Broiled fresh water eel / spicy shrimp salad / fried Thai basil / avocado / unagi sauce / roasted sesame
Menu was misleading - not very “Latin Asian” mostly sushi, which was however very good- the best part about the restaurant. The “bi-level” part of the description of the restaurant is wrong. The second floor of the restaurant is apparently a completely different Greek restaurant owned by the same owner. The service was terrible- sat at the bar and the bartender was on her phone most of the time.
The worst sushi I’ve ever at Sakerum. Been to Sakerum before and I noticed that the employee who makes the sushi is the the same employee from
We arrived and were seated in a back room. No server to be found, asked for a server and menus, finally received menus but the server did not return for over 15 minutes. After being at the restaurant for 30 minutes without any service other than receiving menus, we left.
Dreadful service. I had been to this restaurants several times before and ordered take out frequently. I am not sure what changed, but service was the worst I have experienced in DC. The server had no idea of anything, looked lost and unable to have social contacts. We had to beg then to pour us water, there was no drinks menu nor did servers know what could be served (server did not know what a lager beer was), waited over an hour for 3 sushi rolls, manager was useless and customer service absent. Empty plates were left on the table even as new courses arrived, till we finally explicitly suggested they be removed. Food was good, but not enough to make up for the appalling service. Please restore this place to its former glory!
Impromptu date night with my husband and this was our second time dining and it dint disappoint. The sushi was amazing and service was great. We had a few specialty rolls that were amazing. Will definitely be back when our west coast sushi snobs visit us this summer
We wanted to love the restaurant but there were several issues that we experienced: the server was not at all knowledgeable about the food offered and wasn’t attentive. One of the roles that we ordered had charred fish, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu and the server couldn’t say which one was the one that had the smoky flavor. We didn’t like it and when we ordered a second round we had another smoked flavored role included. Very frustrating.
They only serve daiquiri and white wine which is disappointing, considering the restaurant is a sushi restaurant and should at the very least serve Saki. Overall until something drastically changes with the management, I would not recommend the restaurant.
I waited for my table for 45 min even with a reservation!
They were out of practically everything on the bar menu. Out of sake. Wait staff took forever. My friend joked “maybe they’re going out of business?!”
Went here for my going away dinner. It took 10 minutes to get a menu and another 15 minutes to get a glass of water, so we just walked out. The waitress then rushes over as we were putting on our coats and said “Oh, you’re leaving? Sorry to see you go!” Uh yeah. You suck at your job. There were barely any people there and the waiters and waitresses still didn’t do much of anything beyond looking at their phones and ignoring the customers. I used to love this place. Now it’s just absolute crap. Will literally never go here again. Horrible service and such an insulting waste of our time. Thank you for being the laziest restaurant I’ve ever seen.
They had no sake and only one bottle of rose. They seemed to be going out of business.
We showed-up on time, waitress took our order 45 minutes later. Food showed-up an hour later. The waitress never came around to ask if we needed anything. Told us the kitchens is closing and it’s last call for food. Yet our original orders weren’t out yet. When the sushi showed-up everybody’s order was on 3 plates, we had figure out who ordered what. There was 11 of us! The food was great but the service was terrible. Also, they charged a tip to the bill without telling us.
Firstly, when we entered the establishment we were told that we would have to wait 20 minutes for a seat, after already having a reservation. Once we were seated our server was very rude. He then only came to check our table one time, the entire two hours we were there. I was very unhappy with the service. I will not be going back.
My wife and I went for a late-night bite last Sunday and we were blown away. The space was dim, romantic, and date-night appropriate. We ordered miso soup, the Maguro and Arco roll, and wine. To our surprise when we asked for the bill, we were informed if we paid in cash 30% would be taken off (a Sunday special, perhaps). The atm next door made the offer worth it. I would highly recommend and plan to return soon.
It used to be great. But with the dramatic changes to the menu and the reduced staff this place isn't nearly what it used to be.
They were closed
Awful experience. Waited at the front desk there was no one to greet us for a while because she was handling 2 restaurants hosting stations! They ran out of Sake days before and never reordered. The portions were half of what they posted online. They also ran out of bitters for all their main cocktails. It was dead and the service was very slow after we ordered our meal. It was very overpriced for what we received. We will absolutely not be back!
It was great! Love sakerum for a last minute girls dinner
I’ve been looking for a great sushi restaurant and was told by many friends that Sakerum had an amazing happy hour menu called $5 Sake Hour. I visited their website and Yelp and was pleased with the reviews, pictures, and menu. However, I did not learn until I arrived that the menu had changed and many drink and food items were removed leaving a limited selection. Nonetheless, we ordered the sake (salmon) nigiri and spicy crunch salmon maki sushi, but loved the Kazan and Spicy Slap specialty rolls the most! Overall, good experience. Nice, quaint, and cozy restaurant, with a great ambiance.
Yummy food, the plantains were fantastic! It was nice having those since they filled you up more then sushi on its own does. The sushi rolls were a little spendy, but they were good! Nice for a date night
Used to be one of the best Sushi spots in DC, not anymore. Menu and pricing haven't changed, but the sushi quality sure has... service was also poor and many of the saki selections were out of stock. This was the sixth and unfortunately, last time I will dine here.
Was in DC for the night and decided to stop by after seeing all the great reviews. And they were 100% right. The food and drinks were amazing the atmosphere was nice as well. Our server Paul was super helpful as well. Overall 10/10 experience and we definitely plan on returning next time we’re in DC!
So delicious, great service and amazing sushi. cute decor and a nice birthday treat
One of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had
Stellar service and food
Went for our friend’s birthday and sat on the rooftop. Waited over 1.5 hours for our sushi to come. Sushi was pretty average, not worth the expensive price.
My fav place in the city right now. I love it! Great service, great food and I love the rooftop.
Amazing sushi, best I've had in DC so far. The upper level is stunning, go during good weather so that the roof is open. Service was attentive and nice. A great spot for a a nice dinner or date night
Food was good and the ambience is really nice and cosy.
Service not really at expectations.
Delicious food and the best service in perfect ambiance. Carlos was THE best!! Professional and accommodating, while also personable and engaging.
Overall a poor experience!
Waiter was distracted
Good was middle of the road
Things we ordered were forgotten
No one seemed to really give a crap about it either. Super casual about the crappy service.
Too many places in DC to have dinner to endure crappy service for the price. Won’t be back.
Amazing food, especially the sushi wish was delicious and very fresh. Great service too.
