Food was excellent, service was impeccable (waiters were knowledgeable, friendly and kind) all in a cool old heritage house.
Different food good quality and tasty. Service is outstanding. A little expensive
The service from the two waiters/waitress were exceptional!! Their service would be the reason I would go back!! Food was delish. Overall a great experience. First time eating there aswell.
Excellent Asian inspired dishes. Feed me had plenty of food. Nice wine list.
The entire experience was great, the service and food was amazing I had a great time will definitely go back.
Well presented dishes. Wonderful flavours. Service excellent.
Wine per glass was not cheap and not very generous.
Amazing food. Absolutely loved the whole experience!
Anniversary dinner. Great service
Favorite Restaurant in Wollongong, lovely food. Highly recommend.
We were really quite disappointed with our dining experience at Rookie Eatery (which was for our second wedding anniversary). The food was generally okay (although I didn't really like my eggplant main, the type of eggplant used had huge seeds that were unpleasant and the side salad was full of thick stalks of dill which I had to pick out/chop off which was annoying).
It was really disappointing that as a vegetarian with a meat-eating husband (who is not a fan of vegetarian food) we could not get one vegetarian tasting menu and one normal tasting menu for our table. We are from Canberra and all the fine dining restaurants (including Rubicon, Sage and Courgette and a lot of other nice restaurants) cater to this. So we ordered an entrée and main each, a side of bread and a side of potatoes and the bill for the food was $140, whereas it would have only been $15 more and we could have had the full proper dining experience which is what these kind of restaurants are best for, so really didn't feel like we got value for money.
Unless your whole party has the same dietary needs, I really wouldn't bother with this restaurant as you will be disappointed.
We drove up from Canberra to Wollongong to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday,
I chose Rookie Eatery because I believe it's the best restuarant in Wollongong.
We had a lovely evening, the food is absolutely delicious, staff are very pleasant and welcoming.
I highly recommend Rookie Eatery
Unique, sophisticated, delicious and stunningly tasteful meals. Service exceptional.
Amazing food and cocktails! Beautiful service and so friendly/helpful.
We really enjoyed the evening - a set degustation menu for Valentines Day. We were in and out quickly and efficiently. The food and service was perfect for the occasion. I would definitely recommend and return.
The Valentine’s Day menu felt very rushed. Like we were being rushed to eat and leave
It has been at least 12 months since we last visited Rookies, but it was a special occassion so we gave it another go. We certainly were not dissapointed. The food and service were excellent. The only downside was the high noise level if you happen to be there at the same time as happy womens group.
Puting that aside it was a great night.
Our waitress (Julia) was very attentive with everything & even reassured us that the establishment and staff are following the guidelines for COVID-19
Compliments to the chefs, food was amazing.
Great food good service and a really pleasant space to eat ( especially over lunch )
Really great food of high quality and flavour. On this visit service was really slow compared to previous visit we had to ask for menus, drinks etc. Food is excellent but one dish the prawns were very $$ for just two prawns, the balance compared to other dishes was noticeable. Highly recommend regardless and will visit again.
Great food but left a little disappointed.
Left feeling rushed with the set menu which wasn’t what we needed for a special night.
Food and service were fabulous. If looking for different type of menu this is the restaurant to visit. Would highly recommend the $95 banquet.
Quality of the food was outstanding. Flavours of all dishes enhance by master stock sauces. The duck was out of this world not far behind the chicken with noodles. Pick of the wine list Two Paddocks Pinot Noir from Central Otago and the Kaesler Stonehorse Shiraz from Barossa Valley. Not sure why they have a Johnny Q Shiraz on the list bring a retail wine, doesn't help elevate the experience.
The Banquet was something!
Make sure you're hungry, ample food for 4, was great! We had our son with us so we requested our food come out thick and fast it was exceptional.
Rookie's met and exceeded every expectation. Lovely atmosphere and ambience, background noise was absolutely minimal so we could talk with our friends so comfortably. The service was efficient and professional and the food was outstanding. It also has a limited menu, which I LOVE. I do not find it pleasurable having to troll through pages and pages of options. Every course was delicious!
Amazing service and the food was lovely. I would recommend.
Great value feed me menu and delicious food. Matched with a lovely Tassie Pinot! Wollongong’s best!
A house converted into a restaurant which gave a nice ambiance with an open feel. The staff were attentive and efficient with out being intrusive. The food was well presented, interesting and delicious. A lovely evening meal.
Amazing experience. My third visit and first for the other guests and it 100% met expectations! Exceptional food, service and overall experience!
A restaurant situated in an old house which gave it a great atmosphere. The staff was efficient and friendly without wanting to be my best friend. The food was interesting and delicious.
Eating at rookie is always a treat! Great service and delicious food.
Great food and service. A great night out all in all.
We enjoyed the banquet and it was served fast and was really delicious. Our favourite dish was surprisingly the prawn toast which wouldn't have applealed off a menu but so glad it was in the banquet as it was wonderful and we would choose it again along with the flavourful dumpling and the raw kingfish also was outstanding. Highly recommend
The food was outstanding but the waitress was extremely rude. This ruined our special occasion unfortunately
No Covid distancing and Very disappointing for our wedding anniversary. Over priced for quality of meals offered and confusing flavours that didn’t work well together.
Wife expressly asked for no chilli on dishes but was still subjected to spicy food which destroyed the rear of the night. For $95 per person the banquet was unimpressive and definitely no wow factor. Overcooked prawns and barely cooked duck. Beef was grainy.
I would not recommend.
The degustation menu was absolutely fantastic. Serving sizes amazing, and delicious food. They even brought us an extra dessert on the house. Fab experience.
Outstanding food and staff. Haven’t had a bad experience yet.
We always enjoy going to Rookie. Inspiring food and good service.
Really good. Food excellent and service on point. Price reasonable certainly value. Would not hesitate to return or recommend. In fact will gift to son for christmas.
Nice modern food served in professional manner- not too fussy-not intrusive but attentive.. nice night out- thanks
