The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

It is VERY LOUD - like 75+ DB during a busy time because it's all hard surfaces (subway tile, concrete floors, wood and stone table/chairs) so by the end of the meal I had a headache. It was so loud the server misheard my wife's order from 5 feet away - I've been to quieter night clubs,

All that being said, I'd go back but I'd only sit outside. We've had takeout from them several times and the food is always really good. The food really is excellent and everyone was super nice. They just need some sound dampening materials on the walls or something.

We loved Ruthie’s throughout the pandemic and were excited to finally dine indoors (we braved weather as cold as 40 for those biscuits in the past.) It has become very popular but we had great service and the food is just exceptional, even when every table was full. I love how they balance out a Benedict with a great side salad and wish they sold the raspberry jam by the quart. This place is a gem.

My apple pancakes were great and the bloody Marys were spicy and delicious. However, our meal took forever to arrive - we watched 3 tables seated after us received their food before us and we received no explanation for the delay. My date’s meal wasn’t great: he got the brisket eggs Benedict fish and his eggs were over cooked, as was the brisket. Pretty disappointed overall.

Ruthie's has settled into the kind of reliable, friendly neighborhood restaurant that everyone wishes they had nearby. The service was competent and friendly. The food was good, but not flashy, and the ambience is casual and laid-back.

As you would expect from a barbecue spot, the meat entrees were perfectly cooked and vegetarian options were very limited. The tuna tartare appetizer and corn bread were hits, but the deviled eggs were bland and languished on the plate.

On another note, both times I've been to Ruthie's the crowd has been overwhelmingly white, to the point of drawing comment from my ethnically diverse dinner guests. I've also noticed dirty looks and whispered comments from other diners about POC at Ruthie's. It's not Waffle House levels of racism, but it was enough to make us uncomfortable. I'm well aware that there is very little the restaurant can do about this, but if you're any sort of minority and headed to Ruthie's, you should know.

Amazing food, excellent and attentive service… but so loud at dinnertime on Saturday evening as to be almost painful, even though we were seated in the “quiet” carpeted area of the restaurant. We’ll only consider returning at a much less busy time; the noise level really diminished our enjoyment.

Excellent brisket and loved the grilled octopus.

Noise levels on a Saturday night were off the chart. Had to repeat the order several times before the server could get it and conversation was next to impossible. I might try again on a week night.

Another visit to Ruthie's this week, however the results were different. I decided to try the 1/2 Chicken and unfortunately, the leg/thigh piece were pink to blood around the bone. Sent it back, but it came bac still rather red around the bone. Didn't eat the breast portion, but brought it home and when eating it, it was perfect. Lesson learned....tell the server to have the line cook make sure the leg/thigh piece is totally cooked. This experience will not preclude my returning as this is rapidly becoming my local fav!

We had a wonderful dinner for our first visit. The service was great- our waiter made several excellent suggestions that were super tasty! The octopus appetizer and campfire cookies were very good, and we would definitely order those again. They have a great menu with a lot of selection and the meal was well paced.

I had such high hopes for the food. I totally understand the service issues-it was very slow and inattentive, but I get that it’s a struggle right now so that really didn’t bother me at all. It was more so the food, I was just sort of waiting for it to pop with flavor or be amazing and it just didn’t happen for me. The steak wasn’t cooked well and was sliced in thick chunks so it really wasn’t tender, the chicken sandwich was flavorless and dry as was the brisket, the ranch dressing just simply lacked any type of flavor at all and the french fries were limp and oily without any crisp at all. Drinks were definitely lackluster.

Food & Service is amazing. Simple brisket with M&C or potato salad. Make a reservation, outside is nice, bit noisy inside or sit at the bar. Unique location, parking fills up quick, spaces in back. Definitely could be twice a month stop. Need to try the brunch.

This is the second time I have eaten here. We enjoyed the outdoor patio, however the restaurant was very busy and I don't think some of the food was on point.

Our food -- tuna tartar, salmon salad, and pulled pork -- was quite delicious and attractively served. I liked the spattered-looking dishware. We got there early (5:30 PM) and sat inside because it was very hot outside.

As others have noted, it's very noisy, but we were early enough that the noise was tolerable. As we were leaving, though, it eas definitely noisier. Our waiter explained that they had attached fabric pads -- they felt like a cross between felt and cork -- to the bottoms of the tables to cut down on noise. According to him, it was helping a lot, which was a surprise to us. The smaller dining room is carpeted.

Nevertheless, the food and the service were both excellent and we will definitely return.

Fortunately we’d made reservations for the patio so the noise level was more normal. Inside was an awful din. I’d would go back if I had to sit inside. I hear there’s a plan to baffle the noise.

The food was great. Our choices ranged from grilled octopus to salmon, shrimp and hanger steak. All were top notch. Sides were scarfed up fast.

Service was fine.

Price point was good.

Mosquitoes started to appear at dusk so we left before dessert, but truth be told we were already stuffed.

Looking forward to dining (outside) again.

Parking is a challenge - side streets are packed as well.

The food came out very fast - we had just barely gotten our appetizer maybe a minute before when our entrees showed up, so it would be nice if there was a little more spacing between courses. It is also very, very loud inside - they could maybe use a few more sound panels!

Otherwise, great vibes, great food, would definitely come back again and would love to check out their brunch. Super cute interior and decorations!

We sat outside after a few visits inside. It was much better because it was quiet, despite every table being occupied. Inside was way too loud for us. But we love the food and service so are really happy that outside is an option, weather permitting.

We ate on the patio and it was delightful. Service is always on target and very responsive. The food is delicious and portions are generous. Sides are “classic” but not “standard”. This is a great place for bbq and smoked meats. Fish and shrimp are also outstanding. Haven’t tried desserts yet. Next time!

We ate outside on a lovely early evening. My husband’s hanger steak was one of the best he has ever eaten. My tuna tartare appetizer was delicious and they happily substituted rolls for the potato chips. And the warm campfire cookies with ice cream are fantastic! This was our second visit and we will be back!

First time at Ruthie's All Day and can't say that we'll be back. From all the positive reviews, we were excited to give it a try. Patio was spacious and welcoming. Unfortunately, service was painfully slow and most of our food came out room temperature. Even our drink orders were not handled properly. Not sure if this was a one-off, but we left very disappointed!

We have been to Ruthie’a All-Day several times with our kids. Friday night we went on a couples date night as we wanted a relaxed vibe, good food - Ruthie’s was the place. Unpretentious but really elevated plating and food! The other couple had never been but I suspect they will be back soon! I am a vegetarian and can easily enjoy the menu like the Delicada squash with hazelnuts and pomegranates - yum! My husband had the special “dinosaur bone” which was a huge piece of smoked that he will continue to enjoy today! The smoked cauliflower and Mac and cheese sides are our favorites! Consistently good! Great cocktails too! We love this place❤️

The food was very good, we all enjoyed our meal HOWEVER the dining experience overall was sub-par. It is so noisy inside that you can barely hear your table companions let alone the waiter. The waiter acknowledged the noise issue and said they would be putting carpet down next week - at least I think that is what he said (let's hope so) because I could barely hear him. Definitely worth trying but recommend sitting outside until the noise issues are resolved inside.

First time here after hearing so many good things. The food did not disappoint. Creative takes on the side items; classic fresh goodness on the meats. Airy, clean, pleasant and bright inside. Gets loud as it fills up. Will definitely be back, hope to try the patio and eat our way through more of this menu!
