Ruthie's All-Day

The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

We liked our octopus appetizer last time we dined at Ruthie’s but this time it was gloppy (way too much sauce!) and rubbery (ick).
The deviled eggs were great. We liked our Rhone wine and cornbread. But those three items do not a good experience make.

Dinner was good, but service is abrupt and a bit clumsy. They sat us in a room with boxes and silverware trays, this should be cleaned up if you want larger parties to have a good atmosphere and not feel like an afterthought. Server, hostesses and busing staff all need a little polish.

Food was well prepared and fresh. Would benefit from additional menu items.
Would be nice if you could bring your own wine.

There’s a nice but small outdoor patio. Unfortunately lots of flies everywhere.

This was another memorable visit to RAD, with friends from Colorado who thoroughly enjoyed their first-time experience at RAD. The smoked pork chop and the peach cobbler were both hits with our out-of-town friends.

Food was very good and portions were generous. Service was attentive and it’s a nice, bright atmosphere. It’s somewhat loud inside.

The chicken cooked over live fire is my go to dinner and I could eat it daily. All the smoked meats are incredible, as are the delicious sides. Do NOT miss the milk bread, biscuits and expert desserts.

I’ve been here for breakfast, brunch, dinner. Each time has been fantastic from the chicken and biscuit to the sticky ribs I’ve also had a burger I can’t rave enough about the food. Do yourself a favor and just go out you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

I've wanted to try Ruthie's All-Day since I heard they were opening and last night I finally had my chance.
This is the kind of food that people write POEMS about. Or songs. It is absolutely delectable. The smoked brisket positively melted in my mouth. Everything I had was incredible.
I cannot wait to go back. I am officially obsessed.

We arrived for our 7:15 reservation to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, the restaurant was backed up and we weren’t seated until 7:45. The restaurant did offer us either a free appetizer or dessert due to the wait.

We had registered that it was a birthday celebration, but after the wait we ate relatively quickly because my kids had school the next morning. Our meals came out before our drinks.

When we went to pay and leave, the bill included the offered free appetizers as well as a drink we hadn’t ordered. They fixed the charges after we caught it and pointed it out. No one in the restaurant referenced that it was a special occasion.

We were seated straight away. The server was friendly and attentive. A bit of confusion with the food delivery but when it arrived it was well presented and tasty. The steak was just ok. The branzino could have been seasoned better. The chicken sandwich was fantastic, crispy on the outside and moist in the center. The cookies and ice cream and caramel pudding were delicious. Overall good experience. Will return again to try other menu items.

Service got off to a slow start, but most places are understaffed right now, and they were BUSY. Thoroughly enjoyed the apple donuts, the shrimp/jalapeno hushpuppies, the brisket hash, and the chicken biscuit. Also? The "Good Morning Honey" cocktail is my new favorite thing.

I brought my 2 discerning girlfriends for dinner at Ruthies last night. I am a regular and live Ruthies, so I was excited and a tiny nervous to bring my friends after I have super hyped it up - totally lived up to the hype! We had a great night! Patio is full but nothing crowded, always feel like I have space but not isolated. Got the octopus and it’s just as delicious as the first 5 times I’ve had it. We shared the duck (amazing), cornbread, Brussels sprouts, pimento & prosciutto board, and the tuna ahi. Everything was perfect but then we got the dessert and there is a new peach cobbler that was unbelievably good. Also had the delicious butterscotch pudding. Love this place!

I’d heard many raves about Ruthies, so, I wasn’t expecting a diner-like ambiance. They did lower the lights just b/4 we left. But, at 6:15 0n a Sat evening, the place was packed and the sound-level off the charts.

My hanger steak was prepared as l asked (rare), which doesn't always happen😊 I didn't care for the tomato-based sauce but had asked for it on the side. The sides (collards & fries) were good. I brought home my left- overs. I'll give them another try based on the food alone.

Delicious hanger steak, brisket, burger, french fries, salad, corn bread. 😋 collard greens too salty. - service a bit slow between courses and to get our check. Quiet at 4:30 but crowds poured in after 5:30-6:00 and the noise level was too noisy for conversation. (We were disappointed they couldn't seat us outside, which would have been quieter.)

Nice brunch outside on the patio. We had a gluten-free person with us and she found some things to eat and the kitchen was agreeable to deletions and additions.
The menu is varied, one person just ordered sides, the others had salads. Everything was delicious. Inside was noisy but the patio was fine for conversation.
Recommend especially if you have picky eaters or special diets.

Seated in a timely manner on a Friday night. We had reservations. 7:30. Service was good. Friendly and delivery was timely. Hamburgers were excellent - sides were great. The branzino was excellent - BUT - you needed to enjoy spicy branzino if you ordered it. I enjoy spicy food and would not hesitate to order it again.

We drove from Bethesda and do not regret it.

Our party of four enjoyed another perfect evening to dine outdoors at RAD. The kitchen was very flexible with substituting items on our salad entrees, and the new side dishes were terrific. We all saved room for the fabulous peach cobbler; in fact, we ordered two cobbler desserts for the four of us. Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema is a big fan of RAD, and so are we!

We really enjoyed Ruthie’s All Day. The outdoor patio is very pleasant and the food and service were great. Definitely try the branzino or the brisket or ribs. The food was delicious and the prices are lower than many other area restaurants. Easily accommodated my allergy with gluten-free items. Also, A nice house pour of wine for $10. You can’t beat that.

To top it off, our server overhead our birthday discussion and brought birthday treats on the house! What a special treat and they even had a gluten free desert treat for me. We’ll be back!!!
