It was a pleasure to dine at Sage Restaurant. Especially during these unprecedented times, it was great to have such a wonderful experience with a great waitress and fantastic food and drinks! Definitely want to go back when I return to Vermont.
Excellent decor, inventive menus and great hospitality
Excellent food and service! So nice to feel like regular life! Thank you!
Outstanding....the Mediterranean Toast appetizer and Shrimp pasta special entree were amazing. Great wine list and excellent service. We will be back again and again!
The food was great as was the service and atmosphere, really had a good dinner
Our second time at Sage this winter. We'll be back! Looking forward to trying Sage at Home, too.
We love Sage and think it is a great addition to our valley.
Our date was made fantastic by the entire experience at Sage. Each of our menu selections were made/cooked to perfection, our bartender was spot on and made great recommendations and the ambiance was intimate and cozy. Couldn’t have had a better night. Very thankful we can add this restaurant to our favorites.
For only the 3rd night open, with new kitchen staff, Sage exceeded our expectations by a lot! Food was extraordinary, (Oh, that Butternut Squash Soup!), service top-notch. Covid precautions excellent. We'll be back.
Everything was excellent ! We had a 7:30 reservation but couldn’t take out party of 4 until 7:45ish. It was no problem for us but the owner treated us to a round of drinks on the house anyway. We will definitely be back !!
Went to dinner with 5 of us. Sat in the back room that sometimes used for small events. Food was excellent with vegan options for 3 in our party. Even with the restaurant fairly full our service was excellent. My wife said her fish dinner was one of the best she's had in a while.
Awesome dinner with great service and cold bread
Ate there this week with my son. Food and service was great. Many choices and some nice specials. We had calamari, flatbread, filet, lamb, and some desserts. All were good. Not cheap but I didn’t expect that and I thought the pricing was fair for a nice restaurant. My only complaint was that the ambient temperature of the restaurant was a little cold. A minor issue. Overall I would go back and recommend it as a nice place to eat in Waitsfield.
We were seated quickly. Must have a reservation on the weekends. It’s packed. The food has a Mediterranean theme for some dishes. We had the couscous, lamb, souvlakia skewers, and bolognese. Only the latter was ho hum. It won’t break your bank either. Our waiter was very good. Tried the desserts also. Nice atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
The food was excellent, the server was a pro, and it was a lovely spot. It was, however, very cold--I had to wear my coat throughout dinner. I would definitely go back, but I would wear layers!
We had the potato leek soup with truffle oil and it was delicious. We also had the chicken skewers and vegan meatballs which were also fantastic. Our bartender Sam was attentive and excellent!
Beautiful place. Excellent menu. The food needs more flavor.
We made a reservation for 8 pm on a Saturday evening, but when we got there early they were able to seat us right away. The five of us shared the house salad with the house dressing and we all loved it. It was such a nicely balanced dressing! We also shared the Brussels sprouts which were also very good - not too crunchy or mushy and it was very flavorful.
We ordered the lambs, scallops and paella as main dish and we all loved it. Nicely presented, too. The paella was huge that it could’ve fed 2 adults easily.
The waiter was very attentive in a calm manner and anticipated our needs ahead of time. This is a small thing, but I really liked it that they took away all utensils after the salads and gave us fresh forks and knives.
The down to earth sincere hostess came around twice to ask how we were doing. The noise level was low enough that my mother-in-law had no problem hearing us. Big plus.
We had a wonderful dinner. Thank you!
Incredible food creations!
Took 2.5 hours from order to exit. No bread was brought. Waitresses were ultra sassy even though we were polite. Had to wait for a table. Specials were out. Weren't comp'ed anything. Other people were frustrated. Other folks were frustrated as well. Steak was overcooked.
We are sorry to hear about your experience. You are correct that many people were frustrated, our staff was too. It is not a night of service we are proud of, many tables arriving late started the night off on the wrong foot. As the manager I try to visit every table, sorry, I must have missed yours. We are sorry you had to wait for a table, the Sunday of Presidents Weekend is one of the top 5 busiest nights for all restaurants in the area. We hope you will return on a quieter evening.
We were happy with everything about this place. We showed up 45 minutes early (because I am dumb) and were accommodated by being given the choice of waiting or being seated immediately at a different table. Our server, Thomas, was awesome. Very conversational and knowledgeable. We ordered the pancetta Caesar, oysters, bolognese, and short rib. Everything was great. In my opinion, the oyster could have been better but that would be my only criticism. When we ordered dessert we asked if the carrot cake came with cream cheese frosting. It did not but Thomas said he would add mascarpone on the side. He instead added gelatto which we found to be perfect. Thomas even said he changed it on the fly because he thought it would be better. Kudos to you! Overall top 2 places we ate on our trip and will definitely go back if we are in Waitsfield again.
Valentines Day date with my wife. Very unique take on some traditional dishes. Large portions. As often the case in resort town a bit overpriced, but hey if was a great evening
This was our second trip to Sage and it now holds a place as one of our favorite places to eat in VT. The food is delicious, fresh and more creative than a lot of other places. Both visits, we had great service. We have eaten both inside and out and enjoyed the ambiance of both. The portions are nicely sized and a good value for the quality of the food. We can’t wait to eat at Sage again.
The service was excellent. The appetizers and the food came out very quickly and everything was delicious from the appetizer to the dessert. I would definitely recommend the mussels for an appetizer. The sauce was amazing. My S.O. had the roast beef which was a new item on the menu. He's a picky eater and he loved it. I had the petite lamb rack. I wished there was more it was so good. For dessert we shared the tiramisu, baklava, flourless cake. This was our first time here and our experience was great. We plan to come back again.
We were extremely pleased with our visit. Party of 6 and no complaints. Can’t wait to go back. Very helpful with a food allergy
Great place... our server Ethan and the bartender Sam were great... see you again!!
We love coming to Sage. The choices are great and specials are always exciting. The atmosphere is vibrant and friendly.
The 3 steaks were cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths. The bolognese and paella were also enjoyed.
We were skiing at Sugarbush and Opentable said there were only reservations open at 5:15pm and 8:00pm. We took the 5:15pm and were the second car in the lot. They were never busy, less that 50% of the tables occupied by the time we left. In short, don't trust Opentable if they don't have the reservation you want just drive down lol.
Was not busy the evening we dined here, so noise level rating may not be accurate on a busy night.
Oh, and the Lawson's maple imperial stout on draft was a bonus!
Hi John - We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your dinner with us. You are correct that Open Table is not always accurate. Unfortunately on that evening we also had over 50 people cancel at the last minute or never show-up at all. We hope to see you again. Jean
Very nice restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. We really enjoyed our dinner and were very well taken care of by our server and the manager/owner(?). The Greek salad was fresh and enough for 2. The lamb chops and the steak were both delicious and included very flavorful sides. The chocolate cake and the Moroccan carrot cake were the perfect finish to a delicious meal. Highly recommend eating here if you’re in the area.
Sage Restaurant was amazing. The people were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other things on the menu. Highly recommend!!
Delicious food and great service in an attractive setting. Portions are on the medium/small size so plan to get an appetizer if you are really hungry.
Excellent all around
Warm welcome on arrival, great service - knowledgeable and attentive
Nice food choices well prepared
Super healthy options!
Sage was a great new place we will return to. Unique food combinations made for interesting dining.
What a wonderful dining experience. Hostess, bartender and wait staff were all courteous , friendly and efficient. Food is definitely the best in the Valley! One of our 5 favorite places to eat in Vermont. A must try for all.
Interesting menu, good food and nice ambience. Will return.
Really enjoyed our dinner, which was also a birthday celebration for my wife. They even sang a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday."
Really tried to like this place. Mediterranean option in VT Mad River Valley is an awesome idea. However, service was very poor and inexperienced. The owners really need to invest in training the young staff. Asking for forgiveness is not a good strategy for a customer oriented business (“So sorry we are still ironing out the kinks”). Waitress didn’t know the word D’Abruzzo, which is their house wine. I had to stop waitress and tell her what to do in order to get any attention. They left us with waters for 30 mins. Worst of all the lamb came cold :(
This is our third time to Sage, so right there that tells you about the food - creative and excellent. Highly recommend the Caesar/proscuitto salad, scallops small plate, and bolognese pasta is wonderful.
The dining room is open and light. There is creative art work on the walls. There are a variety of tables - regular height tables, higher tables, bar area and a lounge area with couches.
Delicious pan seared haddock, great service!
