This is a lovely restaurant with fabulous food. The menu is varied in content and price range so it’s a good value evening.
The food is delicious and the portions are excellent. Great restaurant. Thoroughly recommend.
I ordered a rib eye steak and received a fillet steak. They were quite busy so could not be bothered to tell them as my husband would have finished his food by the time my food was sorted.
Superb meal with the most wonderful, knowledgeable and considerate service.
Special mention for the stand out fish soup, steak tartare and the Hungarian Maitre D. Absolutely outstanding!
Table for four to celebrate 60th birthday of my partner. Fabulous food, service and Wine
No pressure to finish food before next course.
A joyous evening
We ordered the cout de bouf, it was very disappointing. The meat was fatty and slightly chewy- not what one would expect from a £75 cut
Lovely food. Very attentive staff. Very quiet for a Saturday Lunchtime. Wine menu was pricey.
The food and service were exquisite. I’ll definitely go back and also recommend to friends. Everyone was just amazing and we had a fantastic time. As for the food, oh my god, it was divine. I’ve tried other restaurants of the same calibre in jersey and this is by far the best food.
The only snag was just at the beginning of our evening right at the entrance. The receptionist made me feel quite inadequate and furthermore in the middle of taking our coats and dealing with us, she rushed to the door to a couple of evidently return guests who had just entered. As she proceeded to deal with them and left us standing like idiots , the couple were courteous enough to acknowledge us and directed her back and urged her to deal with us as we had arrived before them.
However after we’d been seated we had the most wonderful time. All other staff were absolutely fantastic and the service was absolutely irreproachable.
So thank you very much, the staff at Samphire for a fantastic evening!
So....having visited Bohemia the day before we had very high expectations. On entering it is a lovely venue and the atmosphere was lovely.
The first disappointment however was no greeting for my wife and no mention of her 40th birthday which had been made clear.
We were put at a nice table and seated. It took 10 minutes for someone to speak to us and unlike our other high quality restaurants no napkins place on our laps. ahh well we thought not the end of the world.
Next (15 mins) came the bread with no discussion. Unfortunately they had again forgotten my wife was a celiac. On asking if they had gluten free bread they advised they had run out. 5 minutes later they were back with some form of cracker, green in colour saying they had replaced it with that....,.really.....,disappointment started.
On the wine list being delivered we advised we don’t drink, I am fairly sure the waiters face was less than impressed. No alternative drinks were offered.....again.....,really.
I ordered a carrot starter and things began to look up apart from they put it in front of my wife instead of me. Only a small thing but for a top quality restaurant I think this should be correct! The flavours were Devine, well thought out and complimented each other perfectly....,if you visit, I would recommend this!
So onto the main feeling hopeful my wife ordered a ribeye steak and myself fish and chips. It’s not something we would normally order but were interested to see how these would be made Michelin star.
Unfortunately I am not sure they were. 4 chunky chips, very large, likely deep fried and slightly raw in the middle. The fish was plain and lacked seasoning and the steak wasn’t seasoned at all. To be fair, it was cooked perfectly though at medium rare. I don’t like to be unfair but our local pub do a better version of both.
At this point we decided to cut our loses and go....a real shame and likely just a unlucky visit I am sure. Unfortunately it was not our night!
As expected a great breakfast and overall very pleasant experience.
Excellent service and fantastic options for my other half who is Gf and Df.
Highly recommend it
We had a lovely evening for a special occasion. Eating early meant the restaurant was quieter which is nice for talking. Quality of the food excellent. Head Chef and kitchen staff very friendly. Service good.
one of my favourite restaurants right now - will be back again soon thanks guys
Highly recommend a visit. One of my favourite restaurants in jersey
Very professional in a relaxing and unrushed environment
Really nice seafood, lobster was a highlight
Service was attentive
First time I’ve ever been and my girlfriend and I loved it. We will most certainly be back, we have also been told about the incredible brunch that you do!
A great valentines night out made extra special by the wonderful food and ambiance of Samphire. The venison was out of this world... yes it costs a little bit more than some other places but when you think of the gourmet pleasure you have experienced you know you made the right decision, and I felt I had spent my money wisely.
Excellent evening with great food and wine and very attentive staff. I will be back
Our second visit to Samphire. Most impressive cuisine and excellent- attentive without being obsequious -service. Somewhat deliberately we did choose a quiet night and went early so the restaurant was fairly empty which whilst reducing background noise also inevitably impacts the ambience. Samphire is certainly not cheap but arguably still represents pretty good value for what was a high quality overall dining experience. We will definitely be back - but may have to save our pennies!
As a treat it’s worth a visit, food was fantastic but it’s pricey
I was very happy with both the quantity and quality of the food and will definitely be back.
Booked months in advanced. Taster menu looked great and was meant to be the main 'foodie' part of our visit to this wonderful island. Upon being seated we were presented with the menu. We asked about the much advertised taster menu and were informed "not tonight". No further explaination was offered. Lobster? No, all gone. This was 7pm on a Friday. I had Brill. Nothing special there. Service was ok. Not deserving of a star in my opinion. Would not recommend.
Bread, butter, oysters and starters were very tasty but the mains were mediocre with my husbands monkfish being so cold that he had to send it back!!! He did receive a new dish but it meant he was eating by himself as my mother and I were already finished. It did take it off our bill but it did take the shine off the night, not sure if I would return.
I booked this for my daughters birthday and apart from the service she had a nice time. I did think it was expensive for a lunch time treat, but overall the food was good. What let this experience down was the service, whilst deciding on our menu choice we ordered drinks, my soft drink came but we had to ask twice my daughters wine which didn't arrive until after the first course had being served.
When the main course was served we asked for a condiment which again we had to ask twice before it appeared.
After dessert we ordered coffee, which was served tepid, and there was no sugar brought to the table, we attempted to catch some attention without success, so my coffee was left undrank. These are only small issues but effected our overall experience which is a shame given the cost.
Beautiful food....great service. What more do you need?
Excellent food, interesting wine list and attentive service.
Was there for a birthday treat. Was lovely night. Service excellent. Limited food menu but was excellent
We've been to this restaurant many times and normally it is very good on all fronts. Last Saturday was the first night after New Years and they were clearly short staffed and couldn't cope with the number of covers. We patiently waited for our first two courses but then decided to skip dessert given the long waits. they have been patiently rebuilding the restaurant under it new brand and they should be careful about protecting the consistency that is expected.
The food itself was good - well-executed and well thought out. The service was below expectations; it seemed the floor staff were a little unfamiliar with service at this (purported) level (with the exception of the two managers, who showed their experience) and that left things a little flat. Good examples of this: the incorrect dish being put in front of us (for a restaurant of this caliber the servers ought to know who had ordered what, and given there were only two of us at the table...); food being spilled when removed from the table; drinks not topped up frequently - nothing too drastic, but just short of expectations.
There were a couple of errors on the final bill, again nothing too problematic, but not what you come to expect at a place like this.
This restaurant just gets better and better, Lee Smith is taking it to new heights that we haven’t seen before anywhere, can’t wait for what next year is going to bring, super excited for our next visit in March
Food was outstanding. Decor is excellent. Service was not to the required level. Initial drink order only partially appeared, had to chase after several minutes passes. Not proactive enough in terms of asking whether further drinks desired. Water wasn’t refilled. Had to constantly seek out service. We asked for a quiet table. We were placed between two large groups, we asked to be moved after a few minutes. Food was so very good, just unfortunate that the service wasn’t up to scratch for this type of establishment.
This restaurant is magnificent and nowhere near as expensive as I though it would be. The food, drink and service are impeccable. Highly recommended.
Very sorry to report this but we did not have a very good meal. Starters were good. But our rib eye steak from the a large carte was in edible. It was cold, tough, and has a very hard dark almost black but not burnt outer crust! Nothing I have ever experienced before with a steak. The chips were also very powdery texture and dry. We ended up just paying for a starter as we both lost our appetites after the steak. Couldn't cut it either, the knives were blunt and it was too tough
Such a lovely restaurant, nice ambience, comfortable and feels just a little bit special.
Incredible lunch experience. Amazing value set menu which encouraged us to spend a little more on the wine list! Service was first class at ever level from front of house to waiting staff.
As usual Samphire did not disappoint. Good festive menu, great wine and the usual top notch service.
Very special and memorable birthday.
Excellent food. Top notch. Some younger staff members need further training. Senior staff excellent. Expensive but worth it.
This restaurant never fails to impress. The food is of the highest quality you are ever likely to eat anywhere in the world and on a cost par with what you would pay for pub grub. The atmosphere is excellent and the service is also fantastic. Would recommend this to anyone
Disappointing meal at Samphire for a special weekend.
Started off nicely, the lady on the desk was charming and the restaurant looked lovely.
However, the food wasn't what I expect from a 1 Michelin Starred restaurant. I had the risotto to start which wasn't well seasoned and was overwhelmingly cheesy when it should be more balanced. The same for my friend's duck egg starter which was overpowered by mushrooms.
The rib eye for my main course was a good size but I ordered it cooked medium and it was more on the rare side. My friend ordered another beef dish which didn't say it contained truffle on the menu and it did. Truffle is something that should be listed.
There was some sort of celebratory party upstairs in the speakeasy bar and there was lots of shouting and thudding. I understand this isn't a regular occurrence but it did spoil the ambience around the time we ate our main course.
We weren't in the mood for dessert after this so we asked for the bill.
The maitre d at the end of the meal held out his hand for the credit card - as if to grab it! I've never experienced such bad manners in a high end restaurant.
I had forgotten until after we left, but when the reservation was made and then confirmed the day before, I confirmed that we were celebrating a birthday. Perhaps because we didn't order dessert, there was no candle on anything, but it was another mishap to add.
Won't be recommending. Real shame as it seemed like it has so much promise.
