Rosie's Authentic Mediterranean Ratings and Reviews
Had a fabulous time as usual, whatever the occasion. Took a friend who is gluten free and they was very accomadating but would suggest if you need gluten free option to advise at booking. Very reasonably priced. Good gin menu! Only criticism was no Australian or South African Chardonnay offered!! But pleny others to choose from!! Thankyou Nick & staff for another great night. Look forward to seeing you again soon!!
We'd been meaning to give this restaurant a try for a while and decided on the spur of the moment to give it a go last Saturday. We were very pleasantly surprised by the improvements that the owners have made since taking over the restaurant - it certain.ly lives up to its name with the Mediterranean themed décor and menu. We had a lovely meal of sea bass and lamb kleftiko - both beautifully cooked and nicely presented. The only thing that we were not so keen on was the loud jazzy-style music that was playing when we first arrived - however, this was later replaced by classic songs that were much easier on the ears!
As always both the food and service was excellent. Had the chicken skewars for starter which was really tasty. Had the lasagne for a change which too was very nice. My husband had a pizza which he said was one of the best that he has ever tasted! Had cocktails later which were very nice
This restaurant has a great owner who has invested considerably in the premises recently. I dined here for the first time following the enlargement of the premises recently. I felt the front of house staff seemed to be struggling as the volume of customers are now far greater than previously. The result of this mean't we had our first course before our drinks had arrived. The staff kept apologising about the wait but it took a good 25 mins before we got our drinks. Following that everything was smooth, the food was as good as ever and there was a good feel to the restaurant.
I really hope this restaurant succeeds, my two recommendations are. Bring someone in who knows what they are doing to run the front of the restaurant, the owner is in the kitchen. Secondly I would suggest the menu is a little tired and could do with refreshing, particularly the steaks which could be improved.
I went of a midweek evening to meet up with a couple of friends for a catch-up, we weren't looking for anything special but we like good food. This was a quaint place where there was nothing to complain about with the food, but neither was it anything exceptional it was just good food cooked well. The service was ok until who I think was the owner came along who couldn't do enough for us. He made sure we were happy with everything . It would be providing amazing service if all staff stepped up to his level. Prices were reasonable.
I would go again but not necessarily go out of my way to do so.
Great ambience, fantastic front of house staff. Delicious garlic bread starter, pudding to die for but slightly let down by mains. We felt they were too bland and samey - not at all Mediterranean. However we will certainly be going again and try something different. The bar area looked great too and although it is quite small at the moment, they have plans to extend at the side to provide a wine bar. We really want this place tow a success as there is a shortage of local places like this.
I have been meaning to try this restaurant since it opened, went on Friday with a friend for a birthday tea and I was not disappointed. Staff were very attentive from our arrival, checking if everything was ok/if we needed anything, until we left. Nice selection of food on the menu - good choice but not so much it’s overwhelming. Decent wine list and fair prices - I had a nice glass of Merlot for £4.50. Starters were large portions & my calamari was really nice. The main course was delicious - I had the seafood risotto & my friend had chicken/chorizo paella, both were good sized portions too. Very impressed & will definitely go again.
We chose a bottle of wine, ( amarone), but had Barolo opened at the table.
Only on realising it wasn’t what we ordered , I asked for our original choice. We were then told it wasn’t available, so we chose a different one ( Rioja) Also not available . Our 3rd choice ( Ribera) also wasn’t available, so we gave up and drank water.
The food menu looked very enticing, and the restaurant is decorated freshly & is very appealing. However, we were seated in a very bright area, and wouldn’t preferred more muted lighting.
I think the restaurant has a lot of potential, and if they can have the wine list sorted out, I would go again .
The food was really good but the very long wait spoilt the evening. Also, the waitresses are very inexperienced, they didn't offer black pepper or parmesan with pasta meal. We asked for them but the parmesan came in a little pot without a spoon and the black pepper came from another table, just a small sprinkler pot.
We were sat in the new extended part of the restaurant which I felt lacked any ambience. It was very clinical, white walls and bright lights. On the night there was only 2 staff waiting on and this wasn’t enough, it took 20 minutes for someone to clear our starter plates. Service was a bit slow all night but that wasn’t the fault of the staff there just wasn’t enough. Food was average, not enough meat on the starter kebabs and the paella was burnt. Don’t think we will return.
