Bringing new life to St James’s with classic French dishes and modern creations, the Saint Jacques seasonal menu blends tradition and innovation to suit all tastes – from Richard’s legendary tableside prepared Steak Tartare to a decadent fondant au chocolat.
Saint Jacques’ interior amalgamates the characteristics of a warm traditional brasseries with a vibrant and fresh aesthetic. Key features include the light and airy main dining area, where the clean and organic design coupled with the floral artwork complements the local and seasonal ingredients used. Our French windows then open onto our courtyard, a tranquil oasis of a kind rarely found in Central London.

Wonderful restaurant (which I want to keep to myself in case they get a horde of visitors and am unable to get a table!). Amazing food and service. Hit the soufflé followed by the tartare .
I have eaten here a few times now. Consistently good on all counts.
Classic cuisine beautifully done & with a very convivial atmosphere……bravo!
If you like fine French cuisine then this is the place for you. Fine food and wine. Friendly service who do not try to rush you and a lovely ambiance.
The VERY BEST of The South of France !!! The chicken cooked in champagne 🍾 was so savory every bite was an orgasmic experience and the Plum Soufflé was so light and full of airy deliciousness. What an incredible experience…can’t wait to go back!!!
Good as always - great table outside in the square - fab food and wine - long lunch - no rush and great staff - highly recommend
Great food, superb wine and fabulous service, all after being warmly greeted by a sexy man with yellow braces.
Lunch ticked all the boxes, would definitely go again xx
I didn't leave the restaurant satisfied. It was for our anniversary dinner and I wished that I had chosen somewhere else.
The evening started killing the bugs on my table, napkin and knife. I know that there are some plants around and it happens but still didn't feel very nice. And speaking of plants and the inner court, it is nice and discrete but they could have cared a little more for the vases & plants surrounding the tables, they were in a miserable state.
My starter and wine was good but the rest was mediocre, especially for the price. I didn't feel that the neither the ambient nor the service was anything special. Especially the service, I've seen that other reviewers were impressed by the staff but for me it was only non sensible jokes and loud laughs. I felt not comfortable to a level that I didn't even want to ask some advice on food when I needed. I finished with a soufflé as a dessert and it was extremely sweet.
Turned back home very unsatisfied wishing to have had cooked something at home for our special day.
As always a good menu exquisitely prepared and served. Great choice of wines at reasonable prices!
Surprisingly quiet for a Friday but fun to eat indoors again!
Delicious food and efficient, helpful, service. We ate in the garden and there was a lovely atmosphere. We felt as if we were eating in France.
Great food …. We were moved from inside to a table in the courtyard which really made the experience… the main man was attentive & has a passion for what he does ….
Would definitely return
Very enjoyable and relaxed dinner. Service is friendly and welcoming. I would definitely book again.
Fabulous food and service. As ever, Richard was on hand to suggest a lovely wine
As always all-round amazingly good but must highlight the in season apricot tart as above and beyond fantastic - and with a glass of Coteaux de Layon, simply heavenly in the courtyard!
Very friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere. My partner said he had the best steak tartare ever! I enjoyed what I chose ( cold pea soup and the duck)but would have preferred more choice. I’m picky and don’t eat fish, foie gras, steak tartare or snails. Overall though a very enjoyable meal and we will definitely go again.
This is a great addition to St James's and ought to do well. I really like the cooking, the staff are friendly and helpful and the ambience is busy and buzzy but not overpowering. My only slight cavil is that having arrived at 2:00 for lunch we didn't get our order taken until 2:30, and that coffee came before dessert. Nit picking I know, but otherwise really good value and I'm definitely not going to let my minor quibbles put me off.
Lovely restaurant, surprisingly spacious, staff are full of character and food was delicious. Would recommend and will certainly revisit
Fabulous restaurant with an outside terrace at the back of historic Berry Bros. Friendly, attentive staff and excellent food. My veal with mushroom sauce was exceptional.
This was our first visit, we will definitely come again. First read about the restaurant in a review Sunday Times or the daily telegraph. Certainly lived up to our expectations
There is no doubt this is one of the best front of house teams in London. They are super friendly and very professional. It's a joy to watch them make the Steak Tartare in front of you; and flambe the Crepes Suzette.
The new chef Matt has settled in well, the cooking here is really good.
A really lovely proprietor run restaurant.
Ooops I should mention the owner Richard whose laughter as he chats to guests is infectious.
This was my first visit to Saint Jaques taking a business stakeholder to lunch for the first time.
We sat in the courtyard and I was impressed with the level of service, the menu and the food plus value for money.
We did have a slightly wonky table and the downside of being outside was other diners smoking nearby.
A charming restaurant with delightful, attentive staff serving real French food. The exterior courtyard (canopied) is a lovely sheltered venue for an excellent, good value for money meal. London needs more restaurants like this!
Stumbled on Saint Jacques when walking through St James. The outdoors courtyard looked great and so we booked a visit. Our experience was excellent. The staff are very friendly and the food is brilliant. We had the 3 course fixed price lunch and fount it perfect, delicious and filling. Drinks prices are at the upper end of the range, but I appreciated some great recommendations. The whole meal was very relaxed and the owner is great. Totally recommended and can't wait to visit again.
Love it here.
Classic, stylish, friendly & fabulous cuisine.
Excellent service and food as usual. Staff very attentive and helpful.
Looking forward to going again soon.
My client loved St Jacques and went back again.
An outstanding meal, with the veal chop being the best thing I've eaten in the last year, and an amazingly convivial host.
French bistrot atmosphere - good food, wine and service ; tres bien!
Tasty food. Excellent service with a sense of humour. Really enjoyed the visit here.
Fantastic meal. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great time.
Saint Jacques truly is the home of joie de vivre (truly exuberant enjoyment of life) and once again delivered a sublime meal with superb accompanying wines.
The courtyard is a gem and a stupendous find for August London and makes everything better, easier, chilled and cool!
Struggling for superlatives here, because it's just that good :-).
gorgeous classic location and atmosphere.
Great value for money
Yesterday was our second visit and we were not disappointed. Everything worked well and we were able to sit outside which was a big bonus
Our friends who had not been to the restaurant thought it was very good
We will be back

Amazing food, wonderful people all round fantastic experience.
Our first visit after finding reviews online...we were staying close by. The food was just superb, as was the service. We asked for a wine suggestion and Richard recommended an unbelievable French organic Reisling which was perfect. To finish we had Tart Tatin...if you ever dine here, don't leave without trying this! Richard was very attentive, as were staff in general....cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough in every respect.
friendly greeting nice service wonderful wine list food was excellent would go back anytime
Excellent service from the moment we entered the restaurant. The food was delicious and the tart tatin was absolutely amazing! A super evening and we will definitely be booking again.
Excellent but would have been outstanding with just making sure table was level and slightly larger
