We have always liked Romulo. I’ve taken most of my friends who are not filipino. Some are Italian chef, Thai chef and Malaysian chef. They all have their opinion at fine finding Filipino food. Very different to Earl’s Court restaurant experience and the Supperclub experience.
In the past I have plenty of excellent dining experience at this restaurant, I’ve started boasting to my friends of how good the food here. Although in the recent times, the quality of food has been a bit of a let down. For my recent visit of me and my partner, even himself have criticised how the quality of food is changed (or maybe the chef was just having a tough shift). The BRAISED GRASS FED BRITISH RIB OF BEEF (CRISPY BEEF TADYANG) was very tough to bite into and the meat was dry. On the other hand LOLA VIRGINA’S CHICKEN RELLENO was very dry, we didn’t even touch the chicken. We did mention to our waiter the matter.
Apart from all of this the MILKFISH (BANGUS) AL AJILLO was a delight. Exquisite! My partner told me that maybe I am bias as ‘Bangus’ (milkfish) is my ultimate favourite fish.
We would like to come back to Romulo and have the same experience with food like we did in the past. It is a brilliant restaurant and the food had been fine dining.
Casual, but nice food, European food mix with Thai food concept! Went there for food three times in a row! New cuisine in london!
Food is great! Reception is also good, as I celebrated my birthday there with my family including my Mom, who really enjoyed all the food the she had.
Interesting and sophisticated exotic food. Will return regularly.
Service was a bit slow initially but it got better. Interesting menu and great flavour. Highly recommend to order small plates to share variety of dishes.
Good food. Good people.
Regular customer here. I always come here with my mom and sometimes with friends specially on special occasions or just any normal day when we crave for some filipino food and when we’re too lazy to cook at home. Food is great (Nothing to complain about) we always order the pinakbet but there are some dishes that the chef needs to work on such as kare-Kare. The only downside is how some staffs or waitresses (filipino ones) are not professional when it comes to serving the customers which is us. Dare I say, they lack ‘training’, sure, the basics is to serve the customers but they lack compassion and professionalism. If you are filipino, you would compare them as to a server in a carinderia. I also noticed how they don’t do this to other people (foreigner) but they do to us (filipinos) - take note that this is just an assumption. Plus they dont smile like they’re not happy to serve us at all. Some other day, one lady even called me “Ate” which i don't find offensive but would you call your customers “Ate” in a fine dinning setting? I am not hating on the ladies I know they’re doing their job but I do hope that atleast try to become a bit more professional. We customer expect to be treated well specially when we’re eating in a such a posh restaurant. Also with the Embargo, they don’t seem to know how it works so please be more knowledgeable with your external PR. That’s all i have to say, I hope you take this note and expect to be treated well in our next visit. Xxx
Nice find on High Street Kensington. The food is good value. We really liked the seafood noodles and some of the veggie dishes, but my friends thought the duck confit bao was very dry. Nice and attentive service as well.
Fabulous place, goes on the list of favourites once I work my way through the menu.
Food was amazing. Really good service and the food came very quickly. Will definitely be going back.
There has never been a good Filipino restaurant in London in my opinion until Romulo's Cafe came along. Great food and Ambiance.
It’s comforting to know folks have a slice of home when visiting such a welcoming place.
They need to invest in good a/c because it was so hot. We were all sweating.
Enjoyable evening, good food and a mystery that there were not more people in the restaurant as it merits more business.
Absolutely perfect evening! You can never go wrong with Romulo Café - as it was a birthday occasion they made sure to make it a little bit extra special!
Lovely restaurant, delicious Philippine food & delicious drinks. Fantastic service & our waitress took the best photos! Great atmosphere will happily come back.
Great halo halo. Must try. Prices are reasonable but exclusive enough to bring a hot date to.
Everytime I introduce Romulo Cafe to a new friend, I always see on their face expression that they are surprised with the taste and always says its perfect blending of tastes. Last time I visited with a chef friend He love the food.He ordered a 5 course meal and we really enjoyed it! We probably visit soon with his friends.
Amazing overall experience and value! Feels like eating at a friends' house with great food.
Very friendly staff. Good food and good portion sizes. Particularly enjoyed garlic rice and fried bananas.
The owner came to talk to us and help us with our order. We had been before and fell in love with some dishes which we were looking forward to having again however the menu had slightly changed so then we were unsure ! The guy was very kind and offered to make something off the menu that ticked our box and also helped us choose something similar on the menu. I definitely recommend
The food was good, i think for vegetarians it was a bit limited but the desserts are incredible. you must try the UBE CHEESECAKE that was the best bit.
Went here for valentines date night, the food was lovely and the service was nice, it's a bit cramped but I'm assuming everyone was out for valentines day.
I would go again, the food was a nice modern twist on classic dishes
Eating at Romulo Cafe is always a joy. It's a slice of home, my happy place :)
It was great. Lovely staff. Explained all the dishes and very good quality at a great price. Definitely recommend! Delicious.
Nice Food , friendly and informative staff . Restaurant not that big so maybe advisable to book ahead
Overall, the experience was better compared to another Filipino restaurant that I tried here in London. However, because I tried Romulo’s in Manila, the food there is way better than the quality here. The chicken relleno is a bit too salty for me. The one that I liked best was the laing. Also, I think the price are a bit expensive compared to other equally good or better tasting cuisines around London. Ambience of the resto and staff service were good! Not sure if I’ll be back though.
Very nice first experience of Phillipeans food
Great, authentic food. Very attentive staff. Brilliant meal.
We had the 5 courses with wine and was the best choice. The food was amazing, different flavors and ingredients. I definitely recommend the ube cheesecake. The server was lovely and helpful.
Excellent food and service! We loved the special menu especially the lechon, and the tupig & puto bumbong. It reminds me so much of home!
Great place for Filipino food. Gotta have those warm pandesals.
Went here for my husband’s birthday. It was his first time and he had a lovely time. They managed to grant all my requests! :) As expected, food is awesome. Their £28 offer (with unlimited cocktails and 3 platitos) on weekdays is a great value for money. We had 6 different platitos but didn’t finish everything as the portions are quite huge. Never miss bagoong rice and sizzling chicken. :)
Always have said that this place is absolutely lovely. Food is high standard and well plated for the eye palette. Tonight we dined and the chefs special Puto Bumbong tasted very plain. Yes there was brown sugar and hard cold butter to dressed this dish but even so it didn’t take me back to my last Christmas in Philippines. Very disappointed, hopefully on our next visit this dish would have a more delightful taste.
Authentic Filipino food with a twist. Definitely worth the journey.
I brought some Italian friends to try Filipino food forthe first time. They loved everything and really enjoyed the experience. Thank you!
We were so kindly welcomed to Romulo by the lovely host and had a very attentive waitress all night. This was our first foray into Philippine food and so we ordered a lot of platitas. The food was generally really tasty and interesting although the spring rolls were not what I would consider fresh vegetable and were covered in a thick sauce. I'd definitely go back!
Price of food over-valued. Not exactly the Filipino food you would expect as it has been too tailored for an international clientele. Lobster in the Weekend Special Menu was bland. Sisig and Crispy Pata lost the real Filipino flair and flavour as they look and taste different
Great place for authentic Filipino food! The adobo was really tasty!
The best Filipino Reataurant in London. It has the warmth, taste and feel of truly Filipino.
