Our bar staff and servers are caring and friendly, and we are always trying to bring you the best and most personal service we can. To us, there is nothing nicer than making our customers’ days special and better than when they came in! On offer here at The Royal Oak, we have an amazing selection of cask ales and fine lagers for you to choose from. We also have an extensive premium gin selection, with Fever Tree tonic offered to accompany your gin of choice.
Food was not great. my husband simply wanted to ge tup and go into another place.
Can I just Thank the management, staff and chef for an amazing Christmas Day lunch. The food was exceptional and well worth the price. The staff were very attentive and made the experience very relaxing not rushing us to eat and leave. Think we will doing the same next year 10 out of 10

We have been here a couple of times recently with our young family, the food was lovely, very generous portions & the children’s portions were more than expected, staff are very pleasant and followed the government guidelines during this pandemic, they are doing an amazing job & we will definitely see you again in the future.

Fantastic pie and a pint, warm and friendly, young woman waiting on was on her own was lovely and attentive even when she was very busy, would recommend booking a table and recommended the pie

We went for dinner at the Royal Oak while on holiday in York. The food was delicious and well presented. Service was excellent and very friendly atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. The pub is is also beautiful inside mix of modern in the main lounge and original in other rooms which were very quant. Would highly recommend a visit to the Royal Oak

Amazing as always lovely food and amazing service
Only the 'set menu' is available and the cost of the 2 course and 3 course meals are clearly marked. What is not clear however is that not all the food on the menu qualifies for the set menu! I ordered steak and only later found out this did not qualify (apparently each meal has to have SM after it to qualify). So that was disappointing. But the steak was awful, really chewy and gristly.
The pub is nice and has a good atmosphere, but the food was very disappointing, and expensive for what it was.

Fantastic service from all the waitresses. Unfortunately our food did come to us cold but the staff were very apologetic and they fixed the situation immediately making the whole experience very enjoyable. Food was delicious especially the jam sponge dessert.
