The waiter was so lovely and truly looked after us! Will definitely go again!
Great venue, nice ambience and really friendly service. The cocktails were amazing, however sadly the food was a let down. Didn't really have much flavour and the meat quality was poor. We won't be back for the food, but would go for some drinks again. The live music was nice and also at a good volume level.
We came to Room43 after reading lots of positive reviews, and found the food descriptions particularly appealing.
Our first impression was positive, as it felt quite cosy inside, and one particular waiter was very energetic. This waiter made us some cocktails which were delicious.
That said, things went downhill from there. It took quite a while before the other waiter decided to take our food order. We ordered eight dishes between the two of us, as these are small plates. Eight was slightly too many - I'd suggest 3 dishes per person should be enough. Our main issue was the flavours of the dishes, which were severely lacking. The salmon and the chicken had seemingly no herbs or spices on them as they tasted like plain baked salmon and chicken. The okra and lamb stews, and the smoked aubergine starter all tasted like tinned tomatoes and nothing else. The calamari was decently crispy but, again, lacked flavour and the pieces of actual seafood were quite small in comparison to the amount of batter. The lentil and mango salad had too many lentils and too little else - once the mango was gone, we were eating plain lentils with no dressing or flavour. Finally, we are pretty sure the vine leaves are in fact the Asda vine leaves, which taste fine, but the mark-up was quite substantial.
Overall, we were expecting a flavour explosion based on the menu descriptions, but we in fact just had a disappointingly bland meal.
My boyfriend also thought the music was a touch too loud for a dinnertime slot - maybe a post-dinner performance, from say 9pm, would be more appropriate, or a pre-dinner cocktail performance from 5-7pm. In any case, don't have loud music on when people are trying to converse over dinner. We also found it a little odd to have a jazz band there as the ambiance and decor in the restaurant do not feel suited to a jazz band - it's not a very opulent venue.
The calamari was great, but the rest of the food was bland and very underwhelming. The saffron chicken tasted nothing of saffron, the breadboard had stale end pieces of break which had been "refreshed" in the oven so were rock hard.
We were the first table to arrive on a Monday night (it wasn't busy), but despite that, the food took over 45 minutes to arrive.
Love this place! Good food and good music together = 🥳
This restaurant was great. Fun, relaxed ambiance, friendly service and outstanding food. I would definitely recommend this place.
Fanatic place with chilled vibe and friendly service. Thoroughly enjoyed and almost didn't want to review as want to be able to get a table here in future...
Not very interesting food, very average tastes. Service was great and we enjoyed chatting with the server. We found the lamb chops and falafel over cooked. The tabouleh with no significant flavour other than lemon. Just was not a foodie experience. Perhaps the chef was off duty with it being a slow Sunday evening???
Great live music and good food with fast attentive service
Fabulous unpretentious food, lovely table outside, attentive friendly staff. Jazz playing inside. Good value for money.
Great little place - fabulous live Jazz, great bites and fun cocktails - A great night out.
The food was delicious! The dishes are small, but they are great for sharing and getting to try a lot of items on the menu.
The jazz was great as well and added to the vibe of the place
Had a great time – staff were really friendly and gave us a new drink free of charge after we accidentally knocked ours over. Great vibes! It’s pretty loud with the music going so be sure to head there when you’re in for a good time!!
Good ambience, food was good, but a little overpriced for the portions.
Went to room 43 for a date and could not possibly like it more. The atmosphere, service, FOOD <3 and brilliant stand up comedy resulted in an amazing night full of laughs and great vibe. Special thanks to a service for their friendly and super nice approach :)
Great place with delicious food, signature cocktails and live jazz music. Friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely come back.
we have been to room 43 twice, once for valentine‘s dinner and once for a birthday dinner. Both times delicious! great music, lovely staff.
Very friendly place and cosy artistic atmosphere, excellent for jazz lovers. Delicious creative cocktails at affordable prices. Food is ok, but wouldn't be the reason to visit the bar.
Went on a Comedy night, so there was entertainment too, but wanted to sample their food first and foremost.
The menu is mainly “small dishes” tapas style, which my 2 friends and myself enjoyed sharing.
Good portions and nice flavours.
Will come back again.
We were led to believe from the website that there would be a band but there was no entertainment. Therefore, greatly disappointed in that. The food was great, though.
My husband and I had a really great evening here. We were there on a Friday night and enjoyed both the food and the live jazz music! Will definitely return!
What a gem of a place- such a pleasant surprise. Improvised jazz, great food and service. A really special night out. Highly recommend.
Great place for a drink on a Friday night when the jazz band is playing. Staff are lovely!
I was excited to head here after reading a number of rave reviews but overall was underwhelmed by the food. The stuffed olives were sickly sweet to the point of only being able to manage a handful and the lamb casserole contained hardly any lamb! The ambience and decor of the venue was it's saving grace as we enjoyed the listening to the live jazz band.
I would come here again but only for drinks.
Excellent food, excellent ambience. Middle Eastern Cuisine + Jazz Bar in one? Only in London! Fantastic.
Saturday live music night - and what a surprise!
Expected good food - check.
And great hosts - check.
Didn’t expect the world class jazz jam session.
Stayed 3 hours and enjoyed the steady stream of improv musicians who pitched up, played and created a truly memorable evening.
Great concept - long may it continue.
