No Plov or manti for us!
Attentive service, fantastic food with sexy ambience. Highly recommended!
We went as we found a 50% off deal, going at a slightly strange time the restaurant was quite empty, however service was friendly and the food delicious.
All our dishes were delightful and the great value for money. The dumplings were exceptional and the lamb a delight, spiced well and cooked to perfection.
One of the best restaurants in London. Excellent in every way. I've been there 5 times in 3 weeks :))
The food was great, good venue in terms of decor, bar area and good service. Was lucky enough to go when they had 50% off cocktails at the bar and then 50% off food.
Been twice now, The food is YUMMY menu seemed different this time but still very good
Great place, it was pretty quiet when we went there, but it was early, there was still a great atmosphere. Our waitress was super helpful at explaining all the dishes to us, and we went with her recommendations and were not disappointed. The aubergine starter was delish! Was happy with the meal and would definitely go back again to try some of their other main dishes.
This place is fantastic. Definitely go to the bar before your meal, there is a great vodka menu with lots of really interesting infusions. Mini martinis are a great idea, let's you try a few things. The food was top notch, very interesting flavours. They mentioned to us a new menu soon which sounded good too. And the staff were all really on the ball and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Good food and pleasant staff. Be aware that the wine is very expensive
Drinks are great, some are amazing. Food is a bit hit and miss, some is great and others are not great.
I'm annoying because I ask for the measurements of my food (weight) but the staff was nice and helpful. Much appreciated!
Great as always.
Lovely service. Great food. Loved the décor. Nice ambience. Makes the whole place look very classy.
This was a nice restaurant with care and attention given to the food and it's presentation. A nice change from the run of the mill as the menu seems very authentic (I wouldn't know as I've never been to that part of the world!).
However, like many gems - it is difficult to find - as it is not in Charlotte Street at all, but in Rathbone Street, off Charlotte St.
Thank you very much for having us. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be visiting again soon. Our first time here was excellent and we will be recommending it to our friends.
Loved the food. Extremely fresh and tasted great.
Staff friendly,polite and effecient.
Beautifully decorated and it was busy but not loud which was great as we could all hear ourselves talk.
Great food, great atmosphere and decor and really good service!
Service was excellent and the restaurant decor was lovely, but unfortunately our party of 4 found the food to be bland an uninspiring. We were excited to try a new cuisine; however, we found it not to our taste.
We cannot fault the service or ambience though - full marks for that. Nice location also just off Charlotte Street.
What a great place for an evening meal. Great cocktail list and interesting vodkas - knock yourself out! Interesting menu too. Would like to visit again and delve deeper in to this menu.
Eating in Samarkand really brought back memories of Uzbekistan. The decor is well done, with tiles, carvings & fabrics reminiscent of the real Samarkand. The food was delicious, a poshed up version of genuine Uzbek food. The pumpkin dumplings were gorgeous and the plov to share was as it should be. Service was attentive. Need to try from the extensive vodka list next time!
Very interesting restaurant. Tried for the first time. Friendly staff and beautiful décor. The menu was a bit of a surprise and seemed a mix of a lot of cuisines - whereas we had a expected a bit different...but then maybe our knowledge of Uzbek cuisine must be very limited. But overall had a lovely time with good food, great service. Would definitely recommend and take family there.
Great ambience but some dishes don't look really "authentic"!
Nayna cocktail was very refreshing. Two-person Plov is generous for sharing—with the achichuk side salad making a very tasty addition. Price is on the high side but worthwhile for special occasions.
Enjoyed a few of the infused Vodka selection and the Uzbek rice dish... Good selection of cocktails and appetizers as well...
Great place where you can eat some very special menu . I recommend trying all the foods, we've been there 3 times since then. Always great!
From an unassuming entrance and lobby, you go down the stairs and are transported into a whole new world! the decor is amazing with the handcarved uzbek wooden columns and colourful ceramic tiles. The food itself is great, perfect for an avid meat eater. The only hiccup would be that the vegetarian options are a bit bland. Would definitely go again and recommend it to friends and family. Don't be scared to order some vodka with your meal. You get a more complete experiences and it goes compliments the hearty dishes nicely.
Definitely give it a try! Enjoy!
The restaurant staff were very accommodating for a birthday booking and even offered to lay out complimentary Christmas crackers for the table (a lovely touch given the festive time of year). The bar is ideal for a pre-drink and the restaurant itself has a wonderful and contemporary style of decor with an open kitchen in sight. Thankfully it didn't seem to feel too noisy either, even when things got busier later in the evening.
As we pre-ordered our food (due to group size) it was great to see the staff be so attentive - They even double-checked our orders in case anyone wished to change or add something, and they'd also taken the initiative to put out named place-cards too.
Speaking of which.. The food was really tasty and well presented - We had a mix of dishes such as the chicken tabaka (good size portion for one), duck breast (slightly small size portion for one), stuffed butternut squash (good size portion for one), truffle potatoes (one would be plenty to share between two).
I'd definitely recommend this place for group bookings, dates, and special occasions!
We have a lovely time at Samarkand. Nice atmosphere and very nice design. The food was great and the staff very friendly. This restaurant is relatively new so it was not too difficult to get a table but I am sure it will soon become one of the trendy places and it will be less easy to book! Anyway I would definitely go back.
This is a relatively new restuarant so is relatively quiet at lunchtime but I would highly recommend the food, ambience and service - plus it also represents good value for money.
Absolutely amazing food, impeccable service. Just a shame that there were so few people in there, the atmosphere was a bit flat. Highly recommend the Plov followed by infused vodka!
Fantastic lunchtime set menu, excellent value, hidden gem, very quiet.
Lovely evening meal. Nice ambience and design.Food was delicious, except baklava dessert which was not to our taste. Friendly, attentive service. We had booked with an offer 50% off food and got happy hours cocktails too.Highly recommended
Excellent from start to finish, all the team of staff delivered exceptional service. The cocktails are deliciously different and morish. The food is fresh in flavour with the traditional beef dish for two being a superb melt in the mouth experience. Great variety of starters each full of flavour. Good wines and a very special dessert. The ambiance in this downstairs restaurant is wonderful, beautifully decorated...a must see and a great culinary delight.
My perception previously was that food from Samarkand would be more interesting. Found that I was served Tuna and Sea Bass from the most land-locked place in the world. Perhaps my pre-conception's fault.
The other food on offer was closer to what I expected but was very pricey for either the volume of food received or quality.
What a great place! Beautiful food in a fantastic setting.
I was the first time we went to this restaurant and found the place, food and service excellent.
Overall we all found it to be an excellent find and it really helped that the service and the ambience was excellent.
Went for a friend's birthday. Great service and good ambience.
Brilliant! This place is such a a find! The decor is so well thought out and unique, they have a fantastic dining area and separate cocktail area where they have lots of vodka varieties they make on site. The food was exceptional and service was attentive.
Samarkand was delicious. As an Uzbek restaurant, you immediately know you're taking a risk. When ha anyone ever eaten Uzbek food? Well, the risk paid off. Terrific food. Terrific service. Incredible entrance and interesting decor. I would come back in a heartbeat.
