Food was awful lamb tough and broccoli under cooked potatoes tasted old when i informed staff they said they would decuct money from bill. Got our bill and £2.24 deducted saying food delay . Apauling service over crowded table wasnt ready and we were in at 3.50 got seated at 4.30 having booked for 4pm will not be going back
Tastes food good choice good service will be going back
Attended the Ruperra Arms for mother’s day.
The food was good however the service left a lot to be desired.
Was sat at our table and waited 30 mins before our food order was taken, then felt rushed to finish as they had booked so many in
The pub is nicely laid out and welcoming. The staff were very friendly. The food was ok. Nothing wrong with it but I expected more for the price. I would come here again for a drink but not sure if I would eat here again.
We have been here about 8 times , the first 2 times were really good , as for the others the food and service not very good, we were here on Friday night, and were very disappointed, we were not told that we would have to wait quite a while for our main courses, we had been waiting for a long time, when we asked we were told it would be 5-10 minutes, we eventually had it about 25 minutes later and my husbands gammon was cold and then we noticed I asked for medium steak and there was still blood coming out of it , the manager came and told us that it happens when it is resting, I have had a lot of medium steaks and I have never had blood still coming out out of it, both mine and my husbands food were taken back , when they arrived again the food was like warm , we ate as much as we could as we were both starving we told the waitress when she asked if our food was ok that it was luke warm, she spoke to the manager and our main meals were removed from the bill, the food and service was very disappointing
Lovely food , great service had to put Loud noise levels as it was packed full of people enjoying themselves , look forward to our next visit
Fantastic food as always, the staff were friendly and helpful. Love this place
Potatoes were hard as not cooked long enough . Tables are very close to each other but still a nice place and staff were excellent.
I had fish and chips the chips were not nice dry and overcooked I think its overpriced for what you get
Excellent as usual.
The service was very slow. We had the Sunday roast and the beef was very tough. We sent it back but the second piece was just as bad. Half the desserts weren't available but they still charged us for two courses. The apple curmble which was available was partially cooked apple with crumbs on top and I don't think they had been cooked together. Overall very disappointing.
Fabulous Sunday lunch.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Only negative comment would be it was way too hot being seated near a roaring fire. Excellent service and lovely food.
Went with my husband for Valentine’s night, waited over an hour for our mains they didn’t seem that busy , our table was booked for 7.15 so was an early sitting, when the mains came my lamb rump was quite small and both our chips were cold, we did tell the waitress about the chips but she only brought out new ones for myself none for my husband , so we shared them , was going to order a desert but thought how long would that be so we paid our bill and left so was very disappointed this time as we have been here a few times
We went for a 3 course lunch on Valentines Day. We almost cancelled due to low hygiene score and some poor reviews. We are glad we ignored this. Service was warm and friendly. As a deaf couple with one of us poor sight we asked for table in well lit area. They had the perfect table waiting for us. Three courses were all fabulous. Lamb main was delicious. Only minor moan was there could have been a couple more spuds and veg. Starters spicy parsnip soup was hot and tasty with warm crusty bread. Cheese and leek cakes were busting with flavour. Our chocolate trio dessert was divine. Pavlova with chocolate cream was lush as was muffin and white choc tart. Was our first visit but we will return soon. Lovely pub mix of old and contemporary. Cosy with fire roaring away. Great drink choices.
Food was a high standard and well presented. The only fault is having to wait an hour for food. But would definitely go again and recommend to others
Sunday lunch a bit of a disaster. Long wait for service, soup cold and ruined by addition of needless balsamic syrup. No serving spoons for vegetables and found main course rather lacklustre. No desserts as too much time taken by first two courses. To round things off discovered that the place had been given a 1 food hygiene rating! Not a good experience. Will not return.
Wonderful Sunday lunch. Beef brisket was amazing
Our table was in a bar area! Food took over an hour to arrive. My fish and chips was okish not the hottest. My friend had lamb with vegetables. He asked for it not to be pink and cooked well. It was pink and he could hardly cut it let alone chew it! It was like rubber! His vegetables were over cooked and quite black. Wasn't impressed and won't be rushing back sorry!
Lovely meal, amazing food and overall lovely restaurant. Will definitely be going again!
Polite and quick service, nice atmosphere and food was beautiful both in taste and presentation.
We have used the ruppera quite often over the last few years. Unfortunately it’s had a decline in quality the last year and this visit being the most disappointing. Now a 1 star on the hygiene rating (used to be 5) it puts you off. The food was ok, slow to come out and starters were missing part of the ingredients. The waitress were friendly and helpful. The place was still busy but it’s lost the refinery it once had. Hope it get back to full health! The deserts were bad, the mint after 8 cheese cake being the worst I’ve ever had. The base was green and almost like chewing gum. The drinks were lovely. Warm and cosy atmosphere.
Marked down purely because it took close to an hour to produce our food. They were not busy. Food excellent.
5 of us ordered mains. My father’s dinner arrived 5 minutes after ours. A couple behind us had their complete order before his arrived. 4 of us had pudding. We’d waited awhile to order these but I had to ask the 2 waitresses stood chatting behind the bar if one of them could please go to the table so we may order. The crumbles came 1st but my father had asked at point of order for custard. The other 2 puddings came. I had to ask about the custard. By the time it arrived I had eaten 3/4 of mine. The quality of the food was good. The ambience was good. Sadly let down very badly by poor service.
Great Sunday lunch. Second visit and both meals excellent. Three courses c£20.00.
A very disappointing visit to a once enjoyable establishment. We were seated promptly and our order was taken. Starters did arrive swiftly and were enjoyable despite the prawn and avocado cocktail missing the avocado. There was then a 30 minute wait for the main courses to arrive during which time our starter plates were not cleared. When they did arrive the main courses were underwhelming, with the childrens' meals slightly burnt however I wasn't willing to wait a further 30 minutes for food.
The most off putting part of the evening however was allowance of vaping in the bar restaurant area, I was surprised that this was allowed in a restaurant, when challenged the manager advised that this is a ruling of the owners.
In hindsight I should have probably taken more notice of the 1 star hygiene rating and gone elsewhere. I would happily return for a drink in the Ruperra, assuming the vaping issue is dealt with, the staff were friendly and courteous, however I will not be returning for food. I am sorry to say that I cannot recommend this place for eating.
Had to ask for a menu after about 10 mins sat down, food was OK, beer/wine great, was given someone else's bill, good night but doubt be going back in a hurry.
Great local venue. Fab menu, something for everyone. Great for a Friday Night catch up with friends. Team very friendly and professional.
Very nice evening meal a few nights ago. Food was cooked to perfection and we didn’t have to wait an age for it to be served. Both courses we were asked if everything was ok which you don’t always get. Seating was a tad snug and my wife found it to be a bit on the cold side in the restaurant although I thought it was fine. Would come here again for sure.
Delicious Sunday dinner which deserves 5/5. On another occasion three course which was very good.
The only recommendation I could give was for servers to be more aware; I was told no gluten free options for dinner, although when I pushed her to ask chef for no gravy or Yorkshire’s she came back apologetic and said she wasn’t aware it could be done.
On another occasion no prawns in prawn and avocado salad. Originally offered a 60p good will discount from bill. However, I very uncomfortably pushed the issue and the starter was deducted from bill.
It’s very busy there, but fixing these minor comms issues between staff would go an extremely long way as it’s such a lovely place with great atmosphere and delicious food.
Looking forward to eating here for the first time but surprised to see that it was only a 1 on the hygiene rating when we arrived. However the food was pretty good but the service let it down. We were a table of 4 adults and 2 children, although not in a rush we were very disappointed that the service was soo slow, even to the point we had to keep asking for things and left without dessert.
Lovely food & atmosphere, staff extremely friendly & welcoming.
Very happy with the food and wine we choose. Staff attentive and knowledgable. Lovely cosy feel, we will recommend and return.
Sadly not one for us. We used to be regulars our starters went missing to another table, then ms6ins turned up before starters, starters stone cold in the middle, mains quality very poor. Manager apologised and very pleasant, but very sadly, very poor. Not one on our go to list at all. Sad but true.
Enjoyed starters and appetisers but main courses let you down. Four of our part wanted the feather stark but only 2 available. No sides with three of our meals. Chicken and chorizo sandwich tasted odd.
Lovely ambiance though.
Great food, great beer. You have to try it
We went as a family of 6 to celebrate my son's birthday. The food was delicious as always and we had a great time!
Went here last Monday. Was lovely.
Food was fab.
Service was great.
Would definitely recommend it.
Food was nice, few mistakes with orders but lovely atmosphere
We waited well over an hour for our starters, had to keep going to the bar to get any drinks and my 3 year old nephew had a bit of bread and some carrots and you tried to charge for a full children’s meal. All tables had been booked so whilst it was busy, it didn’t take a genius to look at the bookings and realise that. The food was horrible, lamb was full of fat and the yorkie was rock solid. Disgraceful and I will not return
