Rossopomodoro - Covent Garden
We sat in a near empty restaurant waiting nearly an hour for 2 pastas and a salad ! The waitress who was busy talking to another table kept saying it was coming . Eventually we got the food it was cold ! Then the waiter cane over and told us it was supposed to be served like that . He took it away when it came back it was only warm . He took one pasta off the bill but my grandson left it anyway ! The bill was still £50 definitely not worth irc. Won’t go again .
Ottima pizza napoletana. Tutto lo staff è stato cordiale e professionale. Lo consiglio vivamente.
We received two pizzas burnt and asked to have two new ones because we could not eat the burnt ones.
The manager was very kind and in ten minutes we had two new pizzas (this time they were perfect),
Brilliant food in a great atmosphere. Make sure you book ahead!
Family pre theatre supper. The pizza was delicious and the location very convenient.
Did not like the atmosphere in the restaurant. Ordered a drink and two pizzas. Did not receive the drink, asked a waiter where it was and he said it was on its way, I had already gotten half way through my pizza, with one slice left to go the waiter looked at my table, saw there was no drink and went to ask the bar for it, I called the waiter over and said there is no point of me having the drink now, it was simply too late, my drink should have come before the pizzas arrived. They did not seem too bothered that they had lost customers as we will not be returning to this branch.
We’ve eaten here a number of times and always enjoyed our meal.
A side note for gluten free diners: My partner is Coeliac, and has never had an issue with eating here. This time, we noticed that a new disclaimer had been added to the menu Basically stating that coeliac’s should avoid the pizza as cooked in the same oven etc.
We spoke to the server about this who assured us that nothing will have changed since last time he ate here, so we took the risk.
Unfortunately my partner has most definitely been ‘glutened’ - I realise this is ‘our fault’ for taking the risk, but we feel that the server should have advised differently. I really don’t understand why this is not mentioned on the website?! We deliberately booked this restaurant as it used to be great for gf.
However, the reason for the poor review is not this. We honestly think that the standards have massively gone down from a year ago. The cocktails for example, were extremely poor. You can tell this place tried to be ‘authentic’ - with one of our servers being quite rude when one of our party requested some chilli be added to her main dish, and how this wasn’t ‘authentic’ - however the sorrow spritz was very poor. Served in a short glass with an abundance of ice, and very flat. Tasted absolutely nothing like the ones we’ve had all over Italy (don’t really understand how difficult this is to get wrong?? It’s just aperol, Prosecco and soda water).
The food was just ok - we had a selection of pizzas and a gnocchi dish with aubergine (which apparently was very good) - definitely not worth the prices. Sadly, we would have rather we had eaten in pizza express where the food is at least consistent and better value for money.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was actually quite pleasant - good vibe, not too loud.
However, as food is always the most important thing when eating out, sadly won’t be returning.
Great Italian in the heart of the West End which serves up excellent pizzas (and pasta) which is very authentic using good fresh ingredients. Highly recommend if you go with kids for a pre-theatre dinner - can't go wrong!
Unfortunatly, although gluten free options are available, we were advised that they are not suitable for coeliacs. The only suitable food was a choice of 2 gf pasta dishes. For this reason, we decided to look elsewhere.
Staff were extremely and knowlegable.
We had main and a dessert here in between part 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. They sat us down promptly when we arrived as we had booked and they were more than helpful.
Great service and excellent food. We had a great experience
Good was only slightly above average.
Waiters were a little direct but that could just be the Italian fire in their personalities
Authentic Neapolitan pizza and the Amatriciana sauce is perfect.
We love Rossopomodoro! We have eaten at one in Italy, Denmark, and now in the UK. I definitely recommend making a reservation as this location gets quite busy.
Waited 20 minutes before we were asked for drinks order. Food freshly cooked to order. Seemed plenty of staff just not attentive to ordering or bringing the bill!
Food amazing as usual... Staff very friendly and attentive!
Really delicious food. The best pizza you will ever have.
Best wood-fired pizza we ever had.
I've been several times at this venue and I must admit that since a year the service and the quality kept dropping.
Pizzas are most of the time burnt, the base is often pitch black ruining the taste of the pizza. (It happens when the pizza makers are lazy and don't clean the base of their oven during their service)
The portions of the toppings are shrinking every month, ending up with a £15+ pizza with literally 3 slices of mortadella and a huge load of rocket (just because the last is cheap).
Portions of dessert are also twice smaller compared to the same dessert served a year ago.
3 scoops ice cream with half table spoon of Nutella and a spoon of whipped cream costs around £8.
Furthermore, the service is slow, my friends and I have been ordered 4 pizzas during a not too crowded evening and it took around 20 minutes to cook them.
Wet food authentic Italian food. Pizza crust was amazing and all the pasta sauces were incredible!
Always experiences in Rosso pomodoro were good except last time. I had green pesto pasta which was nice. But when I got up, my white skirt had orange stains all over the front. Obviously table was dirty on the bottom. When I came to a member of stuff to discuss that, they were not really interested, saying we wipe the tables. I explained that happened because tables underneath are dirty and my skirt is ruined, he just shrugged his shoulders. I tried to see the name tag but the person wasn’t even wearing one. Very disappointing experience, I didn’t manage to get the stains off my skirt yet!
Excellent all round! Great lemonade!
The appetisers and pizza were delicious, staff was friendly, will definitely come back!
Great food at reasonable prices, service was friendly and efficient.
We ate at this restaurant before going to a play in the area. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. I did not know that Rossopomodoro was a chain, but I will seek them out when I am back in London or wherever they may be in Europe.
Really lovely restaurant. Great food! Service was slow though. Took an hour to get our mains order with no starters and was very loud.
They did not have the menu published on the web and this led to disappointment
Very good gluten free pizza! Would recommend to anyone! Also very good service, we had a show booked so was in a rush and they prioritised our order which was amazing service!
Cocktails 2for 1 has to be the same cocktail you can’t choose two different ones - disappointing
Enjoyable evening, if a bit noisy. Good pizzas; friendly and reasonably prompt service; some pretty good wines. Open plan kitchen made it interesting to see the staff at work.
Great evening pre theatre meal. Good food, good service and good value for money
Great food great service. Bnn
Loved the food and the service was great. The only negative was the price of the moretti beer, very overpriced.
food was fine but all staffs need to be trained bit more, no one said goodbye or thanks or see you when we left. food came in 37mins with no apologies, took 10mins to pay the bill and inform that they did not have enough change and finally gave my friend 45p less but we just gave up to asked agian... not gonna visit during the busy weekend.
Good food and friendly but slightly slow service. Good atmosphere.
Excellent gluten-free pizza. Really exceptional - taste was fantastic. Highly recommend to all.
Went here because they have gluten free pizza. Hostess was a little snappy with us when we arrived as we were 5 minutes early for our reservation. When we were finally seated, it felt like we were sitting with the people on either side of our table. It was so close it was uncomfortable. Made it difficult to have a conversation. Food was ok. Have had much tastier gluten free pizzas. However the main reason I wouldn’t return is the lack of ambiance, the inability to have a conversation without feeling like the table beside could here every word
Despite queue our 6.30pm booking via Open Table was honoured. Excellent food & service and not rushed out after 90 mins. A bit noisy but hard to see how that cd be resolved in such a busy place.
I always have a great time here! Staff are friendly and point out the specials (which change frequently!) without trying to push them too hard. A great value for delicious Italian food in a clean, open environment.
As I am gluten free I wanted somewhere that could accommodate me and my family and we could all choose pizza off the menu
