Excellent as always . We all enjoyed the evening and no doubt will be back again at some point
A totally reliable and always memorable and satisfying experience.
As good as it was 20 years ago. Sublime steak and bottomless fries with lovely staff. Quiet on a Sunday night but always a treat.
Birthday and Father’s Day combined lunch celebration, had the cote de boeuf special offer which was delicious and excellent value, food was delicious as always, never disappointed at Rowley’s
Had an excellent steak entrecôte birthday supper. We had an early supper as we’d been at the summer exhibition at the RA, hence the lower score on ambiance as it was fairly quiet during our meal. The service was excellent, we will return and would recommend.
There's a reason that Rowley's is a classic. It knows what it does well and continues to do so. It's a place that is decidedly old-fashioned in the sense that it isn't swayed by trends and fads. That confidence and competence is what makes it a joy. The steaks are wonderful. The frites hot and crisp. The drinks are big and strong. The service is attentive but not overbearing. It's a wonderful place for the kind of lunch with friends that has a danger of rolling into the early afternoon. A gem--never change, Rowley's.
Great venue, always enjoy it. Attentive service, fantastic food.
Excellent meal in lovely surroundings. Attentive & pleasant staff. Food was certainly on the expensive side!!
Steak was served rather cool. And burner flame went out. Fries were not as crispy as they used to be.
As regular visitors to Rowley's, we are always pleasantly satisfied. And this last occasion was no exception. We were welcomed by the door, sat in our preferred table and enjoyed glasses of Prosecco. The choice of food was delicious as always and the battered cod with 'unlimited' chips exceptional.
this is a fancy restaurant that lives on post glories very disappointing expensive and nothing special - service wasn't great either shame
Perfect location for a high quality lunch in a great atmosphere, with outstanding customer service.
Good and relaxed service but disappointing food , restaurant half full if that therefore not much atmosphere
Food was fine, we ordered bread, as we had no starter course but it did not arrive until after the main course had and the salad did not arrive until half way through eating . Never ending frites we’re not apparent until we waved to ask for them. Service was slow until we asked for the bill which arrived instantly. 12.5% service charge added automatically which was unjustified as it was very poor. Too awkward to ask for it to be reduced or deducted. A shame as we have been to Rowleys before and really enjoyed it. We shall not return.
I really enjoyed my experience here. Great food and lovely staff
I first visited Rowley's (several times!!) when it opened in the latter 1970s and it is still as good all these years later. The Staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food was terrific (we even went back again after the Theatre, for coffee and desert(s)!!) and the whole experience was an absolute pleasure.
Had a great dinner and the ambience mixed with the food was very good. I will be back.
My order was incorrect even though we were the 2nd people in the restaurant. They messed up the order of an elderly couple near us who had been there many times. It simply wasn’t that special.
Food v good. The atmosphere was good too. Waiters very friendly yet a little bit blunt. Softer tone recommended. Overall v happy and would go again.
Used to be a lot better has gone down hill. Waiter berybgood and attentive. Food average.
Excellent food and courteous service. Thoroughly recommended.
Food, presentation, service and ambiance were outstanding, will be recommending this place to friends and definitely will be going back!
Really good steak restaurant which is very expensive for what it is- however they always seem to be offering discounts of 25% off the food bill or some times a freebie bottle of champagne or wine so the value ends up ok in the end!
Food, drink, service all excellent
We re-visited Rowley's restaurant after a gap of at least 20 years! The steak on the table burner was just as good as we remembered with the garlic, herby butter. The unlimited chips were good. The staff were efficient and friendly. We will definitely go back ...but in months this time, not years!
Not really what I was expecting from previous reviews. I chose Rowleys to have dinner with a client. Having chosen a £50+ bottle of wine, (x2) I didn’t expect a waiter to address our Managing Director in the discourteous and unprofessional way that he did. “Are you having wine love?” Really?
The food was good, but too pricey for a small 6oz filet steak. We completed our mains and were never approached again after plates our were cleared. No desserts, teas, coffees drinks offered. We finished our second bottle of wine and asked for the bill. No surprise to hear that I’ll give this place a wide berth in future.
Close to theaters but tucked away on Jermyn Street away from busy Picadilly this small restaurant has delicious beef and steak entrees. Casual restaurant
It was not the first time I went to Rowley's; and every time I like it very much
Very friendly service and great food, as always. A firm family favourite.
Wonderful lunch venue moments from Piccadilly in Jermyn Street. We had lunch for two. Restaurant was not very busy but it was the Friday before a bank holiday. We had goats cheese and avocado/prawn salad to start, both perfectly done. We each had the entrecôte steak for main course. It’s a house speciality and well recommended. It was beautifully cooked, kept warm on a hot plate in the middle of the table. Extremely tender. The generous portion of fries was served and the remainder then kept warm for a naughty second helping. We eschewed the wine list as we both had to get back to work, which was a shame as it looked rather good. With just tap water the bill came to £103 including service, which we thought reasonable for the high quality of food and the location. Would definitely go back.
Only marked ambience down as we ate very late so it was pretty quiet in the restaurant. Loved the wine available by carafe and unlimited fries!!
First class meal out. Chose this for a post graduation family meal and were not disappointed.
Food, service as good as ever. I try and go here once a year if I can. The Entrecôte is great and delicious. Never ending fries a nice touch.
Excellent food, service and staff. 2nd visit and just as good as last time.
Great food and great service
Great food delicious wine fab service - what’s not to like
Fantastic experience as always in our favourite London restaurant. Terrific service, delicious whitebait and fishcakes to start, superb entrecote and fillet steaks with roquefort sauce and perfect fries, all washed down with Berry Bros. & Rudd Good Ordinary Claret. Oh, and the chocolate bomb and tarte tatin afterwards were to die for!!! Thanks for once again exceeding our expectations!
Consistently good, nice ambience and quiet, always a pleasure to find a restaurant that encourages conversation, not shouting
Had birthday lunch for 4 people on Sunday. The steak was outstanding - and all for a very reasonable price, including the wine!
Have been dining at Rowley's for 30 years. Consistently good quality.
Disappointed really. We have passed this restaurant many times and it has always looked nice inside. It was Mother’s Day and very quiet. The food was fine but simple with poor presentation. Even with the Sunday 25% discount it was vastly overpriced. The desserts were the best bit.
