Eating at Romulo Cafe is always a joy. It's a slice of home, my happy place :)
It was great. Lovely staff. Explained all the dishes and very good quality at a great price. Definitely recommend! Delicious.
Nice Food , friendly and informative staff . Restaurant not that big so maybe advisable to book ahead
Overall, the experience was better compared to another Filipino restaurant that I tried here in London. However, because I tried Romulo’s in Manila, the food there is way better than the quality here. The chicken relleno is a bit too salty for me. The one that I liked best was the laing. Also, I think the price are a bit expensive compared to other equally good or better tasting cuisines around London. Ambience of the resto and staff service were good! Not sure if I’ll be back though.
Very nice first experience of Phillipeans food
Great, authentic food. Very attentive staff. Brilliant meal.
We had the 5 courses with wine and was the best choice. The food was amazing, different flavors and ingredients. I definitely recommend the ube cheesecake. The server was lovely and helpful.
Excellent food and service! We loved the special menu especially the lechon, and the tupig & puto bumbong. It reminds me so much of home!
Went here for my husband’s birthday. It was his first time and he had a lovely time. They managed to grant all my requests! :) As expected, food is awesome. Their £28 offer (with unlimited cocktails and 3 platitos) on weekdays is a great value for money. We had 6 different platitos but didn’t finish everything as the portions are quite huge. Never miss bagoong rice and sizzling chicken. :)
Always have said that this place is absolutely lovely. Food is high standard and well plated for the eye palette. Tonight we dined and the chefs special Puto Bumbong tasted very plain. Yes there was brown sugar and hard cold butter to dressed this dish but even so it didn’t take me back to my last Christmas in Philippines. Very disappointed, hopefully on our next visit this dish would have a more delightful taste.
Authentic Filipino food with a twist. Definitely worth the journey.
I brought some Italian friends to try Filipino food forthe first time. They loved everything and really enjoyed the experience. Thank you!
We were so kindly welcomed to Romulo by the lovely host and had a very attentive waitress all night. This was our first foray into Philippine food and so we ordered a lot of platitas. The food was generally really tasty and interesting although the spring rolls were not what I would consider fresh vegetable and were covered in a thick sauce. I'd definitely go back!
Price of food over-valued. Not exactly the Filipino food you would expect as it has been too tailored for an international clientele. Lobster in the Weekend Special Menu was bland. Sisig and Crispy Pata lost the real Filipino flair and flavour as they look and taste different
Great place for authentic Filipino food! The adobo was really tasty!
The best Filipino Reataurant in London. It has the warmth, taste and feel of truly Filipino.
I was really looking forward to trying out Philippine cuisine, but I'm not sure we ordered anything that represented it well enough. The waitress was not forthcoming with ideas so it was a stab in the dark. We went for an early evening meal and ordered 5 or so dishes. The fried calamari is not one I would recommend as it was chewy and not easily recognisable as anything but the sweet coating. The king prawns were ok, just average. However the sizzling chicken was delicious as were the sliders. I'm just not sure I'd go out of my way to visit again. If I had a suggestion, it would be that the servers make suggestions for customers and try to be a little more enthusiastic. There's potential here, but it's not quite in the memorable meal category, at least not for the right reasons.
It was my first time to visit Romulo’s Cafe since I heard a lot of good comments about this Filipino Restaurant! I’m really loving the crispy pata dish, pinakbet, fresh lumpia, halo-halo and sansrival! :) I would definitely recommend this place!
The food is a-ok . It’s a nice atmosphere if its your first time. The staff needs to chill a bit, some are really stiff.
The place is clean ... but very hot during summer time .
Delicious 5 course tasting menu with 5 wines for £45. Astonishing value and flavours. Very friendly service and explanation of dishes. Will be back!
Filipino food at its finest! Very friendly staff.
There was a batch reunion going on then which added to the festive mood.
Romulo gives me a feel of home.
I always go to Romulo’s every now and then so, I can say that the food wasn’t as excellent when I had it. Did they change chefs? I am disappointed especially that the food can be quite expensive. I feel that I didn’t have a good value for money. Disappointing.
Great food and service! I loved the cozy atmosphere!
Spend my birthday here without my family and it made me feel close to home! I had an enjoyable meal menus!
The best filipino restaurant I have been in London. Great service and fast. I really recommend it, specially the Halo-halo.
This place is a neighborhood gem, even in a neighborhood known for great dining. Romulo is a fantastic way to get introduced to Filipino cuisine. The staff are perceptive, helpful, fast, and happy to make your time in their restaurant a pleasure. Every dish and drink was well executed, well presented, and ultimately well loved.
We came on a Sunday having set menu with a glass of bubbly. It was a warm sunny day, perfect weather to have a glass of bubbly. It was very nice throughout the meal. However, our mood was ruined because they were lying to us that they don’t have halohalo. They were forcing us to have something else. When we were having the dessert, we overheard and saw them serving halohalo to another guests. We were very disappointed with how we being treated. Maybe we are the guests who is going to a special deal, that’s why we were not treated as the same. At the end, one of the supervisor/ manager gave us a halohalo for free. It made us a feeling of just to make us not to complain, it made us very disappointed with the service here. We do love the food here, however, we would not come back again for this kind of service.
The ambience was cosy.
We loved the pandesal, and adobo. Although the Kangkong and chopseuy were bit salty but it depends on personal preference. Some staff were friendly but one was a bit snappy. Overall it was a good experience. Filipino food with twists in gourmet style. The price was okay.
My first time and I really can not fault the place. From start to finish the customer focus was there, even when it became busy. All members of staff were helpful and assisted throughout the night. The food again can not fault it. Everything was better than i could have imagined. I will definitely be going back at some point.
A great experience. Fantastic food, helpful staff and a unique place. Loved it.
Filipino food at its best... Dining in this place always hits the soul!
Service was good. Staff were attentive. The pan de sal (bread) was delicious,(ordered a dozen more to take home)but when we asked for pancit palabok and vegetable canton , it was not available.
The cooking smell has gone up to the restaurant floor and staff had to open the fire exit door to get rid of the smell. When you leave the restaurant, your clothes , hair smelled of food.
The restaurant should get an air extractor .
Otherwise it was good.
Excellent food in such a lovely little setting, the recommendations from the staff and overall atmosphere was great
Great food and warm service! Make sure to try the calamansi juice, chicken relleno and laing.
Great and fast service. Food was well prepared. 2 sharing platters are more than enough for 3 people. Loved the choco loko dessert
The atmosphere and the food were both good -- not outstanding, but enjoyable -- buy the service was subpar. I waited almost 25 minutes for a salad (though I assume the error was that my server, who only infrequently came to my table, forgot to actually submit the order for my first course) and water was refilled only upon flagging someone down. I would not likely come here again.
Shame to give a less than average review as this place has a lot of potential to do well. We were impressed with the amount of Filipino diners so we're expecting high standards but unfortunately we were disappointed. Our order didn't get through to the kitchen supposedly due to a technical error so we waited an hour for main course. Only offered a complimentary drink (not great when I am pregnant and my parents are non alcoholic drinkers) When it did come, it was just average. Have had better food at my local take out, for much cheaper. Ambience is nice though and eventually 20% taken off bill after causing a fusss but won't be coming back.
Had lunch on a Sunday. Meal and service were very good; the only place I’ve been that reminded me of my Dad’s cooking. A minor quibble—the table we were at was was a bit cramped against other tables. Will pick another table next time, as there will be a next time...
Definitely loved the flying fish and short ribs. Staff very friendly but service could be more attentive. This is my second trip here and probably the best Filipino food I have had. Will definitely be back.
Food was so nice and the ambience is good. The only problem was the new waitress with short hair they have, she was a little rude.
