Everything about the Russian Tea Room is superb. Food, ambiance, service, everything!
Food was great, but there were service issues that ruined the experience. It seems that our order didn’t make it to the kitchen and about after 40 minutes of waiting, the manager came to let us know what happened, that the food was being rushed, and gave us a free shot which was appreciated. This whole time the server was non existent and never apologized or mentioned what happened. It still took 30 minutes to get our dishes with no apology from server. The food was great, but frustrating to see other diners sit after us, eat and leave before we got the food. Would love to give a 5, but we left very dissatisfied.
Iconic experience. Food was very good. Service was very good. Prices were very high. Can find similar quality of food and service for 2/3 of the price. The Iconic experience tacks on the additional 1/3.
It just felt too expensive and it wasn’t anything special
Food and tea were delicious! We had a large selection of bites and sweets for our Royal Afternoon tea. The caviar was the hit in our group, so we were glad that we had an extra helping of the caviar with our Royal Afternoon Tea. Service was impeccable. You felt welcomed and the festive spirit as soon as you walked in.
Somehow it seemed that there was more focus on larger groups.
This place is great for lunch with mom celebrating the holiday!
Visit to NYC for Thanksgiving weekend. Restaurant lobby was very crowded at the time we arrived. But we were seated in a timely fashion and got superb service.
Wonderful as usual
We made a reservation weeks in advance for Thanksgiving. We were not given a booth which was very disappointing. We spent nearly 500 dollars on a dinner for two people. The food was diner-quality. The service was proficient but not warm. And we were seated at a table right next to another couple. It was a tourist trap hell hole.
Way too expensive for what we had. You are basically paying to say you ate there.
The staff was amazing, but that’s where it ends. The food was lukewarm. It was their Thanksgiving menu, and everything that came out seemed like it had been prepared hours ago and heated up in the microwave right before making its way to the table. The stuffing was burnt, and the turkey and mashed potatoes resembled Stouffer’s TV dinner PERFECTLY. However, instead of paying $2.99 I paid $145 per person. Lesson learned. The staff was amazing though, and everyone was so polite.
Just a beautiful experience. Service and food were just on point.
Fabulous food, exquisite surroundings, attentive wait staff. Everything you need for a special evening during the Holidays, or any time of year when you want to make a memory.
Nice atmosphere. Portions are small if you are using the Groupon for your meal.
The Russian Tea room is well known located in the famous Carnegie building so we had high expectations and were excited. We ordered afternoon tea. The tea sandwiches were average, the cutting of some of the sandwiches was not well done. The tea was made from teabags - and poor quality teabags. I also found it quite disappointing that the presentation of the food on the 3-tier stand was poorly done - no time and attention put into this. One of the things I like about afternoon tea is the attention for details and the prettiness in everything. I badly missed all this at the Russian Tearoom.
The ambiance and decor were very nice and this helps to make our time there enjoyable nevertheless.
A Reunion dinner special occasion and this was the perfect venue. Wine list seems to have shrunk but we were able to find something to drink. One of my NYC regulars
Went for lunch and sat in a booth which was very comfortable. Interesting retro decor to look at. Had a delicious Caesar salad with grilled chicken. My sister got the dumplings which could have been a little hotter. I would recommend this place if you are looking for an iconic NYC establishment. A few tables were getting the Vodka and caviar lunch or the afternoon tea service. If I went back I would try the tea service, it looked lovely with a 3 tier tray of finger sandwiches and then another tray with desserts. Our waiter could have been a little more attentive, but not a big deal. Overall it was relaxing and a fun experience.
So very disappointed. I asked about their reserved wine collection. Before I could even finish my sentence the waitress cut me off and said ‘I don’t have any idea about the wines so I can’t help you with any questions about the wine list’. Before I finished my sentence to ask if there was someone else I could ask, I was cut off again and told no one could help me. The prices on the wine list were from $200-$2000. I had to sit there and Google the wines. Very frustrating. Then I picked one. And the waitress wanted the number on the list. Not the name, the number. There was a sign when we first walked in stating there was a ‘$90 minimum to eat there’. So sad that an establishment such as the Russian Tea Room has to post a minimum. I guess the quality of people coming in aren’t great? But if the wait staff continues in this direction, you are not going to get quality guests. It was just me, my husband and our 11 year old son. Our bill was close to $600. We have eaten everywhere in NYC. I have never experienced the terrible service we had at Russian Tea Room. It was like she didn’t want to be there. But anyone that is waiting tables should know the more money the guest spends, the higher the tip will be. If we are asking about the reserved wine list, she should have tried to help us. We would have spent much more. I don’t think they are going to make it. There was hardly anyone there. We had no problem making a reservation last minute. Everything else in the area was booked. I hope they can get the Russian tea room back to the place it used to be. So bummed.
To spend our anniversary in such an amazing iconic NY eatery was unbelievable! The decor, staff and food was outstanding!!!!
Food was dry, boring, and overall very poor. The vibe and service are great, but not the food. Not what it used to be.
Surprisingly reasonable Sunday brunch. Menu had plenty of offerings to fit any budget. Beautiful decor, great service. Would definitely return.
This was not authentic Russian at all in anyway whatsoever.
It was all American food. The waiters didn’t even speak Russian.
Fantastic food & a wonderful waiter in a brilliant environment. Loved it!
Had a great time.
This was the 3rd time I had dinner at the Russian tea room so I decided to take my wife and kids this time as the Russian tea room is a very iconic restaurant in NYC. They loved the cool Russian decor and unique food offerings but if your go bring your wallet because it's not cheap but worth it for the experience.
The food wasn’t really good. The first and last experience at this spot.
The food was fabulous! We were seated immediately! Service was beyond wonderful!
A landmark, nice atmosphere. Service conscientious.
Excellent service and a beautiful place for afternoon tea. The food was wonderful. My two daughters 10 and 15 loved it
Food was delicious and ambiance was great. They have short staffed so service was a little slow
Extremely slow service and food was mediocre. This place is living on their legacy, but they are sadly nothing like they were in their heyday. Was there for an advertised “business express lunch”, which should have taken about an hour. Salad, chicken dish, and dessert took over 2 hours.
Excellent service. We always eat at the Russian Tea Room when we're in New York. Today we had the early tea - other times we have one of their great entree's. The staff is always gracious and welcoming. If you enjoy a cocktail, try their Moskow Mule.
It has been years since I last dined at the Russian Tea Room and I remember it very well since I sat in the banquet next to Mary (of Peter, Paul and Mary). What a treat.
The restaurant is beautiful, the staff very professional, and the food is marvelous.
Campy. Horrible service. Rude manager.
No place like it!
Beef Wellington is delicious
Cosmonaut is fruity and light
Service is wonderful
