Had a lovely afternoon tea here as a birthday treat for my husband in a beautiful decorated room.
Plenty of sandwiches, good size scone and a selection of cakes. Very impressed will be returning for my birthday.
The service was great , the lady was very friendly and attentive, but as for the afternoon tea, it was not homemade (apart from sandwiches) and not much of a selection of cakes etc for the price of £30 for 2 people.
The food was excellent, however, the restaurant is very small so it's quite easy to overhear other diners' conversations.
We visited Salts Resturant as a surprise for my partners 65th birthday , I rang in advanced and for a charge Salts arranged birthday helium balloons and a birthday cake , the staff made us very welcome put on a birthday music tape and sang happy birthday . The Resturant had a cosy feel to it . We didn't feel rushed to eat and throughly enjoyed our evening , compliments to the chef , the food and presentation was second to none , well done to all.
Amazing dining experience. The staff were friendly and the food was fantastic. We were visiting for an anniversary dinner and the chef and staff made it very special for us.
Great little restaurant. Excellent food, albeit quite a small menu so worth looking online first to check there is something you like.
Risotto,Palma ham and lamb main we would highly recommend. 👍
Lovely staff and excellent food. Not very child friendly though
The quality and innovation of the food was a surprise. Definitely would eat here again.
We had a lovely dinner at Salts for my boyfriends Birthday. The food was fantastic and the whole experience was very enjoyable. At the end of the meal the waitress brought out a sweet birthday treat on the house which was a really lovely touch. I would return.
Lovely setting with beautiful views over Rye Salts and Harbour. The hotel retains elegance and charm with attentive staff and mouth watering food.
This is a rather old fashioned restaurant but we were absolutely delighted with the food which was excellent and not expected. A very good chef.
Nothing wrong with the food but it didn't stand out for me. Perhaps another two options over all would help.
We ate here on Saturday evening. It's a small dining room, mainly catering to hotel guests. The menu is short, no vegetarian options. The food was beautifully presented, well-executed Nouvelle Cuisine IE small portions of lovely but rich food. Vegetables were in short supply. Otherwise it was a very nice meal ( although not ideal for anyone who's very hungry!).
The food and service was beyond expectation👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
The staff were professional and the timing for the food was excellent👍🏾
We were not kept waiting between courses!
It's a great place to eat freshly cooked and delicious food
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was excellent; portions could have been smaller as a very rich menu. The hotel is stuck in a time warp and badly in need of some redecoration and modernisation. Accommodation was fully booked but the restaurant barely used for dinner - probably due to it's stuffy old fashioned appearance and the price of dinner for the family groups staying there.
Staff were welcoming and service excellent, but the loud jazz guitar muzak horrible. The hotel is located slightly away from the wealth of pubs and restaurants in Rye and needs to change to attract the numbers the other establishments are able to.
Great food with stylish presentation. Service was second to none and very professional with a personal touch.
Good Restaurant, let down a little bit by the service but would dine again
Food is good let down a bit by the wine list, i.e. fine dining food, pub wine list
Wow!! Fine dining at its best. My husband and I was amazed at how good this food was. I had the goats cheese starter followed by the deconstructed shoulder of lamb. My husband had the scallops ( melted in the mouth) for starters followed by the pigs cheek. No room for dessert, maybe because we had bread & olives before our starters 😆 Our waitress Szilvia was extremely nice and attentive alongside our waiter, Steven. A big thank you to the chef, Attila!! Your food is amazing!!!!
Lovely meal and generous portions. I was provided with gluten free options and had a fab cauliflower soup and Romney marsh lamb. All in all good value and courteous service.
Had a lovely evening. Food was amazing.
Brilliant service. Can't wait to come back
Fantastic food. Once they realised I was Dairy intolerant there was no problem about altering main course to suit. Will definitely return.
Few issues with the dining experience.
1. Took far too long to be asked if we would like a drink before our meal.
2. Three of the dishes on a very small menu were sold out and only told at the last minute.
3. Took around an hour between courses.
4. Arrived with pre booking at 8:20pm. Received our main course at 10:20pm.
5. Avoid the chicken breast, it was over cooked, skin wasn't crispy and sides were cold.
Overall 2.5 out 5. Only got the 2.5 for the starters because the lady waitress was so polite and apologetic and tried to make amends by giving us a complementary desert. 2 small biscuits! Meal was £107 including a service charge.
Exciting menu using molecular gastronomy & fresh local ingredients, beautifully cooked & presented. Service was attentive but not invasive. The only slight disappointment was the ambience, only two other tables occupied. However we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
It was a wet dreary day so we went exploring for something to cheer us up and we found it.....interesting choices, lots of new flavours and textures. We'll be back
We had a fantastic dinner, uniqum menu. The service and meal were wonderful. We will sure to come back. Thank you. Imre and Aniko
Great first meal at the Salts. Rye needs more fine dining venues and Salts is a great newcomer. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. Service was attentive but not intrusive , and the ambiance was pleasant. My only criticism is the time between courses was just a little too long. But overall, a great dining experience which I look forward to repeating.
Salts has only been open for a few months and this was our second visit. Food is fantastic and extremely well presented. Top quality but at prices that would not be out of place in a decent gastro pub - Starters £6 to £10; Mains £14 to £22. Drinks on arrival, 2 starters, 2 mains, shared cheese plate (1 port) and a lovely bottle of red @ £110 incl service.
Used to fine dining. This restaurant was remarkably consistent over our three courses. Superb twists on classic food. Good for game.
Chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Both starters were lovely with the two mains, the venison and beef cheeks, being delicious and very tender. Good wine list. Overall good value and would definitely recommend and would go back .
Excellent food & service, professional, polite & helpful. Great chef with pride in his work. Presentation was very good. We would recommend Salts.
We certainly would rate this as 10/10. This is a newly opened restaurant (4 weeks ago). We were looking for excellent food with a quiet ambience (i.e. No load music or people!). From start to finish the food was exceptionally well presented and cooked. The wine was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. We would certainly go again. The red mullet/beetroot very unusual. The venison was cooked perfectly. My only criticism is that the trio chocolate dessert was very large!
