Really enjoyed the Hot Night roll and Seaweed Salad! My friend that I dined with also enjoyed the Vegan options specifically the Tofu appetizer. I would say the service once we received our food was not great. Couldn't get our waiters attention and waited an unusually long time to get the check and also receive our cards back once we paid. Probably just a one time thing, so will definitely be back!

Very good service and good food. We were lucky that they have patio seating so we were able to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

We grabbed a late lunch at this neighborhood sushi spot- so much more than sushi tho. The beef bento box was banging and the Japanese potato croquettes are just crispy creamy goodness. Go, tell your friends and write reviews on this tucked away spot.

I understand that it was a busy night but we waited 1:10 for our food, after 40 minutes of waiting i asked about it and they said it could be right out, after 55 minutes i just asked for the check because i wanted to pay for the appetizers and drinks and leave and the server apologized and said ok but never brought the check instead finally brought the food out after over an hour. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN.

Sushi was good. We did a sake tasting which was great. Our service was good to start but the place got busy so it was a little slow at the end... but still good. Nice ambiance. We’d go again if in DTLA... especially if it was a Sunday. They had some really great Sunday specials!! We missed out on that.

Excellent food, attractive and comfortable ambiance, attentive service. The music was not too loud. We especially liked the shrimp wonton appetizer and the yellowtail. The warm scallop roll was sumptuous. We look forward to returning.

Excellent service; fresh and delicious food, beautifully presented; extensive menu with interesting choices as well as comforting favorites.

Made my OT revs last minute on a rainy LA day. We were greeted immediately with a big smile and welcome and were brought to a comfy booth. Our waitress came over and took our drink and edamame order while we glanced over the menu choices.
Great selection of Japanese beers and sake. There were so many rolls, sushi and bento boxes to chose from we got a bit sidetracked. The appetizer was the Japanese croquettes that we’re so creamy and crisp I could’ve made them a whole meal. The Hawaiian roll and California roll both had fresh crabmeat and so light and fresh I wanted to order a second of each. This last minute quick pick will become a regular restaurant no doubt!

I had the “special” sushi combo. My partner had the regular sushi combo. Both were super fresh and more than enough food. We enjoyed our dinner very much and would definitely make an effort to come back. Great service too.

Everything about it was great

We went on a Sunday for an early dinner. It was quiet. Food was good. Drinks were good. Service was a little slow, but the actual servers were great when we interacted with them. I'd definitely go again.

I’ve been here twice now for birthday dinners. The food is always great and the ambiance is super cute and trendy. It’s not too noisy and it’s a perfect balance of affordable but still fancy.

I was a little disappointed with ordering a mojito drink and you didn't have mint. Should of told me that while I was ordering it.

It wasn’t very busy so they pushed us out quickly. I think it would be more enjoyable on a weekend.

Vegan tourist review:

In LA for a Saturday concert and mom and I wanted veggie sushi.

Sakana popped up thanks to yelp. At first we wanted to eat earlier in the day as we were hungry. But after seeing Sakana opens up at 5pm on Saturdays, we decided to go shopping at fig & 7th. It all works out great and we walked over after shopping.

We made a reservation on open table, but it wasn't really needed.

We ordered the edamame and seaweed salad to start. Just there we were won over by how fresh it all was.

Our avocado roll, cucumber roll and vegetable roll were all so FRESH and light.

My mom (not vegan) ordered shrimp tempura and she loved that it was not oily or heavy either.

The ambiance is so nice and pleasant. It seems like it was getting busier and louder as we were leaving, which made us happy to know they're doing well.

This spot is super affordable and such a good option for fresh veggie sushi.
