We shared a starter and had a main each, plus bread and butter and 2 glasses of wine. Overall the experience was good, lovely service and ambience, not too crowded or loud, the food all tasted amazing, I just think some plates are really tiny for their price, while others are good value and portions, so if you get the tiny one you feel unlucky.
The trout starter and the scallop main were tiny. The dessert looked tiny for 10 pounds. However the beef carpaccio starter and the duck main were great portions and left us very happy.

Food is at the focus in this lovely small, modern restaurant.

Staff was very accommodating, although a bit disordered as we had a few mixups with our orders.

Went to this restaurant based on its reviews. The food was really good but the overall experience was just fine.

When we ordered our mains, the waitress said they would take about 20 minutes to prepare. I was happy for some time to enjoy a glass of wine. I excused myself from the table two minutes and when I came back the plates were on the table. It was a strange feeling - had we received the meal from another table?

This also meant the food arrived before the bread. All in all, it felt rushed.

The space is cosy and interesting - you feel like you're in the kitchen. This is good until smoke fills the room! We were basically sat under the hood vent.

Really enjoyed all food and very relaxed and friendly but efficient service. The Rioja (one of the cheaper red wine choices) was good too.

Great starter of octopus though my friend's mackerel portion was a little small. Generous sides but may make sense just to make mains a little bigger.
Service was very friendly and we were sat right next to the kitchen - could feel the steam bath on my back! Pretty much empty until 7.30 onwards.
We had a deal (50% of food) so paid £90 for three courses and two glasses of wine each which was really good value but wouldn't go back without a deal as bit pricey for the location and restaurant layout.

Salut was recommended to my partner by a taxi driver about a year ago, wish it didn't take us that long to try it out. Great food and tasty cocktails - definitely be visiting again.

I initially stumbled upon Salut's Instagram feed and seeing the gorgeous food photography on their profile, I expected a pretentious and overpriced place. Turns out I couldn't have been more wrong: the restaurant space is small and warm, with an open kitchen so you can see the chefs at work. The staff is really lovely, the wine list great and the food incredible (as beautiful as it's tasty). I'm so happy these guys opened on this side of Essex Road, Salut is my absolute new favourite. Check out the colours and intricate work on those plates!

Really nice meal at Salut - French food with a scandi twist. Really short menu - 4 starters, 4 mains - which apparently rotate regularly. So the lamb that I had is now gone - shame as it was excellent (loin cooked pink, shoulder cooked till it falls apart, sweetbreads). Seafood / fish looked excellent too. And wines by the glass were decent - handy if one diner is a fish eater and the other a carnivore.

Salut has somewhat cemented for me that modern European / British food isn't my favourite. It's very good - the food is pretty inventive, has a mix of well-crafted flavours, and clearly uses high quality ingredients - but I just don't find it excites my tastebuds in the way that, say, Barbary did.

It's a good choice, and for anyone who likes this kind of food, an excellent one.

The food is fine, although the portions are very small. Beautifully presented, but I want to eat, not look at a painting......The service was charming and efficient. The real disappointment was when we ordered the cheese plate. This was taken from the fridge and "warmed up" under the hearing lamps in the kitchen. The menu didn't say the cheese would be grilled.. ....and when I pointed this out to the chef, his argument was an economic one - " we don't know if we're going to sell 1 or 50 , so it's uneconomic to keep them at room temperature". Solution? Don't put it on the menu if you can't serve it properly. I thought I was giving useful feedback - I should have saved my breath and my money.

Both the food and service were amazing. We took our parents here and they were overwhelmed by the professionalism of the staff and complex palate of tastes presented in the meal. We'd really like to come here again the next time we're in London.

The wine selection in this restaurant was poor with no grapes description and overpriced. We ordered a bottle of Dao and was presented with a Vinho Verde from the same producer, the waitress was bemused when we explained Vinho verde are not produced in the Dao region. It's like ordering a Burgundy and you get a bottle of Champagne. So we opted to go for glasses, and started with Prosecco, it was flat. Then I ordered a glass of Italian Primitivo, which was elegantly served from the bottle at our table. However, it did not make the measure, so was inelegantly topped up with a fresh bottle. The "cepage" did not taste good. The chef cooks here, in full sight, which is glorious. Everyone is working hard, ingredients were fresh, it is a small set up and I liked the layout of the restaurant, very warm and comfortable. The dishes all have four or five elements, but it was a small kitchen with three cooks, so the dishes were not done well. Too many ready prepared sauces (home made no doubt), spread or squirted on the plate/food. And although the kitchen was in full view, our mains were lukewarm. We then were offered complimentary desert wine, which after requesting to see the bottle, we learnt was a late harvest Torrontes. This wine was superb, shame it was just presented as "very nice Argentinian desert wine". With fewer wine choices but carefully selected, and simpler dishes served faster straight from the pans, the price will be justified and I definitely will go again. This restaurant has potential. But for now, at £100 for two for the experience I had, not yet.

Great little restaurant with working kitchen in full view. Lovely seasonal menu - rabbit terrine, pheasant roulade for starters followed by red deer and deconstructed pork belly, all delicious. Cheese board one of the best ever, delicious cheese served at the right temperature for once! Hot chocolate soufflé was also superb. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in London.
