Good lager good starters (ribs and spring rolls) terrible main (beef teriyaki) decent place for a meeting point for a drink! Wouldn’t eat here again...
Went for daughters 18th birthday. Both our children LOVED the food (it was their first visit), especially the sushi. They’re both asking when we can go again!
We had sushi and They were average.
We ordered deserts , cheese cake crème brûlée and chocolate fondant , which took ages to come and ice cream had melted ....
I have had better Sushi’s
Myself and my husband ate here to kick off our honeymoon. The food in Sakanas was absolutely incredible! We had the beef teriyaki and Korean steak gambi with jasmine rice, and both were gorgeous. Steak was melt in the mouth, incredible flavour and filling. Not the cheapest but well worth what you pay. Nice atmosphere, could have done with some air con as it was very hot in there! The only criticism we had was that the guy serving our table had zero customer service skills. We didn’t get a name but he was the tall server with his hair up in a top knot. No check back to see how our food was, zero conversation, came across as pretty rude and didn’t bother asking if we’d enjoyed the food. It was a shame as some of the other servers were really friendly but we didn’t tip because of his service. Otherwise, lovely meal out! Would definitely recommend for the food itself.
Visited for a casual lunch, great food , great staff.
Absolutely Delicious. Would definitely go back again
Good range of sushi available on 50% off deal. Nice cocktails also.
Booked here for post theatre meal after seeing Miss Saigon at the Palace Theatre. Great variation on the menu and an open kitchen. Really enjoyed our meal and atmosphere was great too.
Generally very nice food but let down by tough chewy lobster. When it came to paying the bill the staff member hovered over us expecting us to pay instantly which made things feel a bit uncomfortable.
Food was excellent as was the service. Would definitely come here again.
Booked in advance and was given a booth in an area that appeared to be overflow of the restaurant... hardly anyone else in there. Felt so out of the way and had no atmosphere in that area at all.. disappointed!
We were staying in Manchester for an evening and looking for an asian-fusion style restaurant. Sadly we couldn't book Tattu or Australasia so plumped for 'third-best'. Sadly it didn't live up to it's billing. Service was cursory at best, we are in our middle age but dress well and can certainly afford good quality, but were clearly not trendy enough so were given short shrift. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food but honestly it wasn't ordinary at best.
Great venue! Wanted to eat here for a while as I had previously been for cocktails. Firstly service was spot on and fulfilled a special request of mine to have champagne on ice for our arrival! It was lovely and chilled and served to us at the table.
Food came as and when it was ready which meant we always had something to nibble and awaited the next amazing dish! We were pre warned about this which was good.
Food. Was. Fab. We had Sashimi, sushi, tempura squid (more like breaded squid but still good) lamb curry and rice. Finished off with cocktails.
Looking forward to going again!
Our waitress was brilliant! she was really nice, patient with us, and always made sure we were comfortable and satisfied.
The food was brilliant, it came right on time, we didn’t have to wait ages for it, it came hot as we liked, we ate loads and still had some left over, it was also good value for money.
I have been here before and Part of my starter was something I had previously ordered, when it came it didn’t look the same, so I was told that different chefs use different decorations, it wasn’t an issue for me it still tasted good!
A couple of glitches though, firstly, my friend ordered the Korean steak, (we remembered vibidly as we asked for it to be cooked well done) but we were given beef teriyaki, which meant our order was wrong, because it’s his first time having that he didn’t realise until the bill came and it said “beef teriyaki” on it, however we had already ate the food so there was nothing really left to do.
The second glitch there was that we were sat across from the patio and the doors were wide open, (early evening hours) it was a bit chilli however they were happy to move us to a different table, it didn’t really make a difference as the breeze was quite strong but the gesture was nice, plus, we drank some tea and that kept us warm.
Overall I am happy to recommend sakana to some friends!
As this is our family’s favourite fine dining restaurant, I booked it for our daughters birthday.
Very disappointed this places standards have slipped.
Food was nowhere near as good as it was.
The place is lookIng a little tired. Musky damp smell near the toilets.
Service was good but did not want to keep complaining to the waitress, about the food, plus the Long Island ice tea was tasteless.
We had an awful time as two booths were full of awful drunks, the place seemed like a bar more than a restaurant.
They were so noisy and vulgar.
It was not like being in a restaurant at all.
They were mainly buying the two for one cocktails, more a bar offer than a restaurant.
We spent an awful lot of money for not a nice experience at all.
The manager did apologise but the birthday meal was ruined.
Bar and restaurant should be separated and they should not tolerate loud , Lewd behaviour in a so called fine dining restaurants.
Will not return or recommend.
Even if it may be a one off with the drunks.
It just should not be tolerated!
Really nice restaurant and food!
Overall really nice evening, would definitely come again!
We (co-workers) booked a reservation for their half off sushi and loved it! We will definitely return.
Poor service, average food, half the order didn’t come, did not commit to their offer of Sushi Monday despite the mistake being all theirs. I will not not going back.
Love this place! Food amazing & welcoming attentive staff! Gets better every time!
Very friendly service and a different style of food
Can’t wait to come back to the Sakana
Well done keep up the good work
Food was for the most part tasty. Restaurant felt cheap and courses rushed.
Very good menu, excellent food and the service was also very good.
Lovely spot! Definitely a hidden gem and will recommend! If you like Tampopo then you will love Sakana even more
Overall very good. Friendly staff upon arrival but service at the table was very poor. Waitress barely spoke or smiled, when we asked for glasses to be changed as they were marked she seemed really annoyed and offered no apology. Bar area is very busy which distracts a bit from the restaurant as gangs of young people in there so makes a quiet meal impossible. Food quality was excellent though and very tasty. Shame as restaurant is very good but bar area and clientele made it feel a bit edgy.
service was a little slow for an early booking but food (crispy duck especially) was tasty
Katsu curry is amazing and the decor is insta worthy deffo recommend
It was just OK.
Some food good, some just ok.
Atmosphere odd - wasn’t cosy. Expected better.
Great as usual will not be disappointed when you eat here .
Really welcoming on arrival, great booth to sit down and felt nice and private to talk but a good view of the restaurant. Plenty of option on the menu, something for everyone at a reasonable price. Service was polite and helpful as well. Looking forward to the next visit
I booked this restaurant for my boyfriend's 30th birthday and was left very disappointed. On arrival, we were a couple of minutes early , the waitress said she would check if our table was ready (we could see it was as the dining area was almost empty) and asked us to wait at the bar. Time went on and she finally approached us and took us to the table. We now see that this was a tactic to get us to buy drinks at the bar beforehand. When seated she then told us that they would be very busy later and we will need to vacate the table within an hour and a half. This was 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy in the slightest . I feel this is no way to talk to your customers - it was extremely unwelcoming! We decided to leave after this to which the manager attempted to make it right but frankly we just wanted to leave. Why would we stay feeling unwelcome!? No way to speak to paying customers . We won't be returning deposite an offer of a discount from the manager.
Nice experience but main waitress didn't address me or even look at me when asking questions- instead spoke only to my white companion. Second waitress was lovely and very talkative. Food was great but the atmosphere could do with attention.
Food exceeded expectations - much better than the ambience/place itself. Great service & friendly staff.
Lovely vibe, great menu variety and super tasty food!
First time I have been here and I will definitely be returning. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. If you are thinking of visiting here you definitely should!
Service not to the same standard as the food. Also very overpriced for what it is.
Great service. Fabulous food and very good value for money. A brilliant night and can’t wait to return.
Our first meal out as a married couple before flying off on our honeymoon, we were made welcome and food and drinks were amazing, the bartenders had great chat and so did the waiter however it was hard to get his attention.
Will always make our way back as the food was amazing
On arrival to the table, the table was sticky and food from previous table still visible. The wine glasses were absolutely dirty, we had to wait twenty minutes for a waitress to ask us which drinks we would like, only there was no drinks menu to look at while waiting.
Ordered a sharing platter starter to receive no spring rolls and had to ask the waitress for them. Drinks order was wrong. Main meal came and the wrong side dish also came and had to be changed. As for the beef terriyaki well if you like very very raw beef which has just slightly been cooked and blood streaming into the sauce then come here, this also had to be taken back.
I have been numerous times and this visit was the worst one! I will definitely not be returning after this.
Lovely food and drinks . Not amazing but still very good ! We had a nice evening the only thing that bothered us was when we paid .. we paid cash and no change was brought back to us. I like to leave me own tip rather than the server deciding on just taking it ! So that was strange . She was busy so maybe that's why. It was a bit more than I'd usually leave for a tip.
