Romano's Macaroni Grill - Simi Valley
Arrived at 6 on a Saturday and was seated promptly with or reservation. Gina our server was fantastic! Both the Pasta Di Mare & Chicken Marsala were perfect and done well. The bread (2 orders) was hot and great as usual. My wife and I had the lobster bisque, it was perfect. Gina was on top of her game and a great representation of the establishment.
Understaffed. The two waiters did the best they could but couldn’t keep up.
Had to complain at the front counter when they said it would be up to 20 minutes before being seated, even though I had a reservation. Thank you Open Table, they had a table ready within five minutes!
Food was good; but portion sizes have certainly decreased. Service was great
Theres no point in making reservations here when you have to wait 30 minutes after you show up on time for your reservation to be seated. Given the fact that it was Valentine's Day I understand any restaurant would be busy but encountering a server seating a couple of his friends that were walks ins right away was very disappointing. To top it off, 80% of their servers stay texting on their phone while walking across the dining area. Their food is good, but service definitely needs some improvement.
Fortunately, the restaurant was not overwhelmed by Valentine's Day. We enjoyed our meal from their special combination menu. Our server, Ali, was very attentive and took the time to answer questions and we never felt rushed by her.
They have cold air constantly blowing on you - I don’t like that especially in the winter time.
My only complaint was that having made a reservation I would have expected a nice booth/priority over walk ins. Instead, we still had to wait for our table in the order of arrival and were given an "add on" table in a corner back to back with a very chatty young lady, despite the fact that there was an open booth right next to us, and I already had a headache to boot. However, I expressed my disappointment to the manager and he assured us the next available booth and went out of his way to make us comfortable. I would just suggest they have a better system and prioritize reservations, otherwise, what is the point?
Great food, moderate service, beautiful & comfortable atmosphere.
We have to go out for family holidays, and we understand the sacrifice of workers, having to work the holidays. So we ALWAYS tip generously on holidays. This time was the exception. Our server was so bad that it made an already stressful (with 2 elderly handicapped family members) even more work. Our server was slow, forgot one family member SEVERAL times, and when it came time to split the check made ME organize who had what and SHE STILL GOT IT WRONG! We couldn’t get a full size glass of water for more than one family member. We had to flag her down several times... and she had us ‘remind her of what the options (soup or salad) came with the specials. I appreciate when restaurants are open on holidays, but if I’d rather be at an assisted living facility having dinner than at their place of business, then it is pathetic. On top of which, food wasn’t as good as it normally is.... very disappointing.
Just wasn't very good anymore.
Food was good and the servers were very friendly. Didn’t like that we had a small table for the group size that we had... That’s why I made a reservation but guess next time I need to request a big table instead of the round table we were given. Wasn’t very spacious for us to eat and have room.
11 of us enjoyed a wonderful meat to celebrate my daughters 59th birthday. We had Jennifer as our waitress. She was excellent! Got all the orders correct served us quickly and overall we had a wonderful time!
Awesome selection and comfortable seating.
It was too busy and only one waitress on our side. We asked for bread and it was forgotten. We waited over an hour for our food. I was supposed to have unlimited soup and I asked for more when I finally did see someone and it was never brought to our table.... so we asked someone else and it was still never brought to our table. This is the second or third time this has happened at this restaurant to us. We won’t be going back.
Steak was tough. Except for the Thanksgiving dinner (which was delicious), we would have rated it a 2. Service was spotty. Lemon dessert was delicious.
The turkey dinner was good. Just didn’t like the stuffing
Great Thanksgiving dinner. We were enjoying our hot cooked meal as soon as we walked into the restaurant. Nick took excellent care of our needs.
My daughters 59th birthday!
I made reservations for 7 people. We had separate checks. The server was very friendly. All orders were done properly. Even had good service. That’s something I don’t always get at macaroni grill so it was a pleasant surprise.
Nice ambiance, great food and service!!!
We normally enjoy this restaurant however this was a disappointment. The food for myself and my husband were both disappointing, our main entrées. The Caesar salad was nice. Atmosphere here is always lovely our waitress was distracted and we waited for sometime for our food and she never checked back. We might rethink going here in the near future
Overall, our dining experience was good. The food, however, came out of the kitchen as if it was sitting for a while. My soup had already developed that "skin" on top and my main dish was just luke warm. It was a little surprising, since the restaurant was not very busy at all when we were there. I remain loyal, but I was disappointed on this visit.
Really good, friendly service and great food. Great for families. Definitely recommend!
Service was too slow, took 45 minutes to get water and bred, had to ask 3 times.
Food was too greasy which didn't sit well as soon as we got home.
We were seated immediately by the very gracious hostess, who gave my mother & me flowers for Mother’s Day. Service was a lil slow but it was busy because of Mother’s Day. Food was excellent.
Food was overly salty and the service was very slow. I won’t be going back.
Extremely Poor Service. The food was okay, but I don’t think I’ll come back.
Service was horrible. We had a menu only good for Thursday. We were there on Friday. We needed a manager to adjust our bill and finally had to go up front. We told him of the bad service. And told him we will NOT be back.
This review is not a criticism of our server Liz; she did a great job. However, the overall food experience was horrible. I have never had a more charred piece of chicken in my life. The taste was of pure charcoal. The spinach served with my charcoal was raw and the broccoli tasteless. My husband's chicken fillet tasted old and the pasta tasteless. The wine, soda, and brussel sprouts were fine as well as the salad. Bread was not anywhere near as fresh and savory as we remembered and the soup had a strong taste of corn starch.
The food was honestly so bad that we lamented our former fond memories of this establishment. I understand that they are training a new chef according to our server Liz and that the offerings are being simplified in order to give him time to adapt, but the chicken / charcoal I was served was an absolute embarrassment. I suppose we should have gone to Hamburger Hamlet to enjoy a tender juicy piece of chicken instead of what we received. I am still in shock by the severely diminished quality of the food at this establishment that we once loved so much. It was too cold in the restaurant, but that was the least of our concerns.
Taking my wife out on our weekly date night! We loved this chain back on the east coast so we were delighted to find it was here as well. There are some subtle differences between the coasts but the service and food remain top notch.
The food was good as usual. After twenty minutes we had to ask for a waiter, we had to ask for drinks and bread. He never came back to see if we wanted another drink until my husband got his attention.
After we ate, he brought our check but we had planned on having desert.
We asked for the manager and told her about our service. She said she would talk to him and asked if we still wanted desert. We told her know and left.
Curtis was a very friendly server, but the staff was overwhelmed by Valentine's Day. Overall service and food delivery was extremely slow. Based on our seating location, it was also difficult to get our server's attention. They really needed a couple more people on the floor and one more in the kitchen.
I realize Macaroni Grill is not an authentic Italian restaurant, but they are really clueless. I ordered angel hair past with clam sauce and the waitress looked at me like I was speaking Swahili. That's a pretty common Italian dish. I cancelled and just ordered the fettuchini alfredo. It wasn't bad but anything tastes good with 14 pounds of butter on it. If you're looking for somewhere cheap to throw spaghetti at your kids to eat, this is the place.
Avoid Valentine’s Day. The service was extremely slow. Food was just ok. But, was compensated for the very slow service.
We enjoyed out Valentine's Dinner. We did order off the special menu and found the choices were quite nice. Our server Kristi was very accommodating. Happy we chose a 5pm reservation, by the time we left it was very busy and the noise level rose.
We enjoy the Simi restaurant, we hope it does not vanish as so many of the restaurants in Simi have done in the past.
Poor service but they had a trainee . However waitress kept forgetting requests !
Last night was very busy and the kitchen was backed up with orders. It took 1 1/2 hours to get dinner. Unusual experience for there.
