Rosa Mexicano - Riverside Square
Rosa Mexicano used to be our go-to spot for the last 4 years. Unfortunately, recent changes to the food/menu have made the restaurant take several steps back: Tacos from the kids menu are too spicy for kids, tacos from the regular menu are too small and too spicy for adults, the empanadas are soggy, drinks take 20 mins to arrive, food for adults comes before food for kids. It used to have great food but now I don't think we'll be going back.
Loved everything about it. The food was delicious but the service was very slow. Maybe they need more servers. Other than that. Loved it and will go back for date night
First time we were unsatisfied with our overall experience. Both my son's and daughter's steaks had to be sent back twice because they were not cooked as requested. Yes, you did take them off the bill but being my wife's birthday made it an unpleasant dinner. I must add the manager and waiter were very apologetic for the inconvenience and showed professionalism.
Food was very tasty and good. Portion sides were filling. Nice Mexican restaurant. Staff was very friendly and explained that it was a new menu. Planning on going back again.
I wish I remembered my waitress name. She was super nice and tentative if I’m not mistaken her name is Angie. She was on top of everything. Super sweet. Definitely recommend
Food was average. Service was not great. Place was empty. Price was not worth it.
We loved the new menu. We had the vegetarian quesadilla, tuna tacos and mexican lasagna. All were AMAZING. And don't forget the pomegranate margarita!
Good food , drinks and good service.
New menu small portions expensive disappointing from previous visits
Worst dining experience ever. It took an hour and a half for us to get our dinner, which was average at best. Poor ability to accommodate custom requests. Waiter kept screwed up everyone's orders. Manager offered little empathy...wouldn't even discount our bill.
Very busy no guy. But the managers and servers were very helpful and attentive. Bar and drinks were backed up and slow though
They took anything good off the menu and the tortillas were awful. Why does a Mexican restaurant take quesadillas off their menu? Margo’s were good. Go for drinks and chips and stop there. Also the check was stupid expensive.
I have been going to Rosa Mexicano in Union Square and Hackensack for years. Today’s experience was at best mediocre. There was a massive lack of attention to details:
Delayed service; hostess not addressing my concern by telling me that I have to wait; out of empanadas; missing a special anniversary menu appetizer that arrived after the entree; Anniversary entree was cold and the pepper undercooked; overcharged and doubled charged for items on the check;total in paper check and new e-check/ cc scanner didn’t match delaying payment. Too many disappointments in one evening.
And the leftovers were the wrong ones!!! Ugh. A total disappointment.
Although there were few diners in the restaurant, our waitperson was non-attentive and perfunctory
food is the same as in NYC -- the only other place we have been -- but parking is a cinch, especially on a Sunday.
Food was good but service was lacking not attentive.
Table was scratched up and sat us in the back by the kitchen then a table of 2 adults and 3 children that were running around the tables.
The prices are high for the level of service.
The restaurant needs to be redone. Carpet was wet and slippery
Great food & great service! Plus we never felt rushed. We will definitely be back!
The food was so good. They take the Mexican food to a high level. The service is excellent.we love the place
Will never be back. Food was terrible and over priced. We returned the "chefs special".Service terrible. Music was so loud.
Need more authentic tacos in the menu. Change the entire menu. The margarita and guacamole are the best.
The quac was outstanding but even though it looks like a lot...they only use one avocado per bowl....3 of us ordered fajitas and I'm used to them coming out on a steaming plate...this was not the case....I sent back to be reheated. Overall though staff was very kind and the place ran very smooth. Drinks were great and hostess was lovely
The service was absolutely dreadful. Our server did not return to take our dinner orders until after we finished our appetizers. The server did not check on us and we needed to request drinks from the bartender ourselves. The ran out of clean steak knives and we needed to wait for steak knives to finished being cleaned while our dinner had already been served.
It’s a good Mexican restaurant but very over priced.
They were understaffed and we had to wait much longer than we've had to before. Seems to have high turnover at the manager position.
The food was just ok. I was expecting better given the price of entrees. Service was fair-our waiter did not come back to check on us for long periods of time so we resorted to asking other servers for assistance. Nothing memorable about the experience. Probably will not visit again.
Normally a great time despite another table already under an umbrella. After dining on way to car, walked past a new table under one of the umbrellas. I didn’t notice if any service people went on a Sunday...
Food was great. Value was ok. Nice place overall.
Negatives- You can only order a huge side of Guac for $16 which is absurd. Food came out only Luke warm not hot.
Excellent... fun and authentic food and atmosphere.
Food was amazing. The guacamole is to die for! Everything is fresh and tasty!
We were disappointed the guac was not prepared at our table as stated in the menu. Was one of the reasons we chose this restaurant.
Food was amazing
Excellent, attentive service!
The flautas were incredible and the new summer dessert was incredible. It was a churro ice cream sandwich! Sheyla was a great server!!!
Food and service were good waiters were helpful and friendly and it was not crowded plus parking is easy.
Always pleased with food and service. Consistency is what brings me back.
I love, love, love this place. Always excellent. I live quite far but make the trek once a year and always worth it! Great food.
Absolutely terrible. There was very long periods of waiting for food even though the restaurant was fairly empty. The service was nice but not attentive. The nachos were pure spice and the bottom tortilla was extremely soggy. When we asked for water, if was warm! The shrimp tacos were basically fried nothing and had zero flavor. My friend ordered enchiladas and neither of us could even finish out food. Not impressed and would not recommend especially for the price.
This is just another overpriced chain restaurant. I could get the same food and service at Chili’s or On the Border, but I would just be paying a lot more at Rosa Mexicano
Overall okay. Didn’t realize the restaurant closed at 11pm but I don’t think a reservation should have been available for 1030pm.
