Great place, can see why it's been there 45 years
Had to push our original reservation forward due to lockdown restrictions - the restaurant had no problems accommodating the change on short notice, and even fulfilled our request for a specific table.
The staff were extremely pleasant, polite and helpful - great team.
My partner and I both had the chateaubriand and it was delicious!
Really happy with everything and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Thanks for making it a special experience on our anniversary!
First time I've visited this restaurant and it won't be the last. It's a little gem of a place just off Piccadilly Circus. The décor is old worldly and reflects the age of the business and the premises. The quality of the food and the service was superb. Thank you Rowley's for such a fabulous meal.
Excellent meal and service. I first went to Rowley’s 35 years ago and it is still as good now as it was back then!
I have been to Rowleys a few times previously, and always enjoyed it. The restsurant itself has considerable understated charm. The food quality is good, and the service excellent. Fairly pricey, but recommended.
It’s always fun and good food. It’s one of our families regulars.
Due to Covid we haven't been to Rowleys since Mid January, it is one of our favourite restaurants. It is still great, food and wine consistent and service friendly and efficient. Nice to be amongst others dining, while at a distance. Hope to go back soon.
Back to its best.
I'm a reasonably regular customer (2-3 visits a year). I came here about six months ago and it had definitely gone awry - I fear that there might even have been a vegan option on the menu. But when I visited a couple of days ago it was back on form. I had a superb steak. Staff were friendly and I had the best waiter I have had anywhere for a long time - attentive, helpful, understanding, not obsequious and gave us what we wanted. Not necessarily ideal for children, but my children do love the everlasting chips.
Lovely place to eat. Good food and excellent friendly service
We love Rowley’s so much! It was our anniversary and we were gifted with a glass of (the absolute best)champagne on arrival. The food is so great here and the service is top quality every time!
Restaurant was nice and I’m sure it’s all down to the current situation but the waiter wasn’t smartly dressed which I kind of expected I felt a bit rushed and for the cost of the food I didn’t think it reflected the taste of presentation
Reliable and well priced for its location. Ate here during tier 2 lockdown, and the restaurant had handled the restrictions well. Service friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Good wine list at a range of prices. Food was very good.
Overall a very pleasant experience. Good food, friendly service. Lacked a little ambience, as quiet than we anticipated, no doubt resultant from COVID-19 restrictions.
Fantastic and great to see it open again - well done to the staff and owners
Lovely setting, beautiful food and restrained service. Would highly recommend the entrocote steak or the salt marsh lamb.
Great steak, good value, and attentive and friendly service. It’s great to dine somewhere with so much history. My only comment would be that the lighting should be dimmed a little in the evening for a better atmosphere. It’s very bright!
Never disappointed! Best steak House in Central London
Great value for money! Steak was really good and all sides were very tasty, really nice waiters too.
Fantastic service - very allergy friendly. Incredible steaks, chips and sides. Short but excellent wine list.
Beautiful Chateaubriand, melted in the mouth and unlimited fries a nice touch!
We visited Rowleys on a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint !
Great venue in heart of London , great food with veggie options to please all the family , great value for money .
Service was excellent gave us some menu options and made the experience special despite Covid !
We will be back !!!
A fantastic lunch, superb service, food and wine. I look forward to returning and recommend this as a place to eat for anyone in this part of London.
The service is lovely, but the food is so slow. We waited 30minutes for our food to arrive. They have an unlimited fries deal, but given the speed at which they arrive, you don’t really get to enjoy everything together. Food is good nonetheless.
Hello, hope you are well and thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to hear that you had to wait for your food. Would you kindly remind me your name or only the table and time you were with us so i can find out what happened and improve from there. feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org should you have any questions. kind regards Adrien
Lovely atmosphere and decor in this tucked away restaurant behind The Strand. There was a problem using our voucher but the restaurant were very accommodating about it and were very helpful. The staff could not have done more for us. The food was simply delicious...the steak was cooked to perfection. A lovey experience. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this to others.
In thirty years the restaurant has maintained its charm, even in these testing times. The staff are great, the food is fantastic and the experience takes you away from the world outside
Great venue for lunch. Service excellent. Good ambiance. Had a slightly retro lunch of prawn salad followed by fish and chips! Wasn’t disappointed.
Lovely lunch but a sign of the times given we were the only people booked in for the duration. Such a shame for the restaurant.
Came for my Dad's 60th birthday as it was his favourite restaurant over 30 years ago! He said he enjoyed himself just as much all these years later. The food was spot on as was the wine. Everything was such good value for money and the happy birthday bunting, candle and glasses of fizz topped it all off as a surprise. The members of staff were welcoming and friendly despite being behind a mask. Will 100% be coming back.
Wonderful meal, wine and service. We were made to feel suitably safe and little attentions to detail from the team made it a special occasion!
I cant say enough about the wonderful service and food.
We had such a nice meal and the service was perfect.
the staff made you feel so safe and let you enjoy the meal ,always there if you needed them without being over the top.
Thank you Roly's
A reduced menu at the moment, but still a good choice of Mains.
Good to be back after being away. Always great food and great service.
Service and food very good, best smoked salmon I have had for a long time. Under new management with a limited selection of wines but fine for our lunch.
The service was brilliant!
Excellent restaurant. Food top class and staff couldn’t have been more courteous. We had the chateaubriand steak with fries and cauliflower cheese followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream with a nice bottle of red. The whole evening was most enjoyable and we will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and visit again next time in London.
how i wish i had read the previous reviews before booking this, as the last few stated new owners and not very good.
I'm sorry to say i have to agree, i was desperate for this to be a good meal as you cannot beat traditional steakhouse in the heart of London.
we have visited many of London's great steakhouses over the last few years, and this one has to be the very bottom.
i should have realized that when on a Saturday evening all other restaurants are booked but Rowleys is only a third full.
you live and learn.
Excellent food and very friendly & professional service. Slightly quiet on arrival (7:15 on a Saturday night) but gradually became more lively towards 8:30-8:45.
Would definitely return.
New management and food deteriorated markedly
OMG, what’s happen. It was one of my favourite dinning places but seems the new management got it absolutely wrong.
We had starters, scallops ( you will get 1 scallop) for £18 and Tomatoes and Mozzarella (you will get one tiny slice of mozzarella and some tomatoes) for £14. The fillet steak (£32 each) been tiny, approx.. 100g….
Overall, not worth the money at all, sadly… I did like the place…. Before..
The food was delicious. They didnt have our normal steak and chicken with fries but what we did have was lovely
