We shared the Cauliflower Manchurianand the spring roll appetizers, which were both very tasty. The spring rolls came with three pieces, but the waiter offered to add a fourth to our order (which we paid for) without being asked. Good customer service. Our entrees were Pad Thai with duck, Chicken Rendang, Nyonya Mixed Veggies with chicken, and Pad See Ew with “mock” duck. All were flavorful- some heat but not too much. We will definitely eat at Sambal again.
We usually go to a couple of the surrounding area restaurants but it was such a lovely night to see the sunset, we finally tried Sambal. The apps were excellent and my partners chicken thigh dish was spicy enough. The views are perfect, and as an added bonus, there was live jazz ! We will definitely return.
The food was ok, nothing that I went whoa this is delicious!
Had the curry puffs and the cauliflower appetizers which were better than the main entree. The mango chicken was good, the fried noodles with chicken and it was meh (wouldn’t order it again). However, the service was very good, the location is perfect with the view of the Hudson River during sunset and the restaurant looks very nice. I’ll give another try but definitely order different dishes.
The service was horrendous and the food was average at best. The only value was sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful view.
Nice view and good food. Gathering with friends at the rooftop, where we could enjoy Hudson River view. We had a good time there and will definitely go back. I do recommend to others.
Many thanks for your lovely feedback
Drinks came out after the appetizer.... main course came out during appetizers. Very rushed but nice views
This is a beautiful place to eat outside and take in views of the Hudson River while eating delicious and healthy food.
We really appreciate your valuable feedback Thank you
Good Thai food, but I had higher expectations since I saw this was voted best Thai in Westchester. Also thought there would be more Malay, Singaporean and Indonesian dishes. Chili crab and beef (not chicken) rendang anyone? Would go again just for the view though. Would be nicer if they could do something to cover the parking lot, but that's probly on the landlord or the town
We had been to Sambal several times and it was always a great experience This time we brought some new friends to introduce them to Thai food. They really liked it
Great food and service. Appetizers, noodle and rice were delicious.
The restaurant was empty but for 2 other tables. They had full staff. We were celebrating my 30th birthday and my wedding two days prior. The restaurant forgot our order, served other tables first, never took any action to apologize, and didn’t even offer any sort of contrition at all. Also never really refilled waters, took orders. Etc The staff, kitchen, and management have no idea what they’re doing. The food is dry, and honestly not that good. It’s Thai food; but you can get better Thai food anywhere. The food here is fine, and each plate is like $17 and you have to pay $2 extra for even chicken. So add that with their terrible service even on an empty Monday night (yet, with a full staff) this is a restaurant that will probably die out within a year.
Food is so bad barely edible Outdoor seating on the porch overlooking Hudson River very nice Too bad the food quality doesn’t match such nice scenery Won’t come back for sure
Service was excellent and food was delicious. We were 4 people. Each ordered something different and each thought their dish was great!. I ordered a vegetable dish and the vegetables were large pieces of fresh vegetables cooked in a nicely seasoned sauce. I added the vegan duck which I had never tried before and it was really good mixed in with the vegetables and sauce. They have a lovely outdoor patio with a great water view but it was a rainy evening so we sat indoors.
I highly recommend Sambal and we will definitely return.
We are at Sambal for the first time last night. The food and service were excellent. The cocktails were also delicious. We will definitely be back.
Restaurant was closing after lunch to get ready for dinner, rushed us out.
Prices way too high, not good value at all
We’ve been on Fridays and Saturdays when it’s very, very busy. But on Sunday night it was calm, quiet, and the service was more focused. Our server was very helpful (and funny!) and did not steer us wrong with his suggestions. Thank In every instance, however, the food was delicious!
Our waitress was friendly and professional. The view was fabulous and the food was terrific
Wonderful view, good service..... food was ok, but not what we expected,
Second time back and it was great! Only thing that was great was dessert but otherwise there were 5 of us and we all enjoyed the appetizers and our meals.
View is amazing, if you sit out doors. Yes So, the lychee martini was delicious! However, the service was terrible and it was no where near busy. We went for HV Restaurant week, which ended yesterday however upon seating they told us, they had made the decision to not offer it because it was too many customers.
The food had indications on the menu of being spicy it was not!
Food was unflavored and bland…
I love restaurant week because it give us a chance to try a new place, with hopes it can be a favorite.. unfortunately for us, this won’t be it.
I’m sorry to say I was disappointed. The view of the Hudson is amazing. The service was abysmally slow thank goodness we were catching up after months of not seeing each other during the Pandemic. The bathrooms were gross. The food was good but nothing spectacular for the price and the drinks were very expensive for a lot of ice. The music was very loud and high tempo almost club like and then very loud music being played by kids in the parking lot. Sorry I typically don’t write negative reviews but wanted to forewarn future visitors. Try to get into Red Hat instead :)
Highly recommend! Food was delicious, fresh and great value.
Good mediocre at best. Service very slow. Orders were mixed up and my son was served in a chipped bowl.
Manager gave us a free dessert, but won’t be returning.
Staff was overwhelmed. They tried hard, but were somewhat unable to efficiently serve the patrons. The nice porch view of the Hudson allowed us to overlook the long waits for any recognition by the limited staff.
I wish I could give this place a Zero star. It seems under staff, one waiter serving. We had reservation for 5:30p on Tuesday 5/18 we didn’t get serve our dinner until about 8:15pm. We had to wait for everything including our drinks. We placed our order for apps waited about an hour, no apps. We asked waiter what happened since everyone who came after us got their foods he told us he forgot to put it in. We proceed and placed our dinner order. In which came out at a decent time. Food was good, nothing special. I needed another drink, waiter never came to our table to check up; to make sure food was ok and if we needed anything else. Beautiful view of the Hudson. Unfortunately, we will not return.
Food and drinks are delicious. The service was amazing. They went out of their way. Will def be back.
This was our first time at Sambal, it came very well recommended. Off the bat we waited about 10 minutes before our server came to us. Once he did, he asked if we were ready to order our whole meal which was odd as I never had that happen at a restaurant. All in all we had a wonderful night and enjoyed ourselves. We would return.
Very good food with nice roof-top seating. Appetizers were served quickly with drinks.
The service was abysmal. Hostess bypassed me to help someone who was behind me and came after me. Luckily the person behind me told the hostess that I came before her. When we eventually got seated, tables that were seated after us got water and had their order taken before any wait staff came over to our table. The waitress and waiters walked by numerous times without acknowledging us, it was like we were invisible. My husband raised his hand to get someone's attention, the person acknowledged him and said I'll be there. The person did many other tasks and not once stopped by. After about 15 minutes of being seated and ignored, I walked up to the hostess and asked if there was something wrong and if anyone could help us. She was barely apologetic and sent people over. I was really excited for this restaurant after my friend had recommended it but the horrible service really ruined my night.
Terrible service. Good food. First timing eating there Waiter didn’t explain menu forgot about us we had to get up and find him for our check.
We enjoyed the restaurant week selections. Coconut curry soup and green papaya salad were outstanding appetizers. The staff was friendly.
Sambal was absolutely delicious, a true hidden gem!
I loved my dining experience. The staff were great, the food was delicious and ambiance is supreme. What more could you ask for!
A bit pricey for thai food, but after a little misstep with music (teen pop hits not a good choice for dinner music), everything was good. Really good paratha. And my fried fish was delish!
The food was very good. Very disappointed at the limited dessert choices (2). Most of all, we were disappointed in how close the tables were. Certainly not 6 feet apart. People at the next table were less than 3 feet away. Will only eat out doors going forward.
great food, sat out on deck and had nice view of water. Friendly staff.
Disgusting service. Asked us to move when we were seated and already eating, all to make another family more “comfortable”.
Excellent food and service. Sit outside so you can get a view of the Hudson.
Our waiter was as nice as can be. He was really helpful in recommending some dishes. Based on our two apps, which we chose, I wasn’t sure how the main course would be. The apps were fair, meaning the cauliflower felt a little bit like it was pre made and was maybe re warmed. But the three dishes we had were all very yummy and fresh. The portions were a bit on the small side. But overall food was good. Very cool atmosphere and you can’t ask for a better spot right on the river!
The drunken noodles were delicious as was the crispy calamari appetizer. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and the ambiance was very relaxing.
