Ting Restaurant, Shangri-La At The Shard
The furnishings see wintery mustards, golds, velvet and mosaic-inspired artwork, taking its cue from the Roman fort that once stood in the area, and presenting a menu ‘researched from Apicius’, a Roman recipe book.
Starting plates see the likes of eggplant, Parmesan and tomato, and buratta with parma ham and figs.
For the mains, dinners can pick from a short list of grill options including king prawns and ribeye steak, or opt for one of Roma’s pastas, such as artichoke ravioli, or risotto with wild mushrooms and truffle oil.
Toast the ancient empire with wines hailing from former Roman territories, or smoked Negronis from the interesting cocktail list.
Our evening got cancelled when we arrived we saw a sign on the door that said closed for maintenance however we did not receive a email or call to notify us.
Just a few yards away from the centre of the City and you find a good Italian restaurant with space where you can hear yourselves speak. Not as fashionable as the old school Italian favourites but a good place to go for lunch where you fancy a chat.
Worked well for a sensibly priced low key business lunch. Air conditioning was good, service very friendly and the food pretty good for the price.
Visibility from the front isn't great, took us a little while to realise where the place was.
Inside is stunning, warm and welcoming. We were the only table in on the night but the waitstaff were still friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was still nice.
Food was absolutely incredible, the Risotto was creamy and comforting.
It was for a birthday and the waitstaff went above and beyond decorating the cake we brought!
Would definitely go back again! I hope they're much busier usually as they deserve to be bustling!
We were looking forward to dining at rima due to the impressive menu displayed on the website! We visited on Valentine’s Day and emailed ahead to make sure the normal menu was available to which we were told it would. On the night we were very disappointed to learn this was no longer the case and even more disappointed with the limited valentines set menu available to us! We expressed this to the staff and received no comment. Would not recommend!
The restaurant was closed and not for business. Why did it accept my booking via OpenTable? Why not giving me any email notification? Disappointed and wasting my time.
2 days before our arrival at the restaurant, I got a phone call to say they were over booked with Christmas parties, we had a booking for 5 people which had been booked 2 weeks in advance , They did find another restaurant for us , but wouldn’t have chosen this if booking myself , because my friends were so disappointed not to be going to Roma I phoned & asked if they could give us compensation ie - bottle of wine or a round of drinks, the guy said he would check & call me back , no call back no bottle of wine , disappointed ,
I think Roma must be quite new as we'd not noticed it before. The food was lovely but it was awfully quiet with only us and two other tables occupied. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, albeit a little bit inexperienced but that will improve as she definitely had the right attitude. I'm sure we'll go again now we've found it.
Cant really comment on the food or the actual service as we arrived at Roma only to find that the quiet dining experience we were expecting was not going to be what we got! We came to London from North Wales for my girlfriends birthday, i booked Roma in advance to make sure we had a reservation rather than just turn up somewhere. I recieved a call earlier in the day to confirm our booking and tell us we would have the best table in the house. When we arrived we walked into a bar, not a restaraunt! The music was so loud you would stand no chance of holding a normal conversation and we were directed to a generic looking table right next to the door! Needless to say we left and went elshwhere! If this is typical of a friday night like the waiter told me then the lady on the phone should have warned me of this when she called to confirm our booking! In the end we went back to our hotel and ate there instead!
Great for quiet casual dining to catch up with an old friend - we got a selection of small plates and sides to share, which was very tasty and good value.
Amazing food, amazing staff! They need more recognition for their quality of service is the best I have experienced in London!
Unique restaurant right in the City. Very different from other restaurants, the food is absolutely unique and staff were very friendly and helpful. The ambiance was wonderful, great to have a window booth seat. Go if you want to try something different, "Roman" food is surprisingly delicious, made a nice change to the usual restaurants around the area.
