A great festive lunch enjoyed at Rowley's, outstanding service from the attentive manager.
Love coming to this restaurant, it never fails to deliver the delicious food. Although, they did forget the spinach this time.
We were seated straight away. The server was helpful and friendly. Our food arrived quickly, and was delicious. The server let us know immediately that the kitchen was closing at 345pm, so we had plenty of time to order and eat both dinner and dessert.
Our second time at Rowleys and it’s become a firm favourite when we visit London for a show or special occasion. Off the main stretch of tourist restaurants and received with a warm welcome. You feel as though you’re old friends and the food and service are first class!
Very welcoming. Steak delicious though presented as scraps of meat. French fries were plentiful but without style (commercially sourced?) Prosseco over-priced for indifferent quality. Terrific service.
Nice food. Good atmosphere.
Have been at Rowley's several times and always been fully satisfied. A must
Wonderful food. Staff were very accommodating. Definitely recommend.
Fabulous restaurant. Wonderful food and service. We had a long birthday lunch and they really looked after us.
Wanderful thanks to Christian and Giada. Very goog meat and super frites all you can eat
I've been visiting Rowley's for years - it's great fun. I always order the same thing - medium rare steak - and it's always excellent.
This visit was slightly disappointing as my table request had not been met even though it was a very quiet evening and the staff were perhaps not as attentive and professional as in the past - perhaps just an 'off' day.
It's also not cheap - £130 for two, with wine and dessert & coffee and that's with a 20% discount.
Finally, my perennial moan that the tables are just a few cms too small - this is not a fast food joint!!
Rowley’s is our favourite in this area. Lovely food all round accompanied by superb service.
Chris was an awesome host and made our meal that much more enjoyable.
Great steaks let down by inattentive and rude service
The food and service were OK. But the noise level was appalling. We could hardly hear ourselves speak. A very tiring experience.
Rowleys' is a classic British restaurant with crowd-pleasing dishes such as steaks, fish and chips and pies.
The restaurant was thankfully "buggy free" and a gentle hum of people enjoying their lunch without excessive noise, civilised.. My prawn cocktail was imaginatively put together and certainly not watery, the main course shepherds pie was wonderfully seasoned and the textures were perfect. Service was slick and worthy of the service charge, but.. we discovered that the staff did not receive it, so we paid them cash and lopped it off the total bill (something didn't seem quite right there). However, I was there to eat, the politics of what happens to the service charge is for the management to resolve.
Lovely food, great service and beautiful surroundings
Very nice but expensive. I didn't feel it was good value for money
Having been to Rowlys previously, my wife and I booked the restaurant for an early evening meal on a day trip to London. Loved the food and service just as much as we had before. Though not cheap the food quality and service made it an enjoyable experience.
We first found this restaurant on a stay at the Cavendish we try and go to Rowleys whenever we can always excellent service food amazing have recommended to family and friends can’t wait to return.
Lovely find. Food excellent. Attentive service. Would highly recommend
Saturday evening meal here on 17th November, this being our first visit. Elegant restaurant with the most delicious food and wine menu. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would certainly visit and recommend this restaurant again.
Great classic British restaurant - professional in every respect - great steaks
Always excellent service and great steaks. This is our favourite place to eat after a day in London
I went for lunch and am unlikely to return.
The cottage pie was tasty but had cold patches. When I was asked about the pie I explained about the low temperature. The waitress gave me a blank look and walked away.
The cauliflower cheese had a watery and bland sauce. I couldn't taste the cheese at all and the consistency was thin. There was no crispy cheese crust on the top which is how my wife makes it!
Very forgettable, except for the bad bits. Overpriced, unremarkable food with indifferent staff.
We had booked Rowleys as a pre-dinner for the Theatre. The service was amazing and our friends absolutely loved it. The food was superb and I can’t commend the staff enough.
One of those places you need to visit. It doesn't disappoint. It's very steak, chips and English. It's wonderful. Staff have got it just right. Friendly, a casual approach but very professional. Couldn't fault our lunch. Probably the most I've ever paid for 6oz of beef but well worth it. Wines good too
Great steaks, good service and wine thats not too pricey.
This was my first return to Rowleys in over 20 years. I dont know why I lost the habit of going to this friendly meat based bistro.
On arrival on Saturday night, I was offered a choice of tables while I waited for my guest to arrive in the torrential rain storm.
The Sommelier was excellent and taught me how to read the menu and wine list without my glasses, so that was already a good start.
The starters looked delicious but as we were going to order the Chateaubriand we decided we needed to be hungry to manage such a fine portion of quality beef cooked to perfection, served on a table burner to keep warm while we enjoyed the constant supply of fries and a small table salad.
The service was warm, smiley and very efficient.
Even though last at the table, we were not rushed out and finished a lovely evening with the Tart Tatin and Pear crumble. Both delicious and not too sweet.
The Chilean wine we chose was good value and overall the bill wasnt bad value at all, especially with the offer from OpenTable taken into account.
I would, and already have, recommend this to anyone wanting to eat in Central London, near Piccadilly. The ambience is friendly and classic, no loud music so we were able to talk without shouting and without the next table hearing us either.
Good beef, good service, good wine, good ambience. What more could you ask for?
This is one of the best steakhouses I have been to for a while. The service was just right. Not too much attention yet we had everything we needed. The food was spot on and unlimited fries are a great touch! Having made it to desert, I would highly recommend the salted caramel chocolate bomb. AMAZING! Great value for money! Can’t wait to go again
I took my sister to lunch on saturday. Ive been here numerous times before. Its always been a lovely relaxing experience with an excellent chateaubriand. Thank you Rowleys.
As always a very pleassnt lunch in one of London’s clasdic restautants.
Not the cheapest place to eat, but consistently good for steaks which have real flavour.
A fairly regular choice now, good for pre-theatre.
Great food and nice ambience
Excellent steak and unlimited supply of fries. For fillet, chips, a carafe of the least expensive red wine, a desert and coffee it cost £91 (incl service). I’d go back but I’d skimp of the desert and coffee and prob have a beer with my food. Waitress was superb
We come once a year to London and always have a meal at Rowlys
The food is very good also the service but this year was very load
Excellent service and value, also the food was so good
That’s why I have to keep going back
Hope this review doesn’t make it too busy to get a table
It is a truly a very nice place to dine
I’m sorry, the food just really wasn’t as good as it should have been. It’s a pleasant environment, and the staff helpful and friendly enough, but ultimately the meal has to satisfy and for me on this occasion it didn’t really.
Tried to get in a few weeks back but had forgotten to book. Booked this time and had a window seat excellent food and great conversation with the staff.
Service arrogant/dismissive, side salad just lettuce, steak not bad, toilets grim, tables cramped together, 12.5% service charge bordering on fraudulent. No atmosphere.
