMBIANCE WAS GREAT WOULD DEFINATLEY GO BACK AND RECOMMEND TO OTHERS. SERVICE WAS GOOD ALTHOUGH NOT OVERLY FRIENDLY.
Fantastic meal and service - would highly recommend.
Excellent tasty and well-presented food as always. Service could have been better to start with but improved as the meal went on.
Pleasant, with good quality food and a nice busy atmosphere. Pricey. The service was good but a little intrusive and it had a slightly perfunctory quality to it – there wasn't a huge sense of being given personal attention. Also, a small thing perhaps, we were upstairs and asked about liqueurs, but were told there weren't any, even though there was a cabinet full of them downstairs.
It was my birthday and having been evacuated from a nearby hotel due to a small fire we were running late for dinner,
I contacted the restaurant and was so relieved when the assured me it was no problem.
When we arrived we were taken to irvtable and made a fuss off! The food was amazing, the best steak I’ve tasted in a long time, they even managed a special dessert for myself, one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been in and will always be remembered
Food was great, service excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Very pleasant post match meal, good buzz after hone win, busy but staff very good tho glad we were earlier as was very crowded when we were leaving.
Lovely relaxed environment - great steaks !! Fantastic value
The restaurant was almost empty and so very little atmosphere.
The food was excellent as always and fantastic value for money.
Despite the fact that there was only one other table of 8, service was slow.
About 9pm, an hour after we arrived, we were the only table left. The staff began brushing up and spraying cleaning products. The windows were open and we felt we were being rushed out.
In fairness I did ask for the Manager and he provided a beautiful cheesecake.
I would not recommend visiting on a Sunday night.
I have been going to Roly's, off and on, for about 25 years in its various configurations. The Cafe format is perfect as I had Grandchildren with me on Friday 16th November and the menu was well received by them.
It would be fair to say the food is always of a high standard and the service is usually very good.
I recently joined the Roly's club, which offers special offers and discounts for members of the club. It was a shame no one seemed to know a lot about this club or its benefits amongst the staff but thankfully a manager soon appeared and took a decision on what needed to happen.
I also made the booking for the Table on the 28th October when I knew I would be in the area, but even though they phoned to confirm my booking a few days before, they couldn't find it on the night. Once I showed them the confirmation on Open Table, the matter was rectified.
These are minor complaints, just kick back and enjoy the food and the ambiance, thats what its all about.
Excellent, friendly service, good menu and good food
What lets it down is the atmosphere. It shouldn't compete with the bistro based on the price but it could benefit from some charm of its own.
Really enjoyed our evening in Roly’s........I would highly recommend it ..... great dining experience!!.......Staff exceptional!
Pre-rugby dinner with the wife. Great location, matched by the super service and also amazing quality food. We are so pleased we pre-booked the table as it was really busy!. If only our team had performed as well on the rugby pitch- but you can't have everything. Thank you Roly's, we will definitely be back one day.
Cheers Paul and Angela Jones (Coventry)
I had to give a star for food, ambiance etc to leave a review. However we never got to eat the food as the restaraunt did not reserve the table that we booked.
I used to eat here regularly and I’m even enrolled in their loyalty program. I know it’s busy on a rugby weekend so I booked 7 days in advance. It was also my daughters first visit so a bit of an occasion. Roly’s RANG ME 2 days prior (13/9@18:35) to confirm the booking. I also got a text requesting confirmation 24 hours prior and another confirmation text when I replied. After all this back and forth, there was NO DOUBT that Roly’s knew we were coming, and we knew they were expecting us.
On arrival (on time) Roly’s clearly had not reserved a table but didn’t admit it (I saw the reservation sheet guys). I might have been less annoyed if they’d been honest. They left us waiting without giving a reason, There is a restaraunt upstairs separate from the Cafe restaraunt, but we were not offered a table there. Instead, after waiting 10 minutes without explanation, the waiter passed us carrying an extra table out from the storeroom, put it almost in the shop area with a tablecloth and expected us to sit in an part of the room not normally used for eating, that was effectively a walkway from the restaraunt to the exit
At this point we had been treated sufficiently badly, (including a rather rude female receptionist) that we decided to leave. I eventually (accidentally) found the owner who offered complimentary dinner. There wasn’t much point since we didn’t have a table anyway, we hadn’t been offered a suitable alternative place to sit, and we were too upset by then to eat.
I am a season ticket holder with Leinster, so would have been there at least 14 more times over the winter as the restaraunt was a favorite of mine, but I’ll be much more wary of going here now. Absolutely furious. No excuse for it, given that Roly’s rang me on my mobile to confirm, proving that this had nothing to do with Open Table.
Impeccable service from the amazing hostess to our server, Amanda.
Sitting in the quiet wine room was lovely. Our food was excellent.
Super good. Pleasant, efficient service. Well worth a visit!
When we arrived at the Café we were brought through and up the stairs into the main restaurant. When we looked at the menu it was twice the price of the café and very busy and noisy. Fortunately, I had my Open Table email which I showed to the waiter and explained that we had booked the Café and not the Restaurant. After some discussion with the Manager we were told that the Café was very busy and we would probably have to wait for a table there. We pointed out that when we arrived there were tables free so we didn't see the problem. We were eventually escorted back to the Café where there were several free tables. We felt it was a little bit 'smart' and I was very glad that I had booked through Open Table and could prove it with the email on my phone.
A very enjoyable evening with good food and a very reasonable bill.
Just be careful when booking as I originally thought I was booking the Bistro. However in fairness we were not remotely disappointed and in hindsight the Cafe was probably much more suited to us.
We were on a family vacation. The reservation did not get recorded by OpenTable but Roly’s quickly accommodated us with a very nice table. Food and ambience were terrific.
