Saltwater Fish Company
With counter seating for 19 people and an open kitchen our Fish Bar offers casual seafood dining – we’re talking oysters from different beds, small dishes to delight, large plates to satisfy, French-style Fruits de Mer Platters to share and a blackboard full of daily specials. Champagnes and wines, too, of course – all fish friendly.
At our Fishmonger’s counter it’s all rather simple. We sell the finest selection of seasonal fish and shellfish whilst sharing tips and recipes and our well-stocked wet fish counter provides the raw materials for our regularly changing menus.
Excellent menu, delicious food and lovely atmosphere.
Food is always really really good. Great place for people and chef watching! I really shouldn’t have had that large glass of wine but it was such a relaxing place. Highly recommended
Staff are always helpful and accommodating and the sea food is always to a excellent standard
Great place for afternoon lunch and people watching
Visit for a birthday treat. Very quiet. Ordered the seafood platter and was not disappointed. Delicious and plentiful. Will definitely visit again to sample the menu. Our server was happy to answer our questions about where the produce was sourced and we had a most enjoyable experience.
Popped in for a casual lunch, service and food Was perfect as always.
Amazing food, fabulous fizz collection and excellent service.
Love coming here for oysters as they are always top notch, even better value when its happy hour
One of my favourite restaurants anywhere. It's a nice buzz at the bar and in the food hall, and interesting to watch the chefs opening oysters, shelling the langoustines, and filleting the fish. The food is always perfect - it's just the best place to eat fish that I know of. The menu is simple but classic with an emphasis on showcasing the freshness of the produce. Great wine list too. And always attentive, informed, and personable service.
Everything about this place is amazing ❤️
Food was delicious, staff were very helpful
Will definitely be returning soon x
Lovely food - we both had the moules and frites and no bother changing the dairy based sauce to wine/oil based for my partner. It’s the experience too that makes it unique- seeing the chefs prepare the food AND seeing what others are getting and thinking ‘I’ll try that next time’ and there will be a next time because it’s soooo good. 5 star service
Absolutely spectacular seafood! We had food from the specials board that was recommended to us by the staff and it was great watching the chefs making our food. A little gem!
Fenwick Food Hall has a nice vibe which you’re part of at the seafood restaurant. There are no traditional tables but sitting at the bar was comfortable and allowed for a good view of the surroundings. We booked which would be recommended as seats are limited. Food choices were amazing and the oysters, goujons, monkfish and lobster were all delicious. Along with a bottle of white wine we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our visit.
Love this place. Always great food exactly how you ask for it. Friendly and lovely staff.
The food was fine but it was definitely not service with a smile or even a warm welcome. Maybe it was because it was Christmas Eve, it felt like stress levels were high amongst the staff. Considering how much it cost (we were celebrating a birthday and had a bottle of champagne too) I would expect a far bigger customer focus.
Favourite restaurant in Newcastle. Amazing fresh produce cooked in an effective, simple way.
Great food, great service consistently good. You want seafood - go here
Love it here
If you love seafood, this place will never disappoint. We had an amazing lunch!
Lovely food. Lovely staff. Excellent service. Very tasty.
My favourite restaurant in Newcastle right now - the fish is incredible!
Excellent fresh fish dishes and superb service. Will return when next in Newcastle
truly exceptional, best seafood you’ll find in newcastle
A favourite place to grab a bite to eat, quaff a nice glass of wine and enjoy some goss.
Best langoustine we’ve had for quite some time. All the food was exceptional as usual, great staff and service.
I took my mam here for her birthday and the service was amazing, all the staff were super friendly the food was stunning and presented well. I would definitely recommend eating here and I will be returning very soon.
Thanks for a lovely experience
Great fish, well cooked and served with care. We had the turbot and the mixed seafood grill - both absolutely delicious.
The menu is always changing and the standard is excellent of all of the individual items and the dishes on offer. The service is second to none. Staff informative and very helpful. Watching the staff prepare all items fresh in front of you is a treat to behold.
I would highly recommend to family fiends and business colleagues.
We brought our daughter for lunch this week and she enjoyed it as much as we did last week, everything is so very fresh and cooked to perfection, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is fantastic!
Amazing fruits de mer although it should state the correct price for hot rather than a surprise on the bill. It would also be good if it stated that it does contain meat but these were just minor for our visit. Great wine list too.
Great as usual!
The spicy monkfish was delicious and thoroughly recommended. Lovely restaurant with quality food and service with plenty of dishes to try. Looking forward to going back again soon.
Always a great lunch, thanks. Nothing we have not enjoyed.
Great food a good choice of meals there was some issues with some ingredients for our order but i understand the issues with fresh seafood good overall
This was our first visit, and I have been raving about it ever since. I love seafood, but finding anywhere as accessible, with such a good range and quality is near impossible...until now. Wine was great as well.
I have already booked my next visit!
Fabulous lunch with the family. Great service too. We will be back.
Love this restaurant as I love seafood. The seafood is 100% fresh.
Out table overlooked the cooking area where a very busy chef was supported by very efficient staff. The oysters were expensive but lovely and well worth the cost and we both had turbot which we watched being cooked to perfection. Not many restaurants serve fresh turbot but somehow this restaurant always manages to have it and it is always exquisite, in my view" the king of fish."
Lovely afternoon spent with my 2 adult children to celebrate my son’s birthday. Food was delicious as ever, staff friendly and attentive
Love this place, best fish restaurant in Newcastle.
