Nope. Very disappointed. Bad service, bad food, waited 50 minutes for our food once we ordered.
Great spot. Lights out food and people. Just keeps getting better. Salad and Empanadas are insane and any meat dish is special.
It was my 2nd visit to the Royal Hawaiian and equally as enjoyable as my 1st. The atmosphere, service and food experience were memorable. I am looking forward to my next visit.
Thanks to the entire staff!
The name of the restaurant and the offered food have no connection. The meals were very tasty and so the deserts.
We loved the decor and vibe of the place. The empanadas were AMAZING. Try them all! Unfortunately the ahi ahi tuna entree was a little bland and my husband's one had a big fatty part. If the tuna has been better I would give 5 starts all around.
I loved the delicious Quilmes beer & my juicy burger. I am surprised a restaurant like this has no toilet seat covers in neither the women’s or men’s restrooms. Other than that, everything was great! I was able to book our reservation and was immediately seated upon arrival. We changed our minds about sitting outside and the host was quick to accommodate us. I highly recommend this place. We parked for $20 in the parking lot to the right. There’s a little alley there that is minutes from the beach.
Fantastic food and service. Maro, Patty and Stefan are the absolute best!
We had high expectations of the Royal Hawaiian as we had eaten there many years ago when it was under former ownership/management. We had hoped there would be some of the same things kept on the menu and inside the restaurant but unfortunately there was quite a drastic change to every facet of our beloved Royal Hawaiian. The servers were nice but hard to get their attention to get our food and drink orders. A few times we had to "borrow" the server from another table to get some of our things ordered. When we paid our tab we actually had to go up to the bar to process it as we could not locate our server. We also had a VERY loud foursome of diners one table over from us that only got louder as the night went on. The restaurant was not full by any means so we were a little confused why we were seated so close to another group because their conversation and "colorful language" made it hard to concentrate on anything my husband and I were trying to talk about. For the price of the entrees and drinks, I would have hoped for better presentation, flavor and service. Sad to say we probably won't be going back. But my Bahama Mama cocktail was delicious :-)
Food, drinks and service were fantastic.
Wonderful evening! Great chef, great servers, great food!
Great food. Great service. Love eating outdoors. Even with PCH right there. Good people watching.
Also a good local spot.
We are first time visitors to this restaurant, and had a super time with Chase, our server, Max, our bartender and masseur, our chef! The food was delicious and in an exquisite art form! The drinks were custom-made to make us satisfied and happy, thank you so much, we will come back!
Not the Royal Hawaiian of old, in facother than decor & music not Hawaiuan at all. Food was excellent but not Hawaiian. Wait staff very attentive. Nice selection of entrees.
Food a service were top notch. Beat the crowds into this gem. Short walk to the beach after a delicious meal.
Chase was an awesome waiter 😊
It’s okay. If you have food allergies do not go here
The food is so flavorful right down to the side dishes.
This is my go to place for a great diner. The ambiance is awesome and the drinks are top notch!
I know the owners tried to upgrade to make things better, but I rally miss the old Royal Hawaiian. The place used to be lively with a go to menu like the wiki wiki salad! so much hsa changed. they were also out of everything we wanted to order. From no bread to no Ahi! how can that possibly be?? anyhow, I was super bummed. Im hoping its just because they are trying to get back up to speed post covid stuff. We will try again later this summer!
Waiters were very slow to offer drinks, and were just plain awkward!
Always a great Laguna dinner out. Watching the bartender provides the entertainment 😎.
The food was fantastic.
Food and service were good, though would have preferred to be seated inside the restaurant or in their enclosed patio instead of on the sidewalk.
Party of 6. Two kids.
We ordered 2 alcoholic bev, 3 sodas and 1 lemonade.
We received our food before our drinks. We waited a very long time for everything. Our reservations were at 2:30.... not a very busy time. The restaurant was not packed at all. The servers could be seen just standing around chatting... quite loudly. For the price of their menu, the service does not even come close. And.... the server ran my card 3 times for the same amount and had to keep rerunning. My statement looks crazy. Won’t be going back and won’t be referring anyone to this restaurant. I can find good food and good service at a million other locations in OC... not a problem. If they stepped up service, this would be a totally different review. Couldn’t look past how bad it was. Disappointment for such an iconic Laguna Beach restaurant.
The Service was terrible and I was there celebrating Father's Day...
The drinks were amazing, the food was amazing, and we had a very nice time. The best mushroom and cheese empanada and Pastor empanada were so delicious.
Great place to eat! The food is delicious. The service was great. The menu is complete, even with Argentinean accents which is why we came back. Loved the gnocchi and the dulce de leche crepes.
Fantastic food at reasonable prices
The service was BAD! We waited 20 minutes to get our menu and then we had to wait for another 40 minutes to get our food. They were extremely slow even though there were not many customers that night. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.
Chimchurri bread, salad and empanadas were great!
Absolutely delightful. Will come again!
Excellent and friendly service.
This is one of our favorite casual dining places in Laguna Beach. Maro and his team make you feel welcome and part of they local community. Along with that the food is SO DELICIOUS every time. Everything we have ordered is 100% wonderful. Some of our favorites - the salmon, gnocchi, sausage appetizer (could be a whole meal), the empanadas etc etc etc. Don't be fooled by the Hawaiian name....this is Argentinian grilled meats and vegetables with some Hawaiian twists. They do have some KILLER drinks.....be careful with the Lapu Lapu. It may look beautiful and taste yummy but it will sneak up on you! My husband and I split one. This is a great place. Be sure to add it to your list on your next visit.
Poor service ordered
Beautiful hidden Hawaiian gem on PCH. Loved the food/ drinks and service!
Great food, great service, great drinks, and the banana fire grilled Banana bread is a must, our new favorite restaurant. The owners and staff are really fantastic, and are very personable.
I enjoy the experience what I would recommend it and I would go back again at the fact that we will go back again.
2nd great meal here in a week! Our new favorite restaurant!
Food was rather bland and tasteless. Meat was undercooked. Drinks and chimichurri bread were good.
We only had lapus but the evening was great. Team left us alone and were very accommodating considering Laguna restrictions.
