Although the service was very good, waiting times were too long. The tea room was being renovated and there was a lot of noise coming from the construction work. The sandwiches were average, the scones were very nice but the sweets were not great. The waiter and waitress were very polite and apologetic about the noise. The price was too high for the quality of the food.
Good food but the attendants not at all good. Took 2 hours to serve tea. Asked for a veg tea and was served fish and chicken and attendant insisted fish is vegetarian. Took 1 hour for water. Ambience is good. Food was good except fries were served cold but was replaced with fresh when complained. Over all bad experience specially because I had taken wife out for hi tea on her b’day.
Disappointed with their serive and food. Had been waiting for 30mins to be served.
Excellent Service could not feel anymore Welcomed and fully briefed on the Menu Criteria History look forward to revisiting especially when the Refurbishment is Completed
It was great tea time at royal lancaster london. They were very kind. Tea and food were also good.
The sweeties part of the afternoon tea was quite horrible, just like home made £10 quality and experience but charging at £35 + service charge.
Texture of the scone is very disappointing too.
Overall, the worst afternoon tea experience so far...Very sad...
Unfortunately, disappointing experience. Compared to other afternoon teas of a similar price point, this does not match up. There is absolutely NO atmosphere in this hotel, it is served in a room alongside a buffet breakfast display. There was one staff member on, who was very nice, but terribly slow service. The tea itself was okay, but not the highest quality food and drinks.
Unfortunately the hotel didn't have our booking which wasn't a great start, but managed to accommodate us anyway. The venue was very quiet, which meant there wasn't much atmosphere, but you weren't rushed in and out like some other London tea venues. Good value, and a nice location to catch up with friends.
Food was lovely, service was very good. They were extremely attentive. Had an issue with the scones where they needed to rebake a batch so they were delayed. They were extremely apologetic & explained the delay & kept checking on us during that. In the end we also were given extra scones to take home in a package with jam & cream to say sorry.
The only downside was that the venue is nice, but as it's a hotel on the park I would have expected the room would have overlooked/been near the park, but sadly it was not.
We booked champagne tea for eight as part of a 21st birthday celebration but I did not mention this when booking. When we arrived early The staff were completely unruffled and took us straight to our table, which was very well set up in the lounge area. There was plenty of space between the tables so it felt quite private and relaxed. From the moment we arrived our waiter Kenneth and the rest of the staff were very attentive, ensuring that everyone was made to feel welcome. Kenneth explained everything about the range of teas (which are excellent) and the menu. We enjoyed a good selection of different teas and some excellent champagne. The food was truly wonderful, a delicious range of sandwiches and delightful cakes, followed by scones fresh from the oven with clotted cream and jam. When the waiter heard that one of our guests did not like jam he offered her the Lancaster's very own honey. There was absolutely no pressure for us to rush but equally we were never left waiting when we needed anything. I know that some people expect to have their tea poured for them but I was pleased that the staff allowed us to manage this ourselves as it is much less intrusive. My daughter was very surprised when the staff having discovered it was her 21st came out with a small cake and a huge sparkler and sang happy birthday -plus a little gift! As there were no reviews available when I booked I was a bit worried that it might not meet our expectations but I can only say that it was a splendid afternoon with excellent service from Kenneth in a very relaxed and friendly environment. Well worth a visit but be warned this is a sumptuous tea so make sure you have a good appetite and you will not be disappointed. Thank you Lancaster for providing the perfect end to our weekend.
